@Dima7274 I swear I set it the same as the default cleaver. :/ Those things have explosionForce value of 1.8, and that's what I put for the interceptors.
@Walvis I wanted to, but my computer crashed a couple times while building or flying this so I substituted XML modded Interceptors. I think they at least get the look across, so I'm fine with this. Just got a bit scared of having too many larger pieces on the build.
.
I could do a variant with proper AS-6 missiles and share as unlisted for ya if you'd like?
It's possible this was intended to compliment the XB-70 Valkyrie bomber. Both aircraft were to be powered by the same engines - the XB-70 had 6 of the YJ-93's, the XF-108 had 2. In theory this plane might have not only served as an interceptor but as an escort for the Valkyries. You can definitely tell the two planes have a similar layout, no doubt because North American Aviation were involved in designing both planes. The XF-108 never had a flying prototype; just a mockup as far as I remember.
.
I first learned about this plane from a series called Secret Superpower Aircraft in its episode on fighters. It definitely has a look to it, and who knows how effective it would have been in service. Always nice to see more builds of truly obscure airplanes.
Congrats to first and second place. redbear's kinda reminds me of the iL-62, so it's funny to see two Russian and one US jet as the winners lol
.
That third place guy seems like a total loser though. Bet he smells too. Screw him lol
@SyntheticL I did :)
.
@Lanc @ACEPILOT109 I don't tag, sorry. Also Lanc read what I wrote under the image cuz I already expressed interest in having auto turrets.
@asteroidbook345 Wait...there was paint in Alpha era?
.
Hardly any of my builds, especially early on, could go Mach 1 or above. So...not a huge loss. Besides so much else of this thing ain't 'in-spec' with reality so... X)
.
I kinda just decided to make it an F-16 while putting it together, but I'm glad the effort I did put in worked out.
.
Three? I swear there's only two engines...I thought I hid the second one pretty cleverly tbh.
.
I'll happily take 90%, I mean that's an A Grade in most places so I guess I got something right lol Will this be on the test tho? jkjk
@Ruskiwaffle1991 the base game and the expansions (vietnam, israel, etc.) Are...40 bucks each? That's by themselves. The DLC is usually less than 10 bucks depending.
The bundle of everything is 100 bucks if I recall. You can look on Thirdwire's website for everything
@Ruskiwaffle1991 Honestly? I'm on potato laptop without even a GPU and SF2 runs great. I'd recommend getting the money together for the complete bundle; has SF2 and all its expansion games and DLC. worth it. Also check out the website CombatAce for SF2 mods if ya get bored of the vanilla titles.
@Cyieed462 Iz all gud friend. :)
.
I feel the obligation to get more Ruso-Soviet (my term for russian/soviet) builds done on my profile after so many western planes
@Cyieed462 Dang. U s p e d
.
Maybe. It's on my list after doing my research on the Floggers. But it will happen when I'm in the mood to do it. Besides I have the next one or two builds planned out.
@asteroidbook345 Not yet. Still want them visible if I need to change anything. When the build is complete (and if I remember to do so) then they'll be better hidden yes.
@ReinMcDeer I'm not doing that nation's markings; I try to avoid controversy of any kind around here, and that incident is plenty tricky for me to be comfortable talking about except in a glancing mention.
@asteroidbook345 This is a WIP. Of course I'm gonna make custom landing gear later down the road. Will they be GOOD? I dunno you people should never expect consistency and amazing quality from me lol
@Inuyasha8215 Hi, replying late lol
.
Unfortunately the build just isn't well balanced and the flaps have far too much downward authority when deployed fully. Plus the engine and total drag points mean it's a dog to fly. When I have time I need to give a much needed flight model update to this thing. :/
@Mrfoxus Well shoot I dunno if I should feel honored to be a repeat customer lol
.
Yeah go ahead. Surprises me to hear that last bit though because there's plenty of pretty good A-4's imo
@ACOGF Hot key to enter blueprint mode is B if I recall.
.
Annoying but we just have to deal with the way Jundroo integrated the designer suite into the game
@Tomcatbetterthanhornet Well if ugly does the job better than so be it. I am firmly a believer of Function before Form; if it accomplishes or aids in doing a task, I don't care if it makes me visually gag.
@GuyFolk It's been done plenty of times
.
In seriousness it would use a similar funky tree statement, but take into account that the control surface is being actively used in motion is my guess. So it'd have to be something with the pitch input plus AoA whereas your canard only seems to respond to AoA

@RandomUser09 wut
Actually...the Tu-128 does exist technically.
.
Already looks promising. What're the red things?
@mLk The Number of the Beast is strong in me B)
+1Hey asteroid, would you be alright if I took the FT for the tail and dorsal turrets to use on my Tu-16 build? I'll be sure to credit if I do.
@SyntheticL I did :)

@Lanc @ACEPILOT109 I don't tag, sorry. Also Lanc read what I wrote under the image cuz I already expressed interest in having auto turrets.
Oh god the nostalgia is hitting me

@MRpingouin @WarHawk95 The power of physics and hydrodynamics, friends

If a boat of cardboard can float, so could a glass boat.
We did it
.
We've reached the peak of SimplePlanes building
@SyntheticL hm, will take a look
@Ruvien0Republic0Officer not drowning

rising from the depths
@Tookan lol
@Ruskiwaffle1991 Have fun with the game when you do get it. :)
@KobzeR I'd disagree, but thank you.
@JeffChandler as in a trainer? Eh probably not. It all depends on the blueprints I find.
.
Maybe a future build will be a two-seater/trainer

@SCP1471 @GoldenSidewinder Alright enough. Keep any fighting amongst yourselves; I don't want that in my posts.
@GoldenSidewinder Hey now, no need for that friend

Yeah no I'm terrified to download this onto my literal less-than-potato laptop. Sorry. :(
+1Su-27M or Su-37? Kewl :) Look forward to it
@Inuyasha8215 I no do tagging, friend. Am sorry
@asteroidbook345 Sure! Thank you. Naturally credits will be due on day of release :)
@asteroidbook345 ye.
.
Did you figure out the wing sweep FT, by chance? If not it's fine cuz I may spend extra time on this anyways
@asteroidbook345 @SyntheticL I'm trying a similar color pattern to my Su-27 rebuild I did a while back.
+2@GoldenSidewinder Hmm, maybe. I try not to do requests. I already have the next jet decided since I started it at the same time as this.
@Nerfaddict cringe lol
@asteroidbook345 Not yet. Still want them visible if I need to change anything. When the build is complete (and if I remember to do so) then they'll be better hidden yes.
@ReinMcDeer Thanks. You were part of the inspiration to build one when I tried out yours.

Sorry for being a little heated.
@asteroidbook345 Okie. Hopefully the notes I have here are detailed enough.
@asteroidbook345 I hate to be a bother, but would you be willing to try helping me out with the funky tree for the swing wings?
@ReinMcDeer I'm not doing that nation's markings; I try to avoid controversy of any kind around here, and that incident is plenty tricky for me to be comfortable talking about except in a glancing mention.
