I think the U.S Navy should be more concerned with acquiring frigates first, the Ticonderoga seems adequate. compared to countries it's likely to face, any shortcomings seem to be supplemented by the Arleigh Burke's.
It is not cheap making brand new cruisers and destroyers. The US doesn’t have that much money to be spending on useless new ships that are not needed yet.
@BlasTechIndustries they are working on that... I think we need to replace our current 5”/54 guns with advanced weapons systems with the 6” guns and not the rail gun.
A cruiser cannot be replaced by a destroyer they both are ment for 2 different types of warfare

This is a matter of maintaining said vessels. Ticonderoga is quite modern and does not need a replacement.
