Phoenix Industries Project 8117

14.0k Griffon1  3.7 years ago

At last, the long awaited Project 8117!
Project 8117 was a project developed by Phoenix Industries to replace it's older, struggling planes. Given the nature of the Intruder War, the aircraft was intended to attempt to counteract the effects of the Intruder Controllers, thus giving this plane increased resistance to this effect.

Project 8117 also incorporates the Free Will Artificial Intelligence program to assist the pilot in many ways a co-pilot would. The smooth, wedge-like shape provides limited stealth, and the use of advanced aerodynamics technologies allow this plane to achieve extreme maneuverability.

However, this craft is only slightly supersonic, lacking the speed many planes take for granted.

Project 8117 is armed with a pair of newly greenlit Accilian laser cannons, which pack heavy punch on fleets and ground targets, but their slow rate of fire makes them inefficient in air-to-Air combat. If the weapon does hit, though, it would be devastating to any plane it touches.

For AA Combat, it is armed with 14 MPM-001 multi-purpose missiles, set on the AA setting.

CONTROLS:
AG5: nosewheel steering
VTOL+AG5: Open cockpit
AG6:parachute
AG7+VTOL: wing folding
AG8: hypermanuverability

The test run of Project 8117 is to be shipped without AAF markings to ensure confidentiality.

This is my most prized creation! I hope you all like it!

@EchoWhiskey11 I was thinking about adding the AG5 activator for the canopy, but since it is also bound to the nosewheel turning, I wanted to control the cockpit semi-independantly so I can have the ability to taxi with the cockpit closed. As to why I didn't use AG1-4? I actually don't know.
As for the folding wings... I really think I should have bound it to the ag7 input.
The AG8 was a measure to easily evade missiles in the rare event we run out of countermeasures... Sulejmani style. (Ace Combat Joint Assault), and to evade trolls in MP. I did AG8 specifically because spawn camping is fairly common among MP trolls, and it's activation by default is good for that sort of thing. This plane was intended to be flown without the hypermaneuverability active.
As for the cheat sheet, I consult that regularly, and now use FT regularly. Since this build was built before I learned of FT's existance, there is a lack of that.
An example of my current FT skill level could be seen in my Lego set 70003 build.

@Griffon1Crosswind Same could be done with those folding wings. No criticism here, your build is good, now you can use a little XML magic to get to gold in no time.

@Griffon1Crosswind It's a little crazy in AG8, but once go into normal flight, it handles better than most tail less designs I've seen. On your next build, try these commands for something like that cockpit so you don't need to use the VTOL slider.

    In Overload:
    Activation Group: "5"
    Input: "Activate5"

No one ever told me that, but @EternalDarkness made a handy cheat sheet on XML. It can be a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, you can build some unique aircraft.

@EchoWhiskey11 not quite VTOL, just rediculously STOL

Let's see here, VTOL low observable design. I may be a little biased, but that's a win in my books.
