Built My First Plane In Real Life!

120k ACEPILOT109  5.6 years ago

Built this plane in real life, I might make a template for it. It flys pretty good for only a 30 minuet build time and only 3 days of development of better versions. (Also has a semi symmetrical airfoil Reinforced with a straw) and I used a bigger straw for the main airframe.

    I would love to but I don’t have a Facebook account @Alienbeef0421

Eh, it flys halve the time and dives into the ground halve the time @Zyvx

    On a serious note tho

    1. You can use cardboard from a file folder for the wings

    2. On planes this light airfoils are inefficient. A single layer of cardboard that's curved (take the Wright, for example) works better.

    3. Curving the wings is darn easy. It doesn't need to be symmetric.

Cool! Maybe start adding a dihedral or swept wings?

I’m not sure how good the airfoil is, but ik it’s not good. I managed to get it to work but it’s kinda broken on the edges @Quip

Thank you! I have no idea how to do any of the electronic stuff on rc planes, and I do watch Flite Tests videos tomlean about RC planes. They have a beginners series I’m watching right now @LiamW

Hey Ace, love your little plane. How did your straw airfoil work out? also you should show a picture of the wing profile

@SaturnV ouch. I'm still flying my first planes because they're made of EPP. They've lasted over 3 years and have been torn in half a few times but they've glued together perfectly with no warping at all. My friend bought an expensive EPO plane that was completely destroyed within a week because the foam crushed and wouldn't return to its original form.

@LiamW Yes Liam is correct with those points, I learned it the hard way when I came into RC and I think I spent 2000 dollars on that hobby cause of the simple mistakes.
