@Johnnyynf that brings up a point i would like to make as that would be cool, however i for one do not want to cater to literally every kind of build with my mod. it would be pretty neat, but i decided very early not to; my main reason being i just do not have the mental bandwidth or time to make assets not only for airplanes, but for cars, trains, ships, helicopters, and everything else all at once. in the future for this mod i do intend to add a racetrack or two, heliports, and new terrain that's fun to do rock climbing on, but i think that might be the extent of anything i do that's not an airport of sorts, again for the reason i stated earlier in the comment
its not the amount of drag points that cause lag, rather the amount of parts that have to make those calculations. i think somewhere in this topic i heard it has to do with the fact it constantly has to calculate each parts location with their drag (and some other variables probably) and if that calculation is reduced down to, say 10 parts out of 600 it will improve performance noticeably
if you want to make a drag model properly the best way ive figured out of doing it is to only enable drag calculations on wing parts, and use an airbrake part controlled with ft to do the rest
i've always thought the best way to do it is have user made forks of sp with tons of different versions kinda like linux, the game is end of life so it makes sense but the release of the source code is entirely up to the devs (and we shouldnt force them to)
@Zaineman @nordoverman the vibration, or buffet is intentional (control base that only shakes the camera) as the real aircraft has a similar effect, caused by the way low pressure air travels over the top of the fuselage and interacts with the vertical tails. very few videos exist online of this but the vertical stabs flutter as a result of the vortices, something I will model in the full detail version later. I am considering toning the vibration down as it does make reading my silly little numbers pretty hard (and is jarring to say the least) when maneuvering like that
#question does the switch part with the pivot style have an xml attribute to stop the animation/rotation of the part? the whole purpose of these types of switches is to select more than two options, and there is a way to make it do that with a little bit of ft (i could work around the rotation but i just want to know if this is a thing. thanks)
@LoneSpaceGaming in a dogfight, with sufficient speed a delta (like the mirage) has only one good turn, the rest is either good luck or the one good turn is used correctly and you win, "anything could beat this in a dogfight" like skill issue lmao
I do have em charts available for this type and I looked at them earlier to see if you were right, but the sustained turn rate and energy loss seemed to match somewhat closely to the chart so like idk dude like if you say anything can beat the mirage 3 in a dogfight that mostly means anything could beat you in a mirage 3
