@Sgtk Do you have the Finetuner mod? If not, get it. It allows you to rotate anything on your plane to any angle you want, it can even rotate multiple things at the same time, super useful for complicated designs.
Your use of Stabilators on the tail is very impressive, not many people on here know how to use them in that way. You seem to have built most of the plane out of fuel boxes, did you know you can store fuel in wings and reshapable fuselage blocks? The plane has more than enough power, but it might fly a bit better if you stretch the trailing edges of the main wings backward a bit further. It would give you bigger wings with more lift, and it would pull the COL back away from your COM. Right now the two are dangerously close.
I have a couple of thoughts. First, a jet engine is a heavy thing and attempting to rotate that much mass (instead of just nozzles) probably has a lot to do with the spinning problem. Second, have you tried flying the plane with the engine stuck in "normal flight" position? How does it handle? Is the COL too close to the COM?
You should do what you love. If Spits are all that you lvoe, then that's all you should make. But if there's some other plane you love, I bet she's really sad you haven't made her yet.
@lllKenlll Well, I tried. I guess I'm going to have to do it myself one day... Anyway, I thought your skeleton thingy was neat. If you enjoy making unconventional stuff like that, then go for it. After all, building the thing is about making a plane that you love and sharing it with people.
It took me a lot (A @#&%ing LOT) of reading to figure out why seaplanes are so hard to fly level. It's because the center of thrust is so high up, it pulls the whole thing face-down, like someone pushing you by the back of your head. And it gets even worse if you suddenly gun the throttle at low speeds! The solution? A really, really powerful tail to counter all that pull.
What I do is I rotate the tail about 2 to 5 degrees (depending on the plane) so that the tail is constantly pulling the nose up. Or you could make the elevators trimmable (it's in the settings). It looks like @MaximusTheMinimus already beat me here, but hey, at least I typed out all this stuff that no one will read :)
I have been trying to get everyone and their brother to try to build the photo-recon version of the P-61, the F-15 Reporter. So far, no takers. She's a gorgeous plane, huge glass cockpit, over 75mph faster than the B model. You interested?
@DandruffCat @Mainblocks Thanks guys! I really appreciate you noticing! I felt like the perforated dive brakes are what really makes the Dauntless stand out from other planes from the early 40's so I had to put a lot of work into including them. It just didn't seem right not to. Hopefully all those extra parts won't mess things up for mobile users.
@ReischetzFokke They don't have Finetuner for IOS? That's rough. I made my Mig 25 without using mods and it took me forever, but even then I could get into the XML file and edit things. Well, I guess I should do the PBY next, maybe a Super-Cat, but that's a great big cockpit and I'm a little scared. Maybe I should talk to some of the boat guys on here, that fuselage looks complicated as hell.
@ReischetzFokke I'm still learning how to make good planes, this is only the 3rd one I've posted. I skipped adding Navy roundels on this one because it would've pushed the part count over 500, but I probably could have used less rotors in the cockpit. I can't believe no one has done a Sturmovik recently, that was the most important plane in the whole war! I looked at the PBY again and it's not very detailed, but it does fly well. I think maybe I should do one soon, I just hope I can do a good job. Maybe I should do two versions, one with less parts for mobile. I'll send a link to the older PBY in a minute.
@Alienbeef0421 I use both, and I wasn't sure which was his :) Overloader is great too, especially if you use a lot of moving parts like custom landing gear.
@Alienbeef0421 I do now! I used to have to do all the xml modding by hand, it used to take me all night just to get a few things rotated properly. Fine Tuner completely changed how I look at this game.
Holy cow, I was thinking about building one of these because they're amazing and I haven't seen one on here before, BUT HERE IT IS! And she's beautiful. So that frees me up to go find some other plane in need of attention. Awesome build, I love the paint job! I can't believe you build all this stuff on a touchscreen.
@Zerokiller3 I'm not sure. It takes me about a month to make a plane, by the time I'm done one I am very tired of working on it. So I try to choose planes that are different from each other, that way I don't go crazy. I've already done 2 American planes and a Russian jet and I was thinking about doing a flying boat or a 1950's jet next. Something from Japan or the U.K. But you have raised an excellent point: No one has made a detailed US torpedo bomber, and the Avenger did play a key role in the Pacific. I think I probably will make one eventually, but it will probably be a few months.
@NativeChief1492 I don't really know what to say. I based the proportions off of line art and blueprints, I even found text sources commenting on a 10 degree dihedral. When I rotate it 11 degrees back, it's straight with the horizon. I probably should have stuck with 10 degrees, as the tips should be even with the prop spinner and they are about a foot too high.
@NativeChief1492 I think the dihedral was about ~11 degrees, the pictures are slightly fish eyed. That said, I certainly made the wings in such a way that created WAY too much work for myself, if you pull them apart you'll see what I mean.
@ReischetzFokke I LOVE the Catalina, someone posted a really pretty one not too long ago. I want to improve my skills more before I make one of my own because she is my all time favorite plane. I was thinking I'd do and F105 Thunderchief or a Supermaribe S6B.
@EternalDarkness That means a lot coming from a skilled builder, thank you. Dropping bombs is really hard in this game, so I figured this plane could be a fun way to make them work. When I was testing the plane, I always had trouble knowing exactly when to start my dive, then I read about the window and it blew my mind, I had to include it.
@ReischetzFokke I don't know. With each of the 3 planes I've done I've tried to learn something new. This was my "working cockpit" plane. I must admit that I really enjoy making Douglas aircraft but I think I need to find a plane that hasn't gotten much attention lately, maybe a jet or a flying boat.
https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/HHJhgx/A-1-Skyraider This one isn't quite as detailed as what you wanted, but it is super mobile-friendly and he did an awesome job with it. I was going to make a Skyraider myself, but when I found this one I figured I should find other planes that hadn't been represented so well.
@SwagAircrafts Nah, the Devastator was HUGE! I believe it was the largest single engined aircraft of WW2. This is her little (and much more famous) sister, theSBD Dauntless in authentic 1942 camo. I am having a hell of a time finishing that one, but she's getting pretty close. If you really dig Douglas ground attack planes I've got 1950 version of their crowning glory, the Invader, on my profile. Gimme a few minutes and I'll dig up a pretty good Skyraider someone made a while ago.
Like.... This? https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/voyyP4/Sneak-Peek Not the SPAD, but another beautiful Douglas ground attacker. I still need to add the damn insignias, though. It's tough to get them to bend with the fusealage and not stand out.
The Voodoo and aircraft like it are part of what's known as the "Century Series." During the 1950's, jet engines became powerful enough to push aircraft past mach 2, and Cold War designers sacrificed many other considerations for almighty speed. Most aircraft of the time were very difficult to pilot and many were lost in accidents, mostly due to high landing speeds but also because of how little we knew about supersonic flight. For instance, that T-tail could cause the F-101 to catch an issue called "Pitch-Up" where the pilot completely loses pitch control and the aircraft pitches so hard it stalls out the engines and sometimes tears itself apart. It was a whole new frontier and not without risks. All in all, the Voodoo was good at what it did, if you like it check out the F-104 and F-105, the other two successful Century jets.
@Bluerobot11 YES! This plane is, in fact... this plane. Wait, what?
@Sgtk Do you have the Finetuner mod? If not, get it. It allows you to rotate anything on your plane to any angle you want, it can even rotate multiple things at the same time, super useful for complicated designs.
@TheMaroon47 I like the dog teeth on the wings, gives it a nasty look.

@ReischetzFokke https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/CJc7Yh/Consolidated-PBY-Catalina I know it's not that detailed, but I like this one.

@SimpleFlow I wonder what they'll add? Maybe he'll integrate some features from his mods.
@SimpleFlow The mods certainly make things easier. Didn't Hellfire make finetuner? They just hired him as an intern.
That's awesome, I think I use his mods! Good luck!

Sort of a Douglas/Lockheed hybrid, huh? I like it, the arrows are cool.
@Alex23 You dag gone right!

Puts on a trucker hat. Well shoot, throw some headers on this bad boy, chop off that muffler, you gonna be runnin elevens all day long, son!

@BogdanX Thanks for the tip, I will try to use that on my next build.
I really like how you did the air intake!
I can't believe how quickly you make such cool looking jets!

@Cedy117 Thanks
I've spent over 1,000 hours playing Fallout 4 and this thing looks PERFECT.
@MrSilverWolf Thanks man!
@JoddyFubuki788 @CRJ900Pilot Thank you very much, I hope you guys enjoy flying it.
@EternalDarkness Thank you! I was actually worried people would mistake it for a really terrible bombsight or something. :)
@Treadmill103 Thank you so much for noticing! I spent an unbelievable amount of time trying to figure out how to make them.
@ReischetzFokke @TheFreemaker Thanks guys, it feels so good to share it with you.
LOL, I haven't even made 3 planes yet since I joined this site! It takes me about 30 days to make one plane.
Nice one! Love these first gen jets.

@plane118 Be careful how many you use, they are incredibly destructive and they can cause a lot of lag if you use too many. Good luck!
THE JUGGERNAUT LIVES! Awesome tribute to my favorite fighter of all time, the one and only flying Cadillac.
