I think the devs based Krakabloa off of Wthulu island in Wii Sports, because it has a huge volcano in the center, a bit like Wthulu.

It also had one of the biggest eruptions ever. It wasn't #1 though. Mount Tambora was the strongest eruption, bringing Winter into the Summer, or basically the year without Summer.

Krakobloa is a real island nation in Oceania. I think Wright Isles are real too, but the others aren't.
