@LotusEngineering, true, it has supercruise ability but it also has afterburners. Supercruise puts the jet just over Mach (in fact a clean F-16 with min fuel also "supercruises") without afterburners, but afterburners still push the jet out to its top speed and the thrust augmentation is still essential to pushing it around turns when it's dog fighting.
Actually, the F-22 Raptor does not have an afterburner. It was one of the first fighter jets to demonstrate a unique ability, called supercruise. This means a plane can fly over the speed of sound without the use of an afterburner. You might want to change 'afterburner' in the description, to 'supercruise activation' or something.
