FINALLY! I got the designer to work again. It looks steam was regenerating the files if I tried to delete them, so I restarted steam in offline mode, deleted all my planes, started simpleplanes, and the editor/designer works again. (backed up all my previous designs before deleting). Oh thank goodness.
Wow if this was a real plane, at altitude this could actually catch a Me-262 with full WEP. Me-262's top speed during WW2 was 559 mph while a P-51 mustang was 437 mph. So with WEP, this plane going at 540 mph (WEP on) is the fastest prop fighter during the '40s. ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀)
@TheOwlAce
I won't go on too much details because most info is still "classified" ;) but basically, it's gonna be a super sized spruce goose that can carry possibly up to 12 P-51 sized fighters. So far I haven't built it yet and still brainstorming how it will come out, but it's supposed to be a realistic flying aircraft carrier/airborne fortress, except it's not something radical like the helicarrier or the P-112 Aigiaon form AC6, but simply a very big, conventional airplane with an opening ramp at the rear to launch/recover fighters. It's gonna be interesting to say the least.
Interesting. I'm gonna be making a large flying aircraft carrier soon. It's not gonna be mega like the Banshee from Yukikaze or the P-112 Aigaion from Ace Combat 6, but it's literally gonna be a super-sized H-4 Hercules aka "Spruce Goose" that will be able to carry at least up to 12 P-51 sized fighters. Gonna be all conventional, nothing radical. It's LITERALLY a giant airplane. It's a 1950's design which I've just started my 1940's era designs so I still have a bit left till I get to the 50's era. But this is a pretty interesting way of doing a flying aircraft carrier.
Also, the P6 is already in development, and this time, it's going to be a fighter! Finally! Currently really early in development, but it's nimble and fast, will feature folding wings, again, a working tailhook, high detail, and a new feature, it will have working WEP! (War Emergency Power).
@LegnaK
Np, and it's an online "game" where you create a nation.
Example, here is my nation: https://www.nationstates.net/nation=pavelania
(Hence why PAC is Pavelanian Aircraft Company)
Dieswen sounds like a fictional country you made up.
@Mostly
Thanks! One thing I love about this tailhook, is that when retracted, it actually stays glued to the fuselage, which I didn't expect it to do that.
Also, seems like the tailhook doens't bend enough to allow the tailwheel to touch the ground and turn. To fix this, simply select the loose/floppy hinge at the middle of the tailhook, and set it's range to 60*.

Wow. I tried deleting the AircraftDesigns folder and at startup it just re-generates the whole folder....
In fact the game just generates a new editor.xml

If you look in the successor's page for this plane, I made a vastly improved Super Merlin just FYI.
Dude I can see you working for Lockheed Martin or Boeing in the future.
+1Epic. XB-70 was one amazing aircraft. Kudos to you!
IT'S THE FW-190's MINI-ME!!!
Refer flying planes as "driving" one more time! triggered Intensifies

Only minor engine tweaks, a pretty boring variant.

My Kraken Project will probably be a little bit bigger than this.

Pretty cool. Gotta hand it to the Germans at least they were very innovative.
Work on the XF-108 would later influence the A-5 Vigilante and obviously the XB-70 Valkyrie.
