Is the name a reference to the reverse joint? And also, is the nickname referring to the fact that the character this mecha was named after lost both of her lower legs in a tragic car accident?
The plane have a tendency to yaw to the the right when taking off; also, increasing the angle of the arresting hook would help with the landing.
P.S.: What is the new technique you've mentioned?
@Hyattorama Even if it would, it would still be the world's LEAST efficient aircraft design EVER - given how much energy is lost when the piston "catches" the wing and accelerates them into the other direction.
Other than the constant headache when looking at this thing and my brain yelling "WHY DOES THIS EVEN EXIST" to me, I have to say that this thing is as cool as it is weird.
@EliteArsenals24 Make sense. Sorta understood how to build a similar system myself; the standard pimped-out bomb/rocket/missile trick, but used for boosting the plane instead of bombing the enemies?
@CenturiVonKikie Trust me, I'm not that into dogs (or any non-human lifeform in general), but I AM interested in planes; also, just realized you changed your gravatar after your previous comment, the dog is cute.
Other than the three front wheels giving me a headache, everything looks fine; also, although I would still say that this design is a bit "Astley", the orange paint job and blue lights carried a distinctive Spefy-ness in it.
@ColonelStriker Actually I doubt if F-22 would be more useful in its current role as an air-superiority fighter if it was an VTOL, but it is pretty much common knowledge that F-35 is, well... over-engineered, to say at least.
@EternalDarkness Yup, the problem is that in-game surface-to-air missiles does not lock on to a cruise missile (well they don't even show up on radar), while auto-cannons lacks true fragmentation. I guess projectiles with XML'ed sizes (within a certain limit, of course) are allowed?
@EternalDarkness How fast can the cruise missile go? How large is it? How tough is it? What is the mass of its warhead (so that I can get an idea on how close it can get)? I'm asking this so that I can use those data to set up my own simulation and build weapons that fit the criteria.
@MTakach You serious? Etty is among one of the greatest shipwrights in the entire community. A quick look at his list of builds should be enough to explain that.
@WIZARD2017 Yup, just realized that... For some reason the detachers and pylons have a delay-deploy but the parachutes don't. Hope this gets fixed in another update.
I assume this is what Germany (and whatever extraterrestrial space/planets Germany would hold) will have after humanity have reached casual FTL travel?
Could you please give a map to this area? I mean I can't quite understand where I am when flying inside this map... Also, could anybody please tell me which island (and if possible, which location) is the nexus designer on?
@RamboJutter Well, I mean making all those builds would take quite a lot of energy. It is very understandable that an master builder like you might want to take a break. Looking forward to your return, and godspeed.
@spefyjerbf Don't worry, its always good for experts like you to try out something new. Although I personally like your style better for it's cyber-punk designs, I would say that those delicate designs would not be great choices for off-roading.
@spefyjerbf Yup, just saw a bunch of screenshots of that base-on-wheels on steam, I have to say that specific vehicle have a rather distinctive hull shape and painting scheme - it almost felt as if it's designed by Astley Industries for its simple geometry and vertical sides. Anyways, keep up the good work!
@AerialFighterSnakes By the time the movie was made, flyable WWII Japanese planes are few; also, you need a LOT of flyable machines, and risking some of the only remaining ones won't be a choice.
@Zott Although not "everyone", many are similar enough - that's how people made the movie Tora! Tora! Tora! - there aren't that many flyable WWII Japanese warplanes around anymore, so they decided to simply build replicas out of T-6 Texans and BT-13 Valiants.
@jamesPLANESii Well, those American planes with their massive radial engines indeed look similar to each other... Especially since the cockpit of this thing is slightly longer than the more commonly seen production model, making it even more similar to the T-6 Texan/Harvard.
@RadarJamJar Damn. Should have realized that. Bonus point for the auto-credit.
"Really heavy"... Do you mean "Non-AGRAV"?
Is the name a reference to the reverse joint? And also, is the nickname referring to the fact that the character this mecha was named after lost both of her lower legs in a tragic car accident?
What's going on with the missiles?
@Ownedpilot Ha, gotcha. Thanks.

+7@EliteArsenals24 Make sense. Sorta understood how to build a similar system myself; the standard pimped-out bomb/rocket/missile trick, but used for boosting the plane instead of bombing the enemies?
Just... How does the hyper-boost work?
@CenturiVonKikie Trust me, I'm not that into dogs (or any non-human lifeform in general), but I AM interested in planes; also, just realized you changed your gravatar after your previous comment, the dog is cute.
+1@CenturiVonKikie What?
Avatar?

Just realized that you basically bombed the Pearl Harbor in its WWII configuration with a supersonic jet fighter...
That ending...
@ColonelStriker Actually I doubt if F-22 would be more useful in its current role as an air-superiority fighter if it was an VTOL, but it is pretty much common knowledge that F-35 is, well... over-engineered, to say at least.
When F-35 and F-22 have a child...
Beautiful...
Basically a remake of an old flamethrower of yours?

Could you please explain how gun systems would be evaluated? Will the aiming mod be used?

@WIZARD2017 Yup, just realized that... For some reason the detachers and pylons have a delay-deploy but the parachutes don't. Hope this gets fixed in another update.
Is it possible to use the new "delay" feature of the detachers to have the pilot automatically separating from the ejection seat?
I assume this is what Germany (and whatever extraterrestrial space/planets Germany would hold) will have after humanity have reached casual FTL travel?
@HarryBen47 It reads "I xml'ed them to a very tiny size"
@Simpleplaner656 LMAO'ed
@TheFantasticTyphoon THX.
+1Where the hell are we supposed to find that cursed arsenal ship, though?
+1@CrazyCatZe I guess so; that's what made this design cool in the first place... Also, it's "Douglas" not "Duglas".
@CrazyCatZe I mean this plane looks a bit... weird...
Why...
@spefyjerbf Don't worry, it's just me thinking "Hey, wouldn't it be nice to take off straight from the in-game designer?". I'm a weirdo, that's it.
+1Could you please give a map to this area? I mean I can't quite understand where I am when flying inside this map... Also, could anybody please tell me which island (and if possible, which location) is the nexus designer on?
@Zippy6 Ok... Still cool though. Also, wish you good luck on the path to aerospace engineering.

+1The afterburner will only be deactivated if you bring the throttle down, THEN deactivate group 2. Did you just forget to set zeroOnDeactivate to true?
- Yup I know this post is ancient, but I'm just too snarky for my own good.
+1Good to see another build from you! Also, goodbye and goodluck.

It's... beautiful... Also, it's always good to see another one of your fantastic builds.
Can't read a thing... Great plane though!
Yup my first thought on this thing is "Well this looks like a ram's head!"
I didn't see any similarity (other than the B+B-B+B wheel arrangement) between this and whatever that C-666 is...
+1@AerialFighterSnakes Those are the B-17s and the P-40s, and neither are filmed to be flying in large formations
