You mean an improvement of MY banshee. And all you did was add rear landing gear and some bombs... I've already got one with retractable gear and its armed to the
Teeth :/
@Authros Yeah, getting around the wheelie issue is a little tough. If I want to go full throttle, I usually put the VTOL slider up slightly before take-off, then pull it back down once I'm rolling at a good clip.
I'll see if I can tweak it some more to get it more naturally stable on run-up.
Oh! And as to what sort of aircraft the Ekranoplans were: They're a class of aircraft known as WiG or Wing in Ground effect aircraft. They don't "fly" in the traditional sense. Rather, they're designed to take advantage of the high pressure zone that builds under a plane's wing, between the wing and the ground on take-off, allowing the craft to essentially float on the high pressure cushion of air. The Korabl Maket (Kaspian Monster) Had a maximum altitude of 10 meters, or about 31 feet, and could clear ocean swells of aroung 10 feet with no problem. I have a model of the Korabl Maket in my gallery. You should check it out :D
Hey, I hope you don't mind. I downloaded your plane and improved it so it's more like the original Ekranoplan. I didn't post it as a successor because I was afraid it would link back to the Cold War Challenge, and I don't want it showing up as an entry. If you'd like to upload a copy of this aircraft that's not a successor to the CWC, I'd be happy to reupload mine as a successor so you can get some points from it! Anyway, check out my updated version and tell me what you think: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/p7uQMj/Ekranoplan-2
Once you've finished judging this competition, you should do a similar one, but with the extra criteria that the plane must be able to land on one of the two aircraft carriers, as well as being able to achieve super-sonic speeds.
@ElijtheGeat Yeah, it's pretty complex. I can't run anything half this big on my Galaxy S4 either. If you'd like I can try making more phone-friendly models.
Aesthetically this is a really cool plane. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the dependence on external fuel, and the weird control scheme you have set up for it. I'm pretty sure the original couldn't do back flips, and while this game isn't necessarily intended to be a realistic simulator, I prefer replica planes to fly more like their real-life counterparts. But I was able to achieve this just by locking the VTOL nozzles on the sides of the nacelles, and shortening the elevators just a tad. After that, she flew like a dream :D
Summary- Overall well designed, just needed control tweaks.
Man! Is there a tutorial somewhere on how to hack parts like this? If not, you should really consider making one. Trying to get Simpleplanes to do what I want is a pain!
This is one of those things that's dorky and fun and at the same time totally genius. I never would have guesses that this would work with this game. Good job!
VTOL is tough, but that seems to be par for the course for VTOL models. Flight characteristics are a little sensitive, but once I got used to it, I found it a blast to fly. Flying through the canyon in this baby at 450mph is a hoot. The build quality is exceptional, and about as close as you could probably get to the real thing I think. Great job!
Holy cow. Just seven hours and I've got tons of downloads, great ratings, and 5 stars from the developer! Thanks for all the support and downloads! I'm happy everyone's enjoying my plane :L
The flight characteristics are a bit funky, but for concept, a solid 4 stars. I suggest limiting the flight yolk's roll to less than 90 degrees, and maybe slow the responsiveness down just a hair.
Great idea overall, but needs improvement.
This is an incredible build. Look and flies very well. Just wish it would take-off well.
How did you get the parts to fit so well, and at such odd angles. Are you a wizard?

Very well replicated. Good job!
Good job, but... does it fly?
@JacobHardy64 Haha! Those jokes never get old.
@Mr0Muncher Yeah, lol. Flies like boat half it's size.

Very good detail on this one. Flies pretty damn good too. Definitely got some interesting stuff going on with the control surfaces, and I like it.
Pretty cool. Would make a good turret for a missile carrier.
@Allstarship Thanks! Glad you like it.

@WalrusAircraft Hey! Another Texan! No wonder you kick so much ass XD BTW, huge thank you for taking this request and making this prop!
This is awesome! I'm definitely putting this prop to good use!
Pretty spiffy!
@THEaviator Sure. I'll give it a shot.
Would it be possible for you to make a set of contra-rotating props? Some that are nice and close together for proper effect?
@ElijtheGeat Yeah, it's pretty complex. I can't run anything half this big on my Galaxy S4 either. If you'd like I can try making more phone-friendly models.
@lucawolf Thanks!
Little trouble taking off, but over-all a very cool, very well-handling build.
Really awesome plane! I don't know why, but for some reason it likes to roll to the right.
Still a little sensitive on the elevator, but overall a marked improvement. 5 stars :D
I believe I shall join this :D Got an idea for the perfect cold-war plane.

@WalrusAircraft Thanks! It's good to hear my plane isn't a one flight wonder. :P
Very well done. Works a heck of a lot better than I expected it to. I had to try pretty hard to get it to wipe out.
@WalrusAircraft that would be great!

Looks great, flies well, and has some pretty sweet functions! Great plane!
@Ctracerx2 I'm assuming he maybe meant the props, which were designed by WalrusAircraft, but I credited him in the description, twice.

@MARSOCVIKTOR what did I copy?
Thanks for these props! I used them in my Seaduck model, and they worked great!
Jeez dude. You're like, some kind of wizard!
The Skipper now comes in an amphibious version! https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/08yKfi/Skipper-amphibian
Awesome props! I'm using them in my next plane. So far they look and work fantastically!
