3D printed RC plane.

Mod Vincent  2.1 years ago

After coming across this masterpiece, i knew i had to one-up Walvis.

So i decided to dedicate seven months towards making a CAD model of the
Ta-152 C-3 and print every single piece on an Ender 3.

Specs:
2826 980kv Brushless (May go bigger, made a universal motor mount for that specific reason)
2200mAh 4s 25c LiPo.
Standard 9.3g servos
Around 1kg.
Wingspan: 890mm
Total length: 897mm

I used spackle/primer to fill in the layer gaps that comes with FDM printers, then sanded away the excess.

I made a custom propeller that's more proportional to the plane than a lot of pre-existing ones, i'm going to test it first and see if it can handle the centrifugal forces

Thank you to Walv!s for that incredible work of "art"

@Vincent Although I have resorted to eating insects in order not to starve to death, this does not make a spider nor a man.

@ChamDel7 Yes, the house is real. It also has a very real basement. I know this because Vincent has held me captive in his basement for a long time know. Please help. I haven't seen my wife and kids in weeks.

@MAINE I Have an Ender 3 pro (basically an ender 3 with a glass bed)

if i decide to make the propeller work i'll probably cover it in epoxy and then sand it smooth, that should make the quality of the layer adhesion irrelevant.

I use gyroid, it's my favourite infill.

    @Vincent
I would think a 3D printed propeller would shred at high RPM's. Though, through some trial and error you may get it to work. Just keep messing with the infill pattern. I would think cubic subdivision would provide the best strength for all the forces. With the nozzle output set to the smallest you can go and don't do a solid fill but, set it to something like 90%. To give it strength and rigidity while still allowing flex. Maybe even bump it down to 80%.
I haven't touched my 3D printer in a year. I've just been too busy to sit there and calibrate it. Ends up taking hours and then I never seem to get it perfect across the entire bed. I have the Anycubic Chiron. Big BED so harder to get it to be perfectly even. It's so called automatic leveling is far from automatic or a leveling device.
    Beautiful 3D print!
    What printer do you have?

@Zippy6 I think around 25 hours for each wing, probably 40 for the body.
