Hi @Smoker, you mean that an improvement would be to give the cruise missiles 2x Boom50 warheads? That would be cool, but it would require an extensive revision of the weapons. I will look into it.
@Cy3brOdyssey Of course. No problem at all.
In order to get to the rotator (which should allow you to lift out the entire wing assembly) you just need to remove the large structural panel on top.
@mikoyanster the original one is a successor. The v2 is simply to stop it shooting itself down with its own guns. Really its up to you if you accept it or not.
@vonhubert Thanks. I just want to clarify; I didnt say you shouldn't. I just gave my reasons for not uploading mine. If you upload yours, I'll upload mine too? A contest, no less!
@vonhubert I thought about uploading mine, but I figured that a first flight in '53 would put this beyond the "first gen" jets mentioned in the challenge rules.
@NativeChief1492 Am preparing something stronk. Hand made by babushka. For export, so made with inferior Uzbeki steel, but I throw in free borscht to make deal, yes?
@SWAGDADDY7 Nope, Im in. Now I need to figure out how to go faster than 2300mph at 60,000ft without mods... Or if anyone has any spare engines laying around...?
Hypersonic at which altitude?
I really like the idea of the challenge, but stating "mods are allowed" without setting out any ground rules makes it a bit unbalanced, no? You could have unbreakable wings, zero weight, massively powerful engines and infinite fuel.
Thanks. Its mainly because I dont have any choice. My laptop is quite old and I dont really get the chance to open it up so often, between work, family, kids and so on. The screen on the iPhone 6 is a fair bit bigger than the 5 too. @ChiChiWerx
I wouldn't let it bother you. I don't let it bother me. My last effort (a B-2 Spirit replica with air drop cruise missile and working bomb bay, build completely on iOS) has currently 2 upvotes. I see this as two people who liked my model and appreciate it. Not as "Only 2 upvotes".
Why doesn't this bother me? I build for myself. I enjoy it and decide what I build next based upon on only what I want to build. I upload so that I can save my models for posterity (an iPhone is easily lost / stolen / smashed).
The validation of the community is not why I do what I do.
@vonhubert I build on iOS (iPhone 6, to be precise) so things like custom landing gear are rocket science to me. Anything above a part count of 300 is also pushing what my iPhone can handle too.
It was a part that I really wanted to get right on my Bison, but SimplePlanes on iOS was already crashing back to home screen left, right and centre.
@MechWARRIOR57 It was either lots of small strakes or it flew like a frisbee. The bomb bay was complete luck - I have no idea how the bombs clipped half way inside the wing without the collision detection finding out...
@ChiChiWerx Blood, sweat, tears and swearing. Lots of swearing.
I had originally wanted to make a more faithful replica, but when doing my research I was confronted with the fact that a BUFF can carry 20 of these things. 20. Thats two - zero. Six under each wing and 8 in the rotary bomb bay insert. Thats a lot of bang bang.
I have a far greater appreciation and respect for the B-52 as a weapons system now than I did before.
No wonder these machines are pushing 50 years old. What do you replace them with?!?
Thanks guys. I looked closely at the BAE Hawk, Dornier Alphajet and the Kawasaki T-4 for inspiration. I figured that they are very stable crates, so if I followed same dimensions my creation would have more or less the same handling characteristics. I think the stall characteristics are particularly good; I have tried and tried but it just wont spin.
Thanks guys. I have one small adjustment to recommend; add 400lbs dead weight to the nose of each missile. It makes them less likely to pitch up by themselves and therefore easier to control.
According to Wikipedia the length is around 99ft, so that is spot on. The wingspan is around 141ft, so youre only about 20ft too long, but this is only a small deviation. All in all this is very good.

Wow, Im amazed the Besra did so well. I was sure the Gaupe would do better. Awsome competition!
I like. It flew, bombed, landed, stopped. Quite stable, too. All in all very nice. @Joco80
As im sitting here now, this 52 has 52 upvotes...
+2@DownUnderWing Cheers mate. Youre not so bad yourself ;-)

@Franticmatty Thanks. It's sort of a little bit F-14, a little Bit Panavia Tornado, a little bit F-15...
OK - I have now also figured out how to make clean and tidy rotating stores points. Expect a fully tooled up version soon.
Bigger, better, more, and faster
@mikoyanster in the interestes of the competition, can you please consider the version 2? Link below. Thanks!
@Athaya Oh sweet! Thanks.
@Athaya I agree - not sure it is possible on iOS, though?
I might need to dust off my old Galaxy Tab...
@Athaya @RedstoneAeroAviation @Avro683Lancaster @destroyerP
Many thanks. I am keen to improve this design - any ideas for improvements?
I have noticed a few fatal errors in this model - an update is posted here;

@Picklemaster Nice. I like the front end. Feel free to borrow the wings from the C-2 if you want folding?
@ Picklemaster
Here you go!
This is really good. I have "fixed" the gun issue and can re upload, if you like? @Picklemaster
@Visify Da gomrade!
@DownUnderWing Thanks. I like your offering too.
@vonhubert Thanks. I just want to clarify; I didnt say you shouldn't. I just gave my reasons for not uploading mine. If you upload yours, I'll upload mine too? A contest, no less!
@Treadmill103 Thanks. Im working on a way to release all the bombs at once without using action groups. Should be an interesting test programme...
@vonhubert I thought about uploading mine, but I figured that a first flight in '53 would put this beyond the "first gen" jets mentioned in the challenge rules.
@NativeChief1492 Sorry! Upload glitch. I deleted one (looks like I deleted the one you upvoted *hint hint).
@NativeChief1492 Am preparing something stronk. Hand made by babushka. For export, so made with inferior Uzbeki steel, but I throw in free borscht to make deal, yes?
@NativeChief1492 I'm game.
@SWAGDADDY7 Cool beans. Thanks.

@Dimkal Thank you. Best of luck to you too. I like your T-9.
Yes. Soon.@FASTFLIGHT
Edit: I find it incredible that thesethings are almost twenty years old.

This is really, really good.
Very nice. I really like how you managed to make the four wheel bogey landing gear.
@MechWARRIOR57 Cool beans. Thanks.

Oh, and The Besra is a small Asian bird of prey. This is, in effect, a "baby Raptor"...
@SteadfastContracting Good question... B-1? Nope. B-2? Nope. Any more?
@ChiChiWerx Blood, sweat, tears and swearing. Lots of swearing.

@mikoyanster Many thanks, what would you propose?
@mikoyanster Tusen takk skal du ha!
@mikoyanster Domo arigato gosaimasu.
@DeezDucks Maybe the instructor is a computer / advanced autopilot?
Or a midget?
Or a Chihuahua?
Thanks. Did anyone get the BAC TSR-2 / SEPECAT Jaguar vibe with this one? They were my main influences, you see.
Thanks. I guess everyone can guess where Im from now, huh?@DownUnderWing

Laputa was (and still is) one of my favorite animated movies.
It has sky pirates, ferchristsakes!
A very well deserved upvote from me, for what it is worth.

Ok, guys - please let me have some feedback on the missile system. What can be improved for the next version?
