B-47 STRATOJET - S.A.C. CHALLENGE

113k TMach5  2.8 years ago

B-47 STRATOJET

The Boeing B-47 Stratojet is a retired American long-range, six-engined, turbojet-powered strategic bomber designed to fly at high subsonic speed and at high altitude to avoid enemy interceptor aircraft. The primary mission of the B-47 was as a nuclear bomber capable of striking targets within the Soviet Union.

During 1951, the B-47 entered operational service with the United States Air Force's Strategic Air Command (SAC), becoming a mainstay of its bomber strength by the late 1950s. Over 2,000 were manufactured to meet the Air Force's demands, driven by the tensions of the Cold War. The B-47 was in service as a strategic bomber until 1965, at which point it had largely been supplanted by more capable aircraft, such as the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress.

@LieutenantSOT I'm not sure. the decision to make a single seat cockpit was to keep it as mobile friendly as possible.

    BONUS POINTS:
    .
    +5 x 7 = +35 points for decals
    .
    +30 for it's AMAZING looks
    .
+20 for moving parts (Bomb bay is the part that this counts for, and the ejection)
    .
    +40 for interior
    .
Before I say the total, I love the landing gear and the way you did it, but the gear are the standard gear that are scaled to fit the airframe. As cool as this reuse is, I'm sorry but I can't count it
    .
    TOTAL WITH BONUS: 219/120
Good luck, m8! You're the first valid entry. The above score is the final score that will be used, and you aren't going to be able to participate in the final "tournament" because this is a replica and not fictional. Don't worry, though, I will make a special thing for the replicas if more join. If not, I will get you a reward :)

    Okay, here is your grade:
    .
Armor: 10/20 | The reason I put this low of a grade is because the plane destroys itself no matter what. I flew realistically to 30,000 feet, and dropped the bomb and it still destroyed itself. Even then, the plane was good against the ship's guns, and the armor is pretty good
    .
Size: (I don't know why I put this lol, considering no small planes were on the SAC, and the fictional ones will hopefully be large) 40/40 | This is a great replica, and I love it. I will go into what I don't like here in a minute
    .
Capacity: 30/30 | carries what it carries in real life. Tip of the hat to ya
    .
Maneuverability: 5/20 | the plane indeed handles smoothly, but it's... unrealistically smooth. I hate to give low points to such a great build, but this was the bad factor. A bomber should not be able to accelerate when in a 90 degree vertical climb, or pull 9g maneuvers like a thrust vectoring jet. This was the only down side to this plane
    .
Personal Preference: 9/10 | If it weren't for the unrealistic maneuverability, this is an awesome plane. I love all the details, the moving parts are great, and the plane DEFINITELY is well done. Good job m8
    .
    TOTAL W/O BONUS: 94/120

Also, out of curiosity, was there a variant of the B-47 that had a single seat? From everything I've found in the past, it is a two-seater. I just want to check
    .
The B-47 is a super cool plane though and I'm really glad someone entered it :)

To escape the nuke, cruise at 20,000 feet and Turn 90° once it is dropped. And most of the pod count is due to all the lettering and decals

It's a lot larger than it look! As in part count. Looks great though, flies surprisingly fast and maneuverable too. Can barely escape the nuke lol

    Absolutely amazing!
Because this was used on the SAC, I will allow it
    .
I cannot do the "ropeplay" grading, but I will test this plane out in a little bit and get your grade back
