  • Debug logging? Is it possible in console? 3.3 years ago

@asteroidbook345 i know) thats what i do right now. Any idea how to write it into a file? Instead of repetedly writing down 5 variables from screen by hand?

  • Debug logging? Is it possible in console? 3.3 years ago

@asteroidbook345 thats exactly what i need. Any info?

  • Debug logging? Is it possible in console? 3.3 years ago

@WarHawk95 well, i know the debug command. I'm currently just testing it that way, pause the game in right moment (when aircraft is stabilized by me manually) and write down all the data to excel. That's like 25 data points in more than an hour. Do you know, is there a command so it not only shows the debugged parameter on display but also writes to a file? Or may be you know some kind of appropriate external program? i've tried ArtMoney, was able to find the required addresses in memory, but this old program is bugged and do not seem to have a logging option

  • Semedian Beribus CAC542-100LR "Sea Otter" 3.3 years ago

@SemedianIndustries Hm. Actually they all do not hold altitude too well, i understood after carefully testing most variants...

  • Semedian Beribus CAC542-100LR "Sea Otter" 3.3 years ago

    @SemedianIndustries
Well, so far nothing. I've tried 2 variants:
    1) (Activate4=1)?clamp(pow((270-IAS)/270,0.5)*(atan((rate(Altitude)-smooth(Trim,0.5)*38)/5)/90+atan(-PitchRate/5)/90),-1,1):(-Trim*0.5)

    2) (Activate4=1)?clamp(pow((270-IAS)/270,2)*(atan((rate(Altitude)-smooth(Trim,0.5)*38)/5)/90+atan(-PitchRate/5)/90),-1,1):(-Trim*0.5)

Both made it work much worse( the plane that did held altitude at AG4+ Trim=0 stopped that...

  • Semedian Beribus CAC542-100LR "Sea Otter" 3.3 years ago

@SemedianIndustries thanks, i'll try and report the result

    +1
  • Semedian Beribus CAC542-100LR "Sea Otter" 3.3 years ago

@SemedianIndustries any advise how to add that? I thing something connected to the speed is more realistic...

  • Semedian Beribus CAC542-100LR "Sea Otter" 3.3 years ago

@SemedianIndustries Well, i was trying to use your code for automatic trim and roll controll, i basically changed pitch input for trim input in your code:

    (Activate4=1)?clamp(atan((rate(Altitude)-Trim*20.32)/5)/90+atan(-PitchRate/5)/90,-1,1):(-Trim*0.7)

So when AG4 is active and trim = 0 they should fly more or less level and hold altitude change rate = 0 or close.
but cant find the reason why with pretty much the same code 2 planes (for example this one !tu-104d-3 ) when trim=0 hold altitude change rate pretty close to zero (between -0.2 an -0.2 m/s) while 2 other ones (!Tu-114) cant hold altitude change rate near 0 - this one usually holds +2m/s when accelerating and -2m/s when decelerating at least a bit, and even when more or less stable - at best deviates from 0 for at least 0.8 m/s.

Any ideas how to fix that?

  • Semedian Beribus CAC542-100LR "Sea Otter" 3.3 years ago

@SemedianIndustries well, i think i found a walkaround using vanilla airbrakes and smooth function so they don't pop up instantly. They do not pitch up an airplane (though it is not very realistic, real wing mounted spoilers/airbrakes do pitch up the plane, but on most planes it is compensated automatically

  • Semedian Beribus CAC542-100LR "Sea Otter" 3.3 years ago

    @SemedianIndustries Like that?
    (Activate5=1)?((Pitch=0)?((PitchAngle>0)?(sqrt(rate(PitchAngle)0.1)):(-sqrt(rate(-PitchAngle)0.1))):0):0

Apart from the ineffective code, i've just understood that the main problem is that i've trying to use that code to compensate the spoilers deployment at AG5. When i activate ag5 - spoilers (not vanila airbrakes but small wing pieces) deploy 30degrees up and that makes the plane pitch up. Code allowed the plane to at least stay at stable pitch angle after pitch up, but when AG5 is deactivated, plane pitches down violently, and spoilers take some time to get down, but any code stops working immediately making the pitch down even more violent.

@asteroidbook345 Yep, i totally see. Your new creations are totally top. And i was basically not playing for a year or so, after a dead SSD with all the stuff. Yet i got interested again when funky trees and XML dragratio was added. It allows for more realistic planes.

  • Semedian Beribus CAC542-100LR "Sea Otter" 3.3 years ago

Hi! your scripts for autothrottle, and trim and roll are amazing! Can i ask for a help?
I'm trying to wright an elevator control script based on PitchAngle variable that stabilizes a plane vertically when no Pitch input is present. Basically - that moves an elevator to minimize rate(PitchAngle). Kinda works, but... Sluggish and bouncy. May be you can do better? My current code (Pitch is on another rotator, this is for adjustable stabiliser):

    (Activate5=1)?((Pitch=0)?((PitchAngle>0)?(sqrt(rate(PitchAngle)0.1)):(-sqrt(rate(-PitchAngle)0.1))):0):0

  • Tupolev Tu-116 3.3 years ago

daaam! Wow! that landing gear is amasing! I've tried the same before my SSD died, but wasn able to make it moove that smooth. may i use it to finish tu-114 model we've tried to make together like 2 years ago?

  • Tupolev Tu-114 0.453 UNFINISHED 4.1 years ago

@ChiChiWerx well, i had not yet understood how to use funky trees, and now just playing with my old creations. Simplewings mod is actually very useful as it allows to tune flight modell a lot more than stock ones, especially stall specs. An it also adds good visual effects for airflow separation. I'm truing to make flaps more realistic now. Also it allows for exeptional programming interceptors with several inputs (instead of 9 rotators in my cv880). And drag tuning allowed to make planes glide at last, and made airbrakes really useful.
About the car - it is kinda amg of 80s. Amg was an independent company then, so for this model Cosworth is an official factory tuner with 190e 2.3-16 (mine) and 2.5-16 being like current c45 AMG (cheeper variant) and 2.5-16 Evolution as current top C63 amg. But essentially it is not AMG which is more like a luxury musclecar, but is a mercedes version of BMW M3 - torally much more a true racecar. It is very light (1 250 kg), very stiff suspension and no luxury features. Handles amasingly, it drives a lot better than my current daily driver - 2013 cls 350d. There was also an AMG version too, with a 3,6 inline 6 engine, but it handles a lot worse due to heavy engine. And there is still a lot work left with a car. Its in not so bad condition, but far from mint. It still needs some paintjob, interior restoration and a gearbox is whining, it works but definitely asks for a rebuilt. And there is a lot of tuning planned, very least i want to buy a torsen differential, adjustable shockabsorbers and a new engine intake.

@ChiChiWerx HI! Yes, it me) Since we all work from home due to the quarantine i have some more time. Also, the new update that allow editing drag gave me some interest in the game again. Unfortunately, my SSD died last fall, along with several new creations, since than i've lost some interest to play. and also, i've bought a 1988 sporty Mercedes 190e Cosworth as a hobby car, so that was probably the main time consumer)))

  • Tupolev Tu-114 0.453 UNFINISHED 4.1 years ago

@asteroidbook345 Yes, but hope these are just rumors. At leas they are going around for 2-3 years an yet nothing happened. Anyway, rumors tell that they are not going to tear down the museum, but to unite it with tank museum in Kubinka. Still there is a question how they can move those bigger planes if so.

  • Tupolev Tu-114 0.453 UNFINISHED 4.1 years ago

@asteroidbook345 unlikely) all three are in museums. And a bill for restoration of such an old 190 tonn plane would probably be not less than the same 190, but in million USD))) or half a billion easy)))

  • Tupolev Tu-114 0.453 UNFINISHED 4.1 years ago

@asteroidbook345 a, yaeh. There are three left, all in nice condition, and there are spare parts more or less available, but unlikely there is a billionaire eager to buy and restore them....

  • Tupolev Tu-114 0.453 UNFINISHED 4.1 years ago

    @asteroidbook345 what do you mean?
p.s. i think i gonna finish it one day, 2years passed)))) Unfortunately, i've lost all the progress since this version with my SSD along with 2 new planes - giant flying boat and a cargo plane (with hollow fuselage and loading equipment) based on tu-114 ((( It had an updated cockpit with better visibility and partially finished landing gear. Cant say i have more time now, but last update allowed to change drag on the planes, so they finally fly like they should and can glide, that restored some interest. I've already remade tu-104a, tu-104d-3 and myasichev 3m with lower drag, will post soon

  • Jet Engine 4.2 years ago

Can you please fix the fuel consumption?... so 4 engines do not consume as one... or make it at least adjustable?... And can you make so that if an engine have an activation group, it starts rotating, whining and smoking with 0 thrust as soon as it activated? that way it looks cooler. Thanks!

@XjayIndustrys i use an option of throttle governor in engine settings + Throttle controlls a pitch not engine throttle. You can actually make it reversable (though that means that on 0 throttle it will push the plane back). On my creation 0 throttle = 0 pitch angle (blades stay perpendicular to airflow) - that makes the plane decelerate very fast. I found the nice settings by trial and error. Try using my

  • Tupolev Tu-134 Replica Challenge 5.8 years ago

I finally fulfilled my dream and had a ride on a real tu-134!!! It was actually awesomе. A group of plane enthusiasts rented a 1983 Tu-134ak-3 (former soviet "business jet" configuration) operated by Roskosmos (Russian NASA) and made a trip from Vnukovo airport around moscow on low altitude, than we made a low pass over the runway Zhukovsky Airfield (research airfield with 6 KM long runway for testing new airplanes, where the MAKS aviation exhibition is held), landed there, made a photo session of the most preserved Tu-144 that was rolled out for us, and had flown back to Vnukovo. The Tu-134 was 35 years old, but had only flew 17 000 hours from designated 55 000, and it really was almost new. I expected it to feel dated and unusual, but in fact you wouldn't be able to tell it from any small modern airliner. It may be even better actually. It was extremely quit, soft flying, and it has unbeliavably soft landing gear. Compared to b737 or a320, it goes over bumps on runway and taxyways like a mercedes compared to some kind of chippo budget car. And it makes totally no sounds like screeks or bumps. It only differed from new planes by old-styled interior and HUGE round windows. Like 1,5 times wider and 1,2 times higher than an a320. Here is some videos: !Полет рад полета, Ту-134

  • Tupolev Tu-134 1st Series 1966 5.8 years ago

i will try, but not sure will have time. BTW, 2 weeks ago i've flew a real one in a kind of a retro flight. Was cool. Although the plane expreience was quite usual. No difference from modern planes except for big round windows and old school interior design. We also had a photo session with a supersonic tu-144

  • Realistic Convair CV-880 Swissair 5.9 years ago

@KerlonceauxIndustries Thanks. Mine lags too, a bit, Dont really understand which way it is different from my other planes. Suspect its physics calculations regarding spoiler and spoilerons. It started when i added them. And there are 6 sets with 5-8 rotators each, while on tu-104d-3, where i first tried this system - only 3 sets. It helps if you set "real time" priority to simpleplanes process in windows.
About 2707 - i thought of making something like that, and i can. But realitically, i play only seldom, just dont have enough time due to total job overload and some personal matters. Also we try to make a game of our own with friends. For example, cant finish a Tu-114 for several months. And i just have to finish ;anding gear and cockpit.
If you you want a collab on 2707 - we can start, but it will be real slow.

About the Baade 152 - it has an interesting history as well. It is based on Junkers EF-150, another source made by junkers engineers headed by Brunolf Baade at the time for USSR as payment in war reparations programm (they alse were developing a famous EF-132 for USSR, though only smaller EF-150 was built and saw air) as a replacement for IL-28 jet bomber. It was superior to IL-28 but didnt got into production offcially because it was not superior enough to change from already produced and proven IL-28 plus the crash of the prototype and possibly due to lobby from domestic russian aircraft design companys. It was, however used for developing swept wings for Tupolev Tu-16 and Myasichev M-4 and a bicycle landing gear for the latter. Nice looking plane in general. May be going to build it one day.
