"Super Hornet"
I've already been stung by a bee, I don't need a hornet sting too, especially not a SUPER hornet!
Thankfully though,
this plane is not an insect. This is my new and improved F/A-18F Super Hornet! Yes, new and improved. I made one over a year ago, but if we're being honest, it wasn't perfect... its looks were a bit off, and its flight performance was straight up miserable, wobbling after every pitch (a trait seen on quite a few of my older aircraft, actually).
However, using the knowledge I've acquired over that and this year, I successfully built a new Super Hornet from the ground up. It looks better, flies better, is overall more realistic/accurate, and all done in less parts than the original!
But Wait!
Before I dive into exactly what improvements were made, credits where they are due:
LunarEclipseSP!
Thanks to her request that I revamp my original Super Hornet, we can now all enjoy this new-and-improved Super Hornet!
That said, let's see exactly what this Super Hornet has going for it:
-The main problem I had with my original FA-18F was flight stability, or a lack thereof. That is mostly if not completely fixed in this one. Overall realism has also been improved, although I feel it's still a tad bit fast even after nerfing the engines from the prototype variant (which can be traced in the Auto-Credit).
-A quick look at the two side by side, and it's obvious this one is more accurate to the real Super Hornet aesthetically (e.g. cockpit, size, small details). This also includes the livery, as the PEA FA-18F's livery resembles that of a pre-Super Hornet, whilst the PEA-G FA-18F has a proper Super Hornet livery.
-The original Super Hornet's outer wings were made from fuselage pieces instead of wing pieces, which allowed it to have folding wings while retaining the 7-or-less-wing count needed for PEAs. With some effort, I was able to give this Super Hornet folding wings while still making the entire wing out of wing parts, and keeping the wing-count at 7.
-Both the old and new FA-18 have one thing in common: they were hard to make (particularly the wing and inlets). This FA-18F actually might be the most difficult PEA I've ever made between both PEA and PEA-G. Was it worth it though? Absolutely.
-I don't remember where or if the original one had an airbrake. This one does have airbrakes in a position where I do believe they are supposed to go.
-The gun has been moved from the side of the aircraft like most fighter jets to the nose like the real FA-18.
Fun Fact:
I built and posted this PEA-G on request. That we already know, but the fun fact is that this means that despite being posted before them, it is actually newer than a lot of the PEAs that will be posted after it, with the last of those (PEA-Gs built before the Super Hornet) being the F-104A.
PEA Lore:
The OG FA-18F didn't have much place in the PEAverse/Combined SimpleVerse, mostly fading away... not this one though!
This FA-18F is, as I've said, a proper Super Hornet, being the backbone of SimpleAmerica's™ Navy, as well as serving with the Monarchii and Co. as well. These Super Hornets look to further emphasize their worth in The Scourge War too, with naval jets like the FA-18 going to be common aggressors against Scourge Jets due to their nature of flying from island to island rather than within a location (so essentially, international vs transcontinental).
