You're thinking of IRST (Infrared Search & Track)
Most Russian aircraft post MiG-23 use it and the British, Italian, and Spanish Eurofighters use the PIRATE IRST system
It's usually tandem with a radar, and afaik cannot provide guidance to a radar missile
