apparently so that in case if the gear mechanism fails, the aircraft will still be able to land with minor damage
if you see the KF-21's maiden flight you can see that it does this as well
(replying to a comment on why the gear is always down)

you get two fuselages, cut the top section of one of the parts to above 50%, and the other the bottom section above 50% reference image

if you don't put a vertical stabilizer, it doesn't have a way to stabilize itself in the yaw so it just veers off
tbh it depends on the selling point and how "interesting" it looks on first sight
you can just put a hidden vertical stabilizer
or
if you're crazy, you can use some other measures I won't mention
