Sikorsky S-72 X-Wing

Big thanks to Spectre2520 for fixing the flight model!

Here she is! The Sikorsky S-72 X-Wing! I've been working on this one for a while now, and I'm pretty sure that nobody has ever made one of these on SimplePlanes before, so I decided, "Why not be the first?"

To be honest though, this aircraft is relatively unheard of, so I don't blame you if you've never even known this was a thing before. (I didn't know it existed either, I thought it was just a model when I first saw a picture of it!)

Here's some pictures:

Controls: AG-1 to activate the main rotor, throttle to use it, (obviously) and VTOL to control the pitch of the rotor blades. AG-2 and throttle for Plane Mode, deactivate AG-1 too if you're in Plane Mode. Once in Plane Mode, the aircraft has "normal" airplane controls, so it's pretty easy to fly.

For ease of use, take off with Helicopter Mode, and land with Plane Mode. For some reason, the main rotor breaks off if you turn it on while the aircraft is going 300+mph, not like that's bad or anything, when you can just go into Plane Mode, and fly like that, (In fact, there's actually a version of the S-72 that doesn't even have the rotor, and just the jet engines!) but it's kinda better if the rotor stays on, just so it looks better.

Note: The main rotor may sometimes break off if you take off to vigorously, but this is rare. The yaw controls aren't exactly the best in the world, so you can't really turn very efficiently. You can turn, but only at speeds lower than 50mph.

Anyway, that's all I have to say, so yeah, umm... yeah.

Have Fun!

    @AerialFighterSnakes I'm actually pretty bad with helicopters, I'm not very good at making them yaw, for some reason. As you'll notice while in helicopter mode when flying this, it's yaw is terrible. But yeah, I may look into making the Bell-407, now that you mention it. Also, if you like this so much, why not upvote it? :)

    @AerialFighterSnakes yep, it's definitely supposed be able to fly with a stopped rotor. In fact, NASA actually made a prototype version without the main rotor, and just the back rotor and jet engines. To answer your problem about the rotor snapping off, idk why, but I think if you're going too fast, the sheer force of the aircraft moving is enough to break the rotor off. Try turning off the rotor mid-flight, and then turn on the jet engines after turning off the rotor. That seems to work for me.

    @AerialFighterSnakes Lmfao...
    what physics setting are you using? I used high physics, and it seemed to work fine. Does it break off frequently, or only once or twice every so often? I did say in the description that it can break off, so that's probably what's happening.

    @AerialFighterSnakes out of all the first impressions you could've given me, this is the weirdest thing I could've ever imagined. Either that, or you're a normal person that likes to comment weird non-understandable things, which ironically, would make you a weird person. (Which is fine, since everyone has their own oddities, nobody's normal.) Well, I'm glad that you enjoy this though. Have fun flying it!

    @Jerba sure, you can upload a plane version of this! The plane version is literally the exact same thing, just without the main rotor, and the blue coloration is replaced with red. Also, what do you mean by it flies like butter?

    Can I post a plane version of this? (Please tell me if it's accurate, all I did was remove things without looking at the plane version once)@AWESOMENESS360
