Music Today VS Old Music Rant

Today's music requires little to no talent. Most "artists" hire songwriters. If they sing, all they do is use auto tune. Bass and drums are completely automated. There is no drum kit in real life that sounds like most of the ones used in today. It gets worse. Some people have a soundboard. It basically has samples from a bunch of different instruments that you can turn on. This qualifies as an instrument that requires talent. I've never used one of those but I'm pretty sure I could sound just as good as a "professional" in about 10 seconds. I play guitar, piano, and mallets. I take my music very seriously and when I see some idiot with a soundboard and people thinking that they are SOOO great, that makes me mad. Look at the musicians that play instruments by themselves in there songs. Playing instruments is the talent part. Organizing a small tune doesn't require talent. Having said that, there are still many good musicians that produce their own music. I am bored so I have to get this all out of my head. If you read this whole thing, wow. Thanks.

Fear Inoculum is great, especially Pneuma and the titular song itself, the rest of the songs in the album are a bit iffy. But for me lateralus will always be the best.@SupremeDorian

@TurtlesThatFly I agree. MIDI software it different. MIDI software is good if you can;t store drums or can't have drums. But an entire song should not be made out of midi software. I know someone who is a guitar player. He makes videos on youtube. He uses a drum midi program. But he still plays the guitar and bass. My point is in order to make a song, some sort of musical talent must be there. Otherwise, anyone who knows how to work technology can make a song. Again, talent sets you apart from others. If everyone can do it, it is not talent. Also, $200 was an example price. My first keyboard was $50. It had good features. You could record directly on it. Despite having only.128 sounds, it was a good keyboard with all varieties of sounds. What I'm saying here is that keyboards have multiple instruments on them. They have a whole orchestra. EVERYTHING. And you are still playing a real instrument. One instrument. They are a better last resort than a soundboard. They are also easy to learn. To create a song, you have to come up with something that sounds good and is original. You have to have talent to play the instruments that make up songs. If you are not playing the instrument, and just re arranging what other people did, you don't make something totally and completely new.

@Gbhole A lot of people like to create songs that use multiple instruments using MIDI software because they either don't have access to some of the instruments or an entire band/orchestra. The soundboard is pretty similar in this case, that it allows people without having to buy multiple instruments for their song and having to either learn them all or trying to find some people that just so happen to play these instruments. And like my earlier point, $200 may not sound like a lot to you, but it can still be a pretty hefty price for others. And besides, you are setting aside the effort that it takes to make a song - figuring out the ideas for the song, the way the instrument(s) would be played in particular parts, revising parts to make it sound better with the song, mastering the song, and a lot of other things. I get that you are disappointed with people not playing instruments as much anymore, but you don't have to know how to play an instrument to have a talent for creating songs.

@TurtlesThatFly you dont need a 1000+ dollar instument. you can buy a used guitar for 200 bucks. A used keyboard for less. You can buy an old v-drums kit for 600. I had a cheap a keyboard with 200+ sounds. They were good sounds. They had drums, bass, guitar, percussion instruments, brass, woodwinds, synth, synth pads, and sound effects. If you are going to "make music," and you cant pay a lot of money, buy a cheap keyboard that still is nice. It was a Casio PX-575r. I sold it for $200. Even though a soundboard may be even less, atleast you would actually learn an instrument and make your own tunes, and not pre programmed ones. I have never ever used a soundboard. I'm pretty sure I would sound just as good as a "professional" in about 2 minutes. Talent is something that not everyone can do and sets you apart. Anyone can used a soundboard easily. And I never said all of todays music comes from one music.

Some people just don't happen to have a 1000+ dollar/pound/euro/whatever currency instrument lying around, if they want to use a soundboard, it could just be used as a cheaper alternative. Some people also like music that comes from one. And the whole "doesn't require talent" thing for making a tune sounds pretty BS. If you ask me it's nice that people are discovering their little talents and creating songs using tools that are becoming more accessible to them.

This is also somewhat generalizing... Not all of today's music comes from this certain instrument...

I hate average radio music, that you hear from stations that don’t have a certain genre. Pop music sucks. Final.

All pop songs today are just variations of the exact same song, just with slightly adjusted notes and different words. That’s what I hate the most.
