(FICTIONAL) lore
The J-5 “Job Application” is a West German modified J-5 “NATO: Fresco” Of the Chinese air force. It was captured after the J-5 had an emergency landing in West Germany.
By the time it happened, West Germany borrowed 2 T-72M1s from East Germany, One of the T-72M1’s guns were attached onto a modified frame to replace the existing 37mm cannon on the regular J-5. For rapid firing, a 2.0 second autoloader was fitted into the frame aswell.
The project was inscripted as the “Job Application”, However instead of text, a blurry application form was painted onto the side of the aircraft.
When flying, The aircraft would face a slight increase of compressor stalls as the bulge for the gun and autoloader was protruding through the front intake. The gun also added a significant amount of weight and drag.
This J-5 saw combat action twice as a ground attack aircraft, before being seen as obsolete compared to the Tornado and Alpha jet.
Conclusion: Don’t use the gun of a T-72 on a J-5.
