@DieLoaf the 2x bonus is to promote the making of VR friendly aircraft, its only happening for a limited amount of time, likely ending within the next month
@AirCrashInvestigationFLR look at the rest of the forums, theres comments on almost all of em. Simpleplanes.com works a bit different from other forum sites
@HorizonWXR tip for VR comparability, dont attach the stick directly to a control base, make sure there is at least a 0.5 long fuselage in-between the base and the grip for optional sensitivity and control
Some quick clarification, can i use other sources of propulsion? (Not jet engines or prop engines)
.
I am going to bend these rules to their absolute limit
Current goals:
Time under 40 seconds.
Part count under 50
.
Just a warning, my entry will be designed for use by the in-game AI, and my be hard/sensitive to drive manually
@xNotDumb blocks have more polygons than straight blocks or .25 scales fuselages. I'm currently using labels as they have even less polygons.
.
Wait I just realized I can use the hide part feature to just remove the polygons
@xNotDumb I'm currently using a method that isn't just randomly placing parts to get to crazy numbers, am currently at 80,000 and am figuring out how to add more parts without causing errors. Going for crazy part counts is more of an engineering challenge than a design one. You have to learn how to squeeze every drop of power out of your system. As of right now, my computer CPU and RAM aren't breaking a sweat at 80,000 parts, but something else is the bottleneck. I belive I'm maxing out my VRAM at the moment, so my only way forward is pronably to reduce the amount of polygons I need to render. My goal is 100,000 parts, so there will likely be more technical challenges to overcome, like actually uploading the thing. It took 10 minutes to upload the 30,000 version, so 100,000 parts will likely cause a timeout of some sort.
.
Yes I've tried overclocking my GPU it didn't help
@Nick7777 missclick, I went and did some chores after that so I'll spotlight now.
.
Edit: the successor breaks the site rules, so I'll ship it off to the mods to have it expunged
@geek1love i dont think andrew is on this, if it were a moderator or curator he would have been involved though. anyay, none of us really know who you are talking about, nobody on the first few pages is using neo-nazi symbols in their PFP. please tell me who this user is, as i appear to be too blind to see who it is. are you talking about xSUPERTTx?
@jamesPLANESii first gold, then platinum. We have an account with fully successor bonus points, now we're gonna have an account reach plat with only modified builds.
(Andrew reached plat off of forum posts, so we already have had that checked off for a while)
@MrGreen im not even close to done, ill change out this for my 30 second 400mph version once i get it working
@MontgomeryGator each island is a single 3d model not including airports, there is no seafloor between islands, just empty void
+1note to self: backup everything to SD card
+3@BomberBoy2 when im cranking through large amounts of aircraft, about a minute or two, enough to see if the controls work and to see if its flyable.
+1@MontgomeryGator unlike SR2, the sea of simpleplanes is a bottomless void
@DieLoaf the 2x bonus is to promote the making of VR friendly aircraft, its only happening for a limited amount of time, likely ending within the next month
just published my entry, let the games begin...
That isnt near the amount I've got
(Please ask the other curators instead of me, its getting to the point where i cant do them all)
Partial fuselages are a thing now, such detail can be done with relative ease
+1@jamesPLANESii disconnect all on said part, mirror, reconnect
@AirCrashInvestigationFLR look at the rest of the forums, theres comments on almost all of em. Simpleplanes.com works a bit different from other forum sites
Theres a rally challenge with a bunch of loopholes rn, lemmie grab the link to it
Edit: here
Doesn't seem to happen on my phone, whats the specs of yours?
This sometimes happens even if there isnt a part on the other side
+7@MrGreen dangit, theres still many loopholes i can abuse, so ill go abuse those
@MrGreen do i HAVE to use car engines?
Can i just have the engine be throttle?
(Dustofprey's car uses just pitch so ill just use throttle for the time being
Interesting
+1(I thought the 2x bonus was over already)
@MrGreen
got it
any updates?

1000 parts? Rookie numbers.

A flying veloceraptor with a mustache wearing a Sombrero dual wielding AK-47s while rollerskating
+1I'll spotlight this after cooldown
+1With some changes, this could be the new stock quadcopter
+1@jamesPLANESii I'll send you a vid of me doing it
@jamesPLANESii you can selectively mirror just one part, you know that, right?
+1Its already on the other side, just mirror.
This gif is so relatable it pains my soul
Funky trees switches exist now, no need
+4i was not expecting this
@b00stJuNKy Freerider's Orca III, a prototype version i heavily modified for VR

+4that IP address doesnt actually exist
+3not sure who your talking about. andrew would have already raptured the culprit
+1I thought we already did this

5.6 years for me. Getting closer.
Watch yo language
@vincent
@Frtik77 it fills the entire cockpit, its weird. I already sent this off to the devs
This thing is really fun to joyride in VR, sadly theres no steering wheel
