@EternalDarkness of course :) thanks for the spotlight.

  • Phalanx II 'Bridge Buster' 7.5 years ago

    Thanks again, @Planefun

  • C-D Type-110 7.5 years ago

    Shiny. I like it.

  • Phalanx II 'Bridge Buster' 7.5 years ago

@BaconRoll Did you expect anything less? :)

  • Sky Dart 7.5 years ago

    Flies surprisingly well.

  • Phalanx 7.5 years ago

@chancey21 No problem, hope you had fun with it.

  • Phalanx 7.5 years ago

    Thanks, @Davisplanez

  • Sled Zeppelin 7.5 years ago

@datpilotguy Dirty Harry would be envious.

  • Phalanx II 'Bridge Buster' 7.5 years ago

@Davisplanez At SledDriver Industries, we're all about fun.

  • Phalanx II 'Bridge Buster' 7.5 years ago

@Sheeper @Planefun Thanks. It didn't take as many tries as you might think, because I already have aimable howitzers like this one that give me the traverse angle, elevation angle, and detachForce I need. So I start off with a mortar that's already ranged, and it takes between 10-20 tries to get it accurate enough to hit a specific point on the bridge, like the central column on the eastern bridge in the GIF.

  • Talon 7.5 years ago

    @KSPFSXandSP OK, I'll make a tutorial post.

  • Apollo-SD 7.5 years ago

@KSPFSXandSP Affirmative, Eagle, it's in case you encounter little green men.

  • Phalanx 7.5 years ago

    @chancey21 Here you go.

  • stellara frigate 7.5 years ago

@goboygo1 Here's my version, it flies quite well. I also added an unobstructed cockpit view, and some guns, because why not.

  • 546-H Racing Razor 7.5 years ago

@FGW2014 Very innovative as usual, but it's too flat from the side view. Some thickness would make it much more appealing.

  • Hypno-Stuka 7.5 years ago

@Cream Thanks. I think you'll find that flight performance is quite consistent across my recent builds.

  • Audacius 7.5 years ago

@JangoTheMango In that case, go for it.

  • Audacius 7.5 years ago

@JangoTheMango Since you're on Windows, you can use shaders (via Reshade) to enhance the look of your game, and of course in-game screenshots. A lot less work than photo editing. A link to my shaders is on my profile, at the end.

  • Audacius 7.5 years ago

    @JangoTheMango

To me, an argument is an opportunity to either help someone see the truth, or be shown the truth by them -- it's a win-win situation. But to most people, it's about winning and ego preservation, whether they're right or wrong. Lost an argument? No problem, just label the other person something negative (nasty, bully, egomaniac, etc.) so you can discard the fact that they were right, and your ego remains unbruised.

Second, there's this thing called projection, where the person is so self-centred that they attribute their own thoughts and motives to everyone around them. So I use an example of picking a fight with the Hulk, in the sense that "if you don't like outcome X, don't start a situation where outcome X is guaranteed." But the other person chooses to interpret it as "I'm the Hulk, hurr durr, behold my ego," which says everything about them and nothing about me.

Anyway, I'm glad you find this build interesting. Experimenting with different forms is what gave me my current understanding of the SP flight model. Your builds are quite good as well and have a unique style which is great, although I think presenting them against a detailed background makes it hard to see the details on the build itself. If you used a less cluttered background and zoomed in on the build a little, I think you'd get more attention.

  • Apollo-SD 7.5 years ago

@Jetspeed1001 That's the idea. It's based off the Command and Service Module of the Saturn V rocket that was used in the Apollo missions.

  • ReinWeiss E01M4S3 EX.Class_Singularity 7.5 years ago

Outstanding. If you used a shinier finish it would be twice as appealing.

  • Hypno-Stuka 7.5 years ago

@Stingray City of Angels, huh? Nice.

Check out the video as well, you might enjoy it.

  • SSBN Colombia 7.5 years ago

Nice. Now I'm tempted to build a submarine.

  • Leopard 1 Tank Destroyer 7.5 years ago

You have some very nice builds, but they're being overlooked because they're very dark and don't show up against a dark background. Try a designer background mod that provides some contrast and makes your posts more eye-catching.

  • Hypno-Stuka 7.5 years ago

@Treadmill103 Thanks. You just made me realise I left a bug in this build. Both the sets of "blades" were supposed to be contra-rotating, but I forgot to hook up the second set to the correct input. Oh well. It still works. If you VTOL up you can see the problem.

  • Sled Zeppelin 7.5 years ago

What's in a name? That which we call a plane
By any other name would fly as smooth. @Kevinairlines

  • Apollo-SD 7.5 years ago

Thanks, @RailfanEthan. That's a serious obsession with beans you've got there...

  • V-27 Canon 7.5 years ago

Great design. I like how you included a magazine, fluted barrel, telescopic sight, and everything.

  • missile box 7.5 years ago

@birthdaysnake Yeah, I made a very big, very slow cruise missile powered by a Cleaver. I never posted it though.

  • missile box 7.5 years ago

I haven't flown many missile-powered aircraft before this one, but this flies very well. Clever. But if you want to make complex builds, you'll have to use engines, and modded ones at that.

  • the amazing roto rocket 7.5 years ago

Wow, this is an amazingly creative way to do vectored thrust. Ingenious. Very nicely done. Now just learn how to make your builds visually interesting, and you'll get the attention you deserve.

  • Mig-25X 7.5 years ago

@Stingray I rarely use missiles myself, they're just not as effective as my custom weapons. But if using cleavers, if you fire them in very closely spaced bursts of three or four, you have a guaranteed kill of the Snowstone defenses. I don't know if you have this on mobiles/tablets, but on desktop there are two laser guns on either side of the missile launchers. If you drop a bomb or fire a missile at the launchers, the lasers will shoot it down. So you need enough to overwhelm the laser guns. You need to fire them close together, but not too close, otherwise when a laser blows up one missile, the rest blow up from sympathetic detonation.

My dive bombers, and the carpet bomber can all take out Snowstone with high reliability (8 out of 10 attempts if starting fresh, 10/10 with some warmup).

The plasma shotguns make it too easy all over again.

My long-range mortar is the easiest, no-skill-required, but slow way to guaranteed-kill all the defenses. Spawning at Wright, it takes 3 minutes 20 seconds to take out Snowstone (35 seconds to prepare for launch, and 2 min 45 seconds shell flight time).

  • Mig-25X 7.5 years ago

@Stingray What do you mean, lacking missile elimination? The first thirty seconds are all about shooting down incoming missiles and destroying the missile launchers.

  • Talon 7.5 years ago

@birthdaysnake Your bp-1 is a very good plane, especially for someone with just six builds. The shape is very aerodynamic, and it flies quite well. About the only thing you got wrong is the placement of the rear landing gear -- it's too far back. It needs to be just behind the center of mass. Another thing is that the wings are too thick - for a supersonic-looking airplane like this, they need to be like knife blades.

To build high-performance planes, you'll need to get into XML modding. Try my parts kits here, here, and here. The first one has pretty much all the modded parts I use (fuselage blocks with different massScales, engines with different power outputs, and scaled wings).

To get better, first, get the fundamentals of flight right. You're already off to a good start. The other thing that'll help you the most is learning how to use fuselage blocks.

You can look at my earliest posts to see how to use fuselage blocks to create lots of different shapes.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, I'm always happy to answer.

  • Audacius 7.5 years ago

    @TheBlueRobotProduct Hmm, probably not.

  • Mig-25X 7.5 years ago

@Stingray so what did you think of the video?

  • Mig-25X 7.5 years ago

@Stingray Or, you know, I could post a video. First attempt, no edits.

"A man's word is his bond."
-- James Bond (well, not really)

  • Mig-25X 7.5 years ago

@Stingray Are you saying you don't believe me? :)

  • Mig-25X 7.5 years ago

@Stingray Why glide when you can use a hover-type build? I did it months ago with Daedalus. A small enough hover-build can go anywhere, including inside the boathouse and the pyramid, land on the bridges, etc.

  • Mig-25X 7.5 years ago

@Stingray Number of ways I have killed the Snowstone defences:

There may be a few more that I can't think of right now.

Not sure whether it should be a default location -- not being one gives the players incentives to come up with ways to overcome the defenses.

  • Apollo-SD 7.5 years ago

    Glad to hear it, @EliteArsenals24

  • Audacius 7.5 years ago

@TheBlueRobotProduct Yes, I wrote a bunch of programs. Not sure what you mean by 2D or 3D. The output is clearly 3D, but it doesn't have a 3D user interface if that's what you mean.

As for your other question, I'm not sure what a 'plane looking plane' means to you. Is this or this a plane looking plane?

  • Mig-25X 7.5 years ago

Nice. I prefer to fire missiles using FireWeapons because that lets you carry more missiles, for one thing, and still fire them in bursts of 2, 3, or however many you want.

I don't usually add missiles to my builds because I think that they take the skill (and therefore fun) out of hitting targets. A guns-only kill, especially air-to-air, is the most exhilarating thing I can imagine. I've got some finely tuned dogfighters that make dueling with the AI quite fun, if not exactly challenging.

  • Seawolf Deathray 07 7.5 years ago

@Stingray I'm always up for being named as a culprit, especially of cannons. Look forward to testing your builds.

  • Tenacius 7.5 years ago

    Thanks, @Davisplanez

  • Brute 7.5 years ago

    Dank you, @iLikeipads

  • Brute 7.5 years ago

    @SkiClad I get it :)

  • Audacius 7.5 years ago

I'm glad you enjoy my work, @Alpha029

  • Apollo-SD 7.5 years ago

Aw thanks, @Alpha029, you're too kind.

  • Apollo-SD 7.5 years ago

@Treadmill103 Thanks, I actually meant to reduce power on the engines, but forgot. Glad you like it.
