Drag a part or parts to the subassembly box in the top left corner. If you go to add a part, scroll down and tap sub assemblies. Now you can copy stuff.

I recommend that if you're using American tanks, the M22 and M10 are pretty good. The M10 is well... a tank. I've had Tigers bounce shells off the rear of my turret. The gun will penetrate anything if you find the right spot. For planes, the PBY-5a is pretty good because you can purchase the 4,000lbs of bombs and kill a base one set. So basically, it's a flying money machine.
