@XVIindustries it was one of the toughest exclusions to make, but I feel like it doesn't have the same global appeal as the rest of the list. Every country had its own hero fighter, as Brits we're just particularly fond of ours
@TheW4terDrop it happens to absolutely everyone. The most popular planes get upwards of a thousand downloads, and usually only thirty or so votes. I think some way of voting from within the game would alleviate the problem a little, but until then we'll all have to just try not to be part of the problem
@Meawk I always saw the F-15 as being more equivalent to the Su-27. The F-15 is definitely a better all-round fighter than the MiG, but I like the MiG for what it is. I would have liked to include a lot of other planes, like the Vulcan and the Spitfire, but I had to keep it to just ten. Your own list can have the F-15!
@Theonebeardarmy if you have the PC version, you can xml edit it or use the nudge controls. On android, you can xml edit. On Apple systems, I think you're out of luck, but I can do it for you if build everything else and then send it to me.
da Vinci's flyer. One-off the earliest examples of someone actually more or less nailing all the right ideas for flight.
BAe Harrier. A classic design, devastatingly effective even against seemingly superior fighters.
Lockheed Martin SR-71. The iconic spy plane, and anything which is literally too fast to shoot down is automatically cool.
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25. They strapped a pilot to such an absurd amount of power that it could take on the Blackbird and even shoot down satellites.
Sukhoi Su-27. Huge, powerful, well-armed, incredibly agile, and very good looking to boot.
Boeing 747. The archetypal passenger jet, and probably the most likely one for anyone to be able to name.
Concorde. It had its trouble, but the UK and France came together to create something really remarkable here. It's sad that we can't see it flying any more.
Zivko Edge 540. This gave us the Red Bull Air Race, what more do you need?
Junkers Ju-87. The most famous threat to the Allies in WWII, which even managed to define a whole strategy of aerial warfare.
The Wright flyer. It couldn't not be included, could it?
There are other planes I like more personally, but these are the ones that I think have had the biggest cultural impact.
There is a big forum post about this, it is probably the most-requested feature and shows up regularly in the forums. There is a multiplayer mod in progress, too.
The only way you could really do this would be to put several smaller stabilisers in the exact same place, all clipped through each other. There's no way to make a single part do this.
What's happening is that your prop can't keep up with your airspeed. If this is because of a dive, pull up. If it's because of a jet engine, turn the jet off. Keep the prop thrust up, though
Isn't that exactly what the forums are for, though? I agree that some people need to learn to search for the question before posting it again, but that's not everyone
@Timmy123429 to explain a few basics, since Nukelar gave you the names.
The relationship between the CoL and CoM is very important. If the CoL is ahead of the CoM, your plane will be unstable and will effectively try to turn around all the time. If the CoL is too far behind the CoM, your plane will be so stable that it basically can't turn. Try to keep the CoL just a little behind the CoM, and experiment to find the balance of agility and stability that you want.
Normally you don't need to worry about the CoT. It can be as far away from the CoM as you like as long as it is at roughly the same height and not off to one side. The CoT and CoL don't really affect each other.
VTOL planes are an exception to the rule about CoT no mattering much. To hover properly, the CoT should preferably be as close to the CoM as possible.
@Sirstupid if it helps, the big fuselage section that covers it all is decorative, and the plane does work without it. Is other stuff allowed to be clipped?
If you're on PC or Android you can edit the save files of your planes with a text editor, usually referred to as xml editing or modding on this site. This lets you type any size you like, along with a bunch of other stuff like changing the maximum thrust of engines and positioning parts in ways that are otherwise impossible. Users on iOS can't usually do this because Apple hides the game files away. What you can do is save parts from other designs as subassemblies, or request them here on the forums if you can't find anything suitable.
It depends on what is wrong. Sometimes using a lot of small wing sections can cause this, so replacing as many as you can with structural wings can help. Sometimes there's just a daft glitch with attaching the parts, so pulling them off and reattaching them or mirroring from the opposite side from usual can sort it. If none of these things work, upload it unlisted and give me a link, I'll take a look
Fortunately for most of us, SP simplifies airfoils quite a bit. Living up to its name, I guess.
Symmetric: no lift at zero angle of attack.
Semi-symmetric: some lift at zero angle of attack.
Flat-bottom: a lot of lift at zero angle of attack.
They lose effectiveness at higher altitudes, of course - usually somewhere above 80,000ft is where I find that the air becomes a bit too thin for normal planes. The main use of these airfoil profiles is to balance your plane for level flight, though. If your plane noses down all the time, use an airfoil with more lift at the front, or one with less near the back. If it noses up, do the opposite.
Right so I decided to make it more interesting by trying to land the biggest plane I could there. Here's the image, and here is video proof that I didn't just land there in something smaller and save the location. I'm afraid it has the music I was listening to in it, mute if you don't like Nightwish.
@laSoul @BehrmanTheBeerman apparently there's no way to revert versions on Steam. SP is fairly small, though, so I guess you could back up your AircraftDesigns folder and try a reinstall?
@Sirstupid they may not be online just now, I'm afraid. I wouldn't worry too much, nobody is paying Dudebag any attention, and the mods always seem to be pretty good about sorting it when they can

In no particular order:
da Vinci's flyer. One-off the earliest examples of someone actually more or less nailing all the right ideas for flight.
BAe Harrier. A classic design, devastatingly effective even against seemingly superior fighters.

How many can we vote for?
@Spikerya I'll test this out on my laptop later, it looks good
There is a big forum post about this, it is probably the most-requested feature and shows up regularly in the forums. There is a multiplayer mod in progress, too.
@Spikerya @General360 I can fit your planes with some weapons and put them against each other if you want
The only way you could really do this would be to put several smaller stabilisers in the exact same place, all clipped through each other. There's no way to make a single part do this.

Well I looked through my planes and it turns out that I made far more than the two I mentioned on the other post, so here they are:
Fairfield Fuath, fictional WWII fighter (unarmed successor available)
Fairfield Kelpie, fictional WWI seaplane
MiG-8, replica
Aeroprogress T-720, replica
Eagleray, challenge entry
Saab 21, replica
Most of these are pretty basic, having been made on a low-end phone, but I hope they're what you're looking for.
Isn't that exactly what the forums are for, though? I agree that some people need to learn to search for the question before posting it again, but that's not everyone
@Sirstupid alright, I'll make another one tomorrow hopefully. This thing was sorta fun regardless

Feel free to ask if you have questions

@AeroEngineering simpleplanes.com uses Markdown formatting. To put something in quotes, put a > symbol in front of it
@HamFam870 presumably with, unless you want to lose lift for some reason

@Droslash no worries. Look up Markdown formatting, that's what this site uses, although it's a simplified and reduced version on here
@RocketLL yeah, I think we all have
@Droslash use this format:
So, for your plane:
Becomes Flying Cube
This looks awesome, I'll come back and test it as soon as I can. I think you should be fine in the challenge, DogeZ hasn't moved it along yet
@Sirstupid hahaha, maybe I should attach a couple under the wings of a bomber
@Sirstupid yeah I can't argue about the flyability (or lack thereof) hahaha. Everything has been sacrificed to make it smaller
@Sharkie thanks for the vote!
@OtterOfToast this could make for the most hilarious role-playing game. Everyone pick a communist state from Papers Please!
@Sharkie BAe is British Aerospace, the real-life company that builds the Taranis

So close
@grizzlitn @Sharkie hahaha, thanks
Link to Sirstupid's smallest plane challenge
How's this?
Also, it turns out that the paddles can actually power it by themselves if you make the engine powerful enough
This is a beautiful bit of design, nice work
@DeezDucks in that case I have no idea. Go and test for us?
@DeezDucks oh you mean the cloud sync when you close it? No, that's normal
@laSoul @BehrmanTheBeerman apparently there's no way to revert versions on Steam. SP is fairly small, though, so I guess you could back up your AircraftDesigns folder and try a reinstall?
@Bloodkoopa there you go
@Bloodkoopa hold on, I'll edit with links
Nah that's supposed to happen, RCNs are bound to the RCN on/off button, or action group 8 in the newest update
@laSoul did you guys update recently? If so, I'm going to avoid doing so for now
Trying to make this build work
@CrazyCrafty I remember you having this issue, did anything come of it?
@Sirstupid they may not be online just now, I'm afraid. I wouldn't worry too much, nobody is paying Dudebag any attention, and the mods always seem to be pretty good about sorting it when they can
