Flaps create a downwards force of air in the wings which causes the nose to pitch upwards, they are typically used during takeoff and landings and used to be used extensively in combat (back when props were dominant)
When landing, the flaps will cause the aircraft to pitch up, which leads to "flaring" which is how aircraft are supposed to land (back wheels touch down first, nose wheel touches down soon after), and they especially cause a lot of pitching when gliding because your plane is now unpowered and running entirely off of lift, and those flaps are creating more at the cost of increased drag (and slowing down the plen)
@StopBreathingMyAir to commemorate i think 100,000 tonnes of napalm/explosives dropped on Vietnam, the USNAF strapped fins and a nosecone to a toilet filled to the brim with napalm and then strapped it to the outermost right pylon of an A-1H Skyraider and dropped it

Hey! If you need help getting custom missiles to fly:
Remove drag and mass from the body of the missile (so everything in this model)
Next, take a detacher, remove it's activation group and derach force, then connect the body to the back of the detacher with the attachment menu (found in the rotations tab at the top)
Then, attach an interceptor to the bottom of the detacher and use XML to mod it's characteristics (see any of my custom missiles for help btw)
Now, just use fine tuner (below the atrachment menu) to push it all into eachother, and boom! Custom missile!
@TateNT34 go take the code from the Icarus-3A Railcannon's rotators, they are tuned to 1100m/s, just go in and change that to the velocity of the guns and raise the rotation speed

Also, Germany being top dog is something that WWII caused, and jet development wasnt reliant on the war (the P-59, for example, was made prior to the war and was being tested. The Me-262 and Gloster Meteor afaik are the only jets directly created because of the war, other than the Me-163 (and the Japanese counterparts)
@YourAverageB1BLancerSimp oooo okay, the UCF is legally recognized as part of the TAF already, and they are only allowed to designate restricted zones without government approval (aka, they can designate a no-fly zone and send up aircraft immediately during a terrorist threat without approval from the government), part of which comes from the CEO of Umbra being an officer in the TAF, they have never and will never be allowed to perform much more without government approval
The reason for this is because, say a terrorist hijacked an aircraft and had just flown into the Hexagon. Due to a section of our government receiving direct physical damage that then clogs up the military COC's work, Umbra is allowed to then secure a NFZ until higher ups in the COC determine otherwise
They can also partition cities and blockade our ports, but they arent allowed outside of Fishland's territory without prior approval
Oh, and the UCF isnt allowed to fire on anything until three members of our Military HiCom have okayed it, unless the threat has directly fired upon Fishland, in which case only one member of HiCom has to okay it (see NATO's "1-key 2-key" system, or specifically, look up the banja luca incident (I think thats right, either way it was the last real time US aircraft have fired upon aircraft of another nation and it was during the Bosnia conflict. It's linked on Scott O'Grady's Wikipedia article)
