Curtiss XF15C-1
FIXED
First flown in May of 1945, the Curtiss XF15C model was built once, and the plane crashed because of the low wing, killing the pilot in the crash. Later, two more planes were ordered in the XF15C-1 "Stingray" variant, which had the high "T" tail. This model proved successful, but never entered mass production. This plane was originally intended for Naval superiority, but by the time the plane could have been put into mass production, other jet-based fighters were built.
This plane was better than the identical Ryan FR Fireball, but it never left the Experimental phase of construction. Equipped with a radial 2,100 hp engine, and a 2,000 lpf jet engine on the rear.
This plane had the capability of 469 mph at 28,000 feet (almost 60 mph faster than the Fireball), and it was equipped with 4 20mm autocannons. It also had the capability to hold two hardpoints for external fuel tanks or two 1000 pound bombs.
Only three were ever produced, with one being destroyed in the crash, one being salvaged, and one is on display in North Carolina at a museum.
This is probably my best build yet! Sorry it has no cockpit, but I am pretty proud of this. The only issue I see it having in the challenge is it having too fast of deceleration on the arresting hook. I forgot to change that before posting, but yeah. I really like it, and it is the second one on this site!
Mine is a tad bigger and heavier than the real one, but it also is very realistic (I will put the cool pictures and blueprints I used at the bottom of the description). The only performance issue is that because it is slow (260 mph at sea level) it has weird maneuverability, but once you get the hang of it, it flies fine. Also, the rear suspension is 10,000% strength so as to make carrier landings easy.
Another inaccuracy I just caught: I think the propeller is about a foot too small in diameter. Either way, still looks cool in my opinion. All feedback is appreciated!
Controls:
- AG1 = Fold Wings
- AG2 = Arresting Hook
- VTOL = Steering on front gear (up is right and down is left)
- Trim = Trim (I suggest putting this down halfway when in level flight so the plane doesn't pitch down. The jet is at an angle and applies force accordingly)
Weapons:
- 4 20mm autocannons (I put a yellow tracer on the cannon shells. Pretty neat, in my opinion)
Side Notes:
- I'm sorry, but I'm really proud of this. it may not be the best, but for me, it is better than most anything I have ever made quality-wise for a replica. I truly hope y'all enjoy.
- The landing gear are all at different speeds, so it looks really cool to watch them close/open.

THE PLANE IS MUCH MORE MANEUVERABLE AND STABLE WITH SEMI-SYMMETRIC FRONT AEROFOILS. THE FIXED VERSION IS POSTED ABOVE
Crap and folding wings I need to do......
@LieutenantSOT lol yea, I still hot LandingGear to do on yours lol.
@PapaKernels I made the landing gear WAAY too long
@PapaKernels lol
.
This, besides the one that was a collab with Bogdan, I believe, is the only one on this site
May or may not have looked up this aircraft and found your build lol.
Thanks! @tntwiley
Thanks! @ACEPILOT109
Thanks! @WSI
Thanks! @SemedianIndustries @DEN12345 @tucan
@K2K and thanks! Yeah, I just think propjets are unique
@K2K sure!
Can you link me an unlisted (for the challenge) with some hardpoints? At least two
Nice! I noticed that you like propjets :)
yupsy! @LieutenantSOT
Thanks! @MIAW26PERSIAN
@LieutenantSOT no problem lol
@tsampoy Thanks! That was fast
Very interesting plane
@TriStar what do you think? (I'm working on the description right now, will be done in a little bit)
