Hang on I'm a bit confused here, you've built the wings with a fuselage leading edge, but you kept the bottom leading edge as a hard corner?

    @NightFury29 I was thinking of a J7W1 but probably a P-38J or P-38L.

  • North American P-51C Mustang 6.4 years ago

@darkhawk138 it's pretty spot on with the real one because of WNP78's designer suite mod, it lets you overlay blueprints and planforms.

  • North American P-51C Mustang 6.4 years ago

@NightFury29 the D variants quite overmade, and I wanted to make other stuff after this.

I'm not on the computer so I can't test fly it, but going from the orthographic views and the weight, it looks like the camera views are going to be all messed up. Next time, instead of using negative mass fuel tanks to bring down the weight. Set the mass of the fuselage blocks to less than 1 when you start, so anywhere between 0.25 to 0.75. When you "add section" that new part will also have the decreased mass, this way you'll have a lighter body and not have an orbit camera that orbits behind the aircraft.

@temporaryaccount small jet engine, max power is about 0.25 so you get more instant response and it uses less fuel.

  • Virgin Bf-109's quake at the sight of it [Teaser] 6.4 years ago

@Nerfenthusiast well your designs aren't as complex and you appear to be using a stock tail wheel.

  • Virgin Bf-109's quake at the sight of it [Teaser] 6.4 years ago

@Nerfenthusiast yeah I know that, it's a problem with the games physics on wheels. It doesn't like taildraggers.

  • Virgin Bf-109's quake at the sight of it [Teaser] 6.4 years ago

@ThePilotDude WNP78 suggested that it's because of how SP models wheel physics. So you can't really fix it but you can mitigate it's effects. I minimized it by adjusting the wheel friction and increasing the size of the vertical stabilizer.

  • Virgin Bf-109's quake at the sight of it [Teaser] 6.4 years ago

@Nerfenthusiast the thing is though, sometimes it's tricky. if you over correct, you'll have to abort the takeoff. I've since mostly fixed the problem.

  • Should they replace the Ticonderoga-Class Cruiser? 6.4 years ago

I think the U.S Navy should be more concerned with acquiring frigates first, the Ticonderoga seems adequate. compared to countries it's likely to face, any shortcomings seem to be supplemented by the Arleigh Burke's.

@Reuben201103 Ah rip that sucks, but if you do get the PC version or something, but for iOS this is good work.

  • BAC Tsr2 Sea Eagle 6.4 years ago

Good work on this, the shape is quite nice, and I like the work you put in around the bomb bay, but I think there is a number of things you could improve on, some are easy fixes for future builds but some might require some time.

Firstly, you can disable the base mesh on the rotators to make them over all cleaner. Another thing would be to set flaps to VTOL instead of trim and to work on the general shape of the wings, I think they could be cleaner so work on not having gaps between the control surfaces and wings.
Also there is a problem when rolling/ pitching where the plane suddenly jerks towards the direction of roll and it's quite irritating, try disabling collisions in the control surfaces and such. Flaps in itself don't seem to do anything at all, maybe try just having control surfaces without wings in them, and hide scaled down wings inside the body or wing roots that can act as flaps when placed on rotators?

Lastly, having your plane accelerating at 30+ G's would probably liquidize your organs, you don't need engines that powerful. the problem is that you have 14,000 drag points. try decreasing that to about 2000-3000, that way you can decrease the engine's power multiplier and increase it's max power to increase acceleration time and generally be much more realistic. Overall really good work, keep it up!

  • Virgin Bf-109's quake at the sight of it [Teaser] 6.4 years ago

@ThePilotDude To be honest, not really. I've never had this problem before 1.89 and so it's a new problem for me as well. It might be the CoM is too far away from the main landing gear but if I change that, I mess up the entire flight characteristics of the plane.
