I absolutely love this plane. It just looks fantastic. Has that beautiful 30s-40s look. I also love the rudimental defensive gun. Just letting you know though, the RPK was designed and built in the very early 60s
I played around with it a bit more and there are a few things I think you can do to make this fly waaaay better (not that it flies bad now). Because you lowered the drag points a lot, it can now reach its realistic max speed without having insane acceleration. However, because of the lack of drag points, this thing hardly loses energy at all when a real plane should. I was pulling an 8 G min radius turn at 45% throttle starting at 340KIAS and it kept accelerating when in reality that should bleed off energy very quickly. There are two simple things I would highly recommend to make this fly a lot more realistically. One is to reduce the engine power to get a realistic TWR. That will make acceleration even more realistic and make the takeoff roll longer like it is in real life. Second, I would add two air breaks with a variation of this command in the “input” section:
clamp01((2+AngleOfAttack)/-14)
This will make the air breaks activate the higher your AoA is (it will start at 2 degrees and extend fully at 14 degrees). This means that even though you don’t have the drag points to somewhat realistically simulate drag induced energy loss, you can synthetically recreate it with the air breaks. If you add them to your plane around your CoL and have them open to the sides, it should make this plane handle a lot closer to the real thing.
@Bullozeee fair but I think it would be worth it to just get rid of the gear system and make it no clip into the fuselage especially since this is a modification of someone else’s build
@Samoa I honestly can’t seem to find something different about this than my other ones. All I know is I will be using your wheels to make my cars now 😂. I never post them so you’ll probably never get to see it but I really appreciate your build hahaha
@Zilozite literally just move the ailerons to the edges of the wings and they’ll work much better. If you need anymore help or have other questions, let me know :)
@32 I used to make manually guided missiles which were decently controllable but it was really hard to hit another plane. Was not too bad for hitting a ground target though. Only issue was that I’d have to hope my plane wouldn’t crash from my missile manoeuvres since they’d both be reacting to the same inputs 😂
Wow this is really neat! It drives really well. How’d you get it to not slide around at all? Whenever I try to make a car it always slides and drifts around a lot if I make a turn that’s anything but gentle
I love this thing! The elevator control surfaces could be bigger to have a trim that’s actually effective, especially at high altitudes. Other than that, this is fantastic. Very cool looking
Decent build. Maybe best to put the ailerons on the outboard side of the wings instead of the position of the flaps. Will give it better roll control when it’s further from the CoM
Nice stuff! Flies really well. Funny I was just reading about APKWS earlier today and apparently one was used in Ukraine to down a drone or cruise missile
I love that engine! This looks somewhat similar to a French plane a saw at an airshow. I can’t remember at all what it’s called but I have a picture of it somewhere
@SPAircraftOfficial I did not know it was designed based on the R4M! You learn something new everyday. Still would be nice to have them on here in A2A too
I’ve been experimenting for a long time on how to make a plane have both realistic acceleration while also having realistic energy bleeding characteristics. It’s pretty tough since in order to have realistic acceleration, you have to have an engine that’s not so powerful and remove lots of drag points. That becomes an issue, that can be seen with this build, as the plane will lose hardly any energy while pulling high AoA/G turns and even increase speed while at very low throttle. I had this issue on my planes too and tried to fix it first with air breaks that just work on pitch but that was quite annoying. I tried setting them to activate when above a certain G or to gradually increase as G increased but again didn’t work well. Then I set them to increase with AoA or activate after a certain AoA and this was much better but would often prevent the plane from reaching a realistically fast speed, especially when not in full burner. I tried to make an FT command that worked and with the help of a few peoples recommendations and help, I now have this command: clamp01((2.5+AngleOfAttack)/-25)
When put as the input for an air break, it will only engage when at 2.5 degrees angle of attack (edit it to what you want of course) and will become its max at 25 degrees (again edit it for the plane you’re using of course). I tried this air break with this plane and changed it to: clamp01((1.75+AngleOfAttack)/-13.5)
In my opinion, this makes the plane lose energy realistically enough to work with the number of drag points you have for this build. I put two air breaks on it which open sideways at the CoL and it seems to handle much more realistically. What do you think?
Honestly pretty cool alterations although I have a feeling the wings would have to be brought way back for how tail heavy it would be in real life, like with any rear engine mounted plane. Also correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t the R4M designed for air to air usage?
Very nice! decently realistic flight characteristics are great to see. Nice that pulling the stick all the way back and having too high an AoA can stall/depart the plane. Also I like the acceleration not being too fast. Nice work on this! Only tip I’d give is to to not have the flap work on trim as well. Apart from this not being a thing on any aircraft I can think of (except fly by wire types potentially), negative trim in this case will make the flap move unrealistically and give the plane weird flight characteristics. Wonderful job overall though!
Jeez what a monster! Nice build
+2@MemrWii nah not at all. I’m just a gun nerd so I had to say hahaha
+1From just the outline, I could tell it was supposed to be Italian

+3The smaller surface to surface missiles don’t seem to ignite. They just pop up and then drop back on the ship
Pretty cool build! I like it
actually playing around with it more I would recommend clamp01((1.5+AngleOfAttack)/-8)

Pretty nice! I like that it doesn’t pull insanely hard Gs
Have we not learnt from the mistakes of Kelly Johnson hahaha
Looks really good!
+1@Bullozeee sounds pretty cool!
@Bullozeee maybe time for ME-262 (modified), 2, the sequel
Would love to see the new updated version of this one!
+1I love sky on fire. Such a fun game
Lmao layered ERA
@Bullozeee fair but I think it would be worth it to just get rid of the gear system and make it no clip into the fuselage especially since this is a modification of someone else’s build

+1@C47skytrain but if that’s actually what happened to his account, that’s pretty sad
+1@C47skytrain lmao I’m 24 and live in my own apartment in a different country to my parents. I think I’m safe 🤪
My dad actually thinks this whole SimplePlanes thing is pretty cool. He likes aviation but isn’t as interested in it as I am.
+1@Zaineman thanks for the name! Was curious about it. It sounds similar to what I thought it was
now this was amazingly fun to drive! Not sure if you’re taking requests but it would be awesome to see the red bull car as well! Team Max all the way
Time to make my iPhone heat up 😎
So you gave it a stick?
Wait for lift shouldn’t the flaps move in the opposite direction when pulling back on the stick?
+1@Zilozite literally just move the ailerons to the edges of the wings and they’ll work much better. If you need anymore help or have other questions, let me know :)
Whoa this is pretty cool! Nice build :)

What actually happened to SPARK1645?
+1@32 wow that was a flashback. Can’t believe that was so many years go now.

+1I always find the proportions of the B-24 so goofy with how much longer the wingspan is than it’s length. Nice build!
+1I love this thing! The elevator control surfaces could be bigger to have a trim that’s actually effective, especially at high altitudes. Other than that, this is fantastic. Very cool looking
+1Yeahhhhh sure you made that plane that you can’t even download
Love it when an engine just shoots off at the press of a button
Decent build. Maybe best to put the ailerons on the outboard side of the wings instead of the position of the flaps. Will give it better roll control when it’s further from the CoM

+1Cool lore and nice build! I like it
It’s called the Morane-Saulnier MS.315 (sometimes I see it as MS.317)
+2I love that engine! This looks somewhat similar to a French plane a saw at an airshow. I can’t remember at all what it’s called but I have a picture of it somewhere
+1Is this the background music from that game afterburner?
@SPAircraftOfficial I did not know it was designed based on the R4M! You learn something new everyday. Still would be nice to have them on here in A2A too
+1Very nice! this jet reminds me of the BAC 1-11
We’ve all been there 👌🏼
Maybe I should try using detergentX in mine
+1My washing machine likes to go on walks too, especially when set to 1200 rpm
