@planelover400 Great! I'll get to work researching photos and schematics. I'll probably have more questions later, but it will take me a few weeks before I have anything to actually test out. This is very exciting!
I have a post called "colored sparklers" that has wing guns that work as flares. The ROF should probably be tweaked for mobile use though, because they rip frame rates apart.
@Zandgard Nah man, thank you for making her. I spent many long hours in this tub back when I played Silent Hunter 2 and 3. The Type 9 could certainly bag more merchants in a single cruise, but the 7 was much better at sneaking past destroyers.
You can xml edit non-flexible structural wings to have control surfaces, I only mention this because you're a Windows user and it's super-easy. Great build, it's impressive how few parts you used while still getting all the shapes so right, very efficient.
@Planeengineer31625324 Funny you should mention that. There are many pieces of Soviet era aircraft equipment that run on alcohol, the radar on a Mig-21 for instance.
The only battleships afloat are museum pieces. With the advent of accurate, long range missiles, two things became irrelevant: ultra-heavy artillery and ultra-heavy armor. There is no point in sinking billions of dollars into needlessly heavy capital ships when a cruiser or submarine can accomplish the same task at a fraction of the cost and with less vulnerability to counterattack.
Arguably, battleships were actually made obsolete by the aircraft carrier (as demonstrated by the Swordfish torpedo-plane's role in the crippling of the Bismarck). But battlecruisers had already outlived their short chapter by that point, the HMS Hood's demise at the hands of Bismarck being a good example.
In my opinion, battleships ceased to be relevant after WW1 as anything other than a COLASSAL WASTE OF RESOURCES. Had Hitler invested the steel he squandered on capital ships into his submarine fleet, the second world war would have been much more costly for the allies. But hindsght is 20-20 and we are all better off that things played out as they did.
@planelover400 Hey, I slept on the idea and I'm really interested now. I've also got a small pile of questions for you. 1) Would you like the turrets to be fully, first-person aimable? Most people just make them VTOL or trim sliders, but I try to make them pitch/roll. It makes the controls more complicated, but its also MUCH easier to actually hit other planes. In other words, do you want usable turrets or just for show? 2) Do you feel like it would be better with a working cockpit, or should I save polygons by skipping it? 3) How many parts can mobile users handle? I want to give you guys something that's special, really detailed, but also runs good on a phone. 4) Would you be willing to help me test it out? I'm a PC user and I have no idea what it's like trying to fly my work on a touch screen. And, finally, (5) have you seen this B-29 that DAL posted? It's pretty good and SUPER mobile friendly. https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/CHGdiM/Boeing-B-29-Superfortress
I made this version a while back, it's under 500 parts, see if it works for you. If it doesn't, let me know how many parts I should bring it down to and I'll do it.
Rather than focussing on single seat prop-driven fighters, try to choose an example of a variety of sizes and configurations. A single or twin engine jet, a four-prop bomber, a twin engine seaplane, and so on. The P-38 and Focke Wulf 190 are pretty far apart in terms of design, maybe a good place to start.
As far as I'm concerned, the Double-Wasp was the baddest engine in World War 2. There's no comparison when it comes to the brutal combination of ruggedness and raw power. This baby right here is the meanest plane to ever carry one, Whistling Death. Awesome build. I love this Korean War night camo and red markings.
Hey wow, thanks for the shout out! Great work on 1.7 too! The new parts and the wind and everything opens up so many more opportunities for creation. Keep up the awesome work!
The boom 25's are more or less similar to a 250 pounder from the 40's. The boom 50s seem more like the standardized mark 80s that were developed right after the war.
I'm not sure if we have unusually good people in this game/site/community or simply more vigilant mods. I like to pretend it's a mix of both, either way, I find the results quite satisfying and hope they continue this way for a long time. Thank you.
Is 250 really the limit for when stuff gets saggy for phones?! I feel lime such a jerk now for using so many extra parts.
Very nice

@Zandgard If read the reviews first, honestly.
Do what @EpicPigster1 said.
@Wakescar That is some serious suspension to handle those landings.
Me: I'm too old for monster trucks. Also me: OMG WTF THIS THING IS RAAAAAD!

A gyro may help with the yaw instability, but I haven't used gyros much. This is a really sharp looking build!
You've got style.

That's one mighty fine boat.
Get back to us when you find the sea monster. :)

@Mostly what can I say, I'm old.
Do you even yaw, bro?
From this day forward, we shall know you as "Senpai."
I was gonna post a Star Wars joke here but I couldn't think of anything funny so I'll just say "Good job."
The level of detail is very impressive, almost intimidating.
@Awsomur Heh, sure thing, sorry to ramble.

@planelover400 Oh! Hmmmm. I can sure try, it'll take me a few weeks to complete it. I am a slow builder.
@F4f879 lol maybe
@jasonboren56 Yeah, xml is so tricky, but so rewarding when it comes together.

myself. https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/ueZsBt/Douglas-B-26B-Invader-MOBILE
@CRJ900Pilot Absolutely, this thing is great!
Good luck!
Awesome paintjob, 1:1 cockpit, you put some time into this, huh? That instrument panel looks familiar... :)
This is one design that I've never seen before!
Nice build. I really like the work you put into the nose, that cowling looks great with the guns peeking out and those two exhaust ports.
3- The I-16, people post Spits and 109s every single day, make a plane that will grab some attention!
@MonsterSlayer Go for it! Lemme know if you want help or anything.
@MonsterSlayer Which is your fave?

Build all of them. Consider it practice.

+1@RhysBrown Thank you for the spotlight
@Awsomur Cool, thanks
@InternationalAircraftCompany Ha, thanks man

@Awsomur Whoa, where'd you see that?
@Fishbowl1121 WHAT?!?!
@LiamW LOL Because I've only made 4 planes! Thanks for the spotlight.
@goboygo1 Exactly!
This is beautiful
That'll do, pig. That'll do.
