Hello. i have 3 ideas that would improve the quality of this website.
1. Organized reply sections
There will be a new reply section for every comment. Instead of just mentioning the user, a new "Replies" tab will appear under the comment with every reply. when a user replies to a reply, they will just mention the guy like normal. It would be something like this:
(sorry for the blurry text, the transform tool was a bit messed up)
2. "Gallery" and "Meme" tag for forums
The Gallery tag is to be used when the user is gonna make a list of every build he made, NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE SCREENSHOTS TAG! The Meme tag is when the user wants to share a meme about the game.
3. Ability to edit the thumbnail of a build
Now don't get me wrong, we ALL used the wrong photo for a build at some point, or maybe we just don't know how to make a thumbnail
There could be a new option on the dropdown menu on builds called "Choose Thumbail". This will open a tab where you can choose an image from your device to be the thumbnail. Once you select your image, the site will show a preview of the image and ask to confirm, just in case you choose the wrong photo. You won't be allowed to edit it more than two times due to clickbait.
@X99STRIKER there is a dark mode script for the site, but it only works if you have downloaded or are willing to download the Tampermonkey browser extension.
THIS IS NEEDED🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥
A really annoying issue with branching replies is that you can reply to the same thing multiple times from multiple people. This is especially egregious if you ask a question and then see the answer afterwards, as an example.
It's just clunky. Linear systems are common, and so everyone sees everything. You don't end up with hidden information strewn about everywhere
So, yeah. I am strongly against that idea.
It works for thousands of comments, not dozens.
As someone who frequently uses Reddit, terrible idea. Those are impossible to sift through.
While it works on larger sites, this isn't a large site. Having everything in series is much easier to follow.
@BMilan at least using real humans is better than using a shitty bot moderator
@DeeganWithABazooka i feel like the points counter isn't really tempting to the devs, maybe they will just label their badge "TM" for Thumbnail Moderation
I agree with 1 and 3
A better replies system would be quite nice
@BMilan I suggest their badge should be Pink with their Point Counter showing
Aside from the meme tag part (some clueless users will certainly misuse it and post random memes not related to the game at all) I agree with all of them. For the thumbnail part, I think we should have a dedicated team of users who need to manually approve thumbnail changes (similar to how the curators work) to avoid abuse (the max two edits limitation you suggested wouldn't prevent this, but if we had a team of at least, lets say, 10 people or more from all over the world, we could ensure that there would be at least one online to quickly confirm and approve or reject thumbnail edits. They'd have no mod powers or anything, just approving or rejecting thumbnail edits)
Yes, yes, and yes.
Dark mode also
