@Shipwright visit one of my more recent ships, and find a small red cylinder part (.25x.25x.5) at the waterline, nudged into the hull. It's a fuselage piece with xml edited buoyancy. Install a couple of them on your ship, in the similar fashion. Also, make sure that center of mass is as low as possible.
