Welcome back to the SimplePlanes Weekly. We’ve got some very interesting builds to look at, but first let’s jump right into the news.

SimplePlanes News:

• MOPCKOEDNISHE has uploaded the Variable Wing mod. This is pretty much exactly what you’d expect. It adds a new block that first off looks fantastic and can also simulate realistic airfoils. It does not replace the wing, rather it goes over it to easily create a better look for the plain old wing part that we’ve had forever and ever.
• Aeromen has reached 25,000 points and subsequently earned platinum rank. He has only been on the site for half a year, so his accomplishment is very impressive. A huge starnoc to Aeromen.
• Only 9 days left in the NATF (Jundroo Navy) Challenge!

Teaser of the Week:

Lavi is building a really amazing looking “Mitsubishi F-15J.” The livery is astoundingly beautiful, so we’ll see if the flight performance can be equally as impressive.

I’m not really sure where to start with this plane. The overall shape is not very pleasing. It’s just too short. The decals on the wings are good, and the color scheme is ok. For a “heavy fighter”, this still has way to many air-to-ground weapons. A fighter is meant for air-to-air. A heavy fighter may have a few ground weapons, but this is more of a multi role plane than a fighter. It also goes 1,500MPH, so it’s also part interceptor. This plane is really unsure of what it is.

The maneuvering is below average, but the weapons work well enough. Overall, this plane is just average. It has too many weapons for a fighter, is too fast for a bomber, and is maneuverable enough to be an interceptor. If it had focused on just one of those things it could’ve been a better plane.

La tour Eiffel, by Scharnhorst:

Wow. Just, wow. The amount of detail and beauty in this thing is amazing. It’s life size and incredibly accurate when it comes to the shape and size of the overall structure. Has a lot of potential uses in multiplayer as well (Eiffel Tower on the USS Beast?)
Really great work.

Someone also put a link to this picture in the box, so I figured I’ll review it.

The squirrel has a very nice stance and color. His accessories also highlight his excellent shape. I do think he could’ve gone for a cigar in his other hand. Something to think about for the next one.

Why did you start the SPW?
It was actually a joke to begin with. RP had started really taking off and people were all the time getting into fights and starting crazy drama. I thought it’d be funny to write a forum post like DramaAlert or something like that.

What are the requirements to become a Moderator?
Just be a good, rule-abiding player. Having high rank helps. I think a lot of the time the devs will reach out to you, but you can email them to ask.

Do you agree there should be SimplePlanes merch?
Heck yeah! And if they want to do SPW themed merch, I’ll only take 95% of the profits.

What is your favorite game
Minecraft, followed by MX vs ATV Untamed and Forza Horizon 3. SimplePlanes is 4th.

Why aren't you making more planes?
Because I suck! I’m also very busy in real life. I’m procrastinating important things right now just to write the SPW. You’re welcome.
