Making RC Planes in SimplePlanes? Good Idea?

120k ACEPILOT109  2.8 years ago

So this was an idea I've had for a really long time, and you may remember when I first did this a while ago with my PT-109. I then made my Bush Plane and you guys seemed to really like it! so I have designed some more RC planes in SP! they are not near accurate to what the real thing will be but they are very close, just missing some details and such.

here are my designs, and the first two are based on vintage models I liked.

Flying Dorito

Fast Force One

Real aircraft.

Circle Wing

Twin Boomer

These are just some of my planned planes, and all of them fly in SP (although not the best) but are mainly to help me visualize my planes before I make them! If you are interested in following me with this you can always follow my account or subscribe to my YouTube account and as always, thanks!

    These planes will be posted when I make the real thing and make a video along with it.
    Or just whenever I want (:

    This is such a clever idea! I fly foamboard RC planes and drones myself. It's so fun!

    @BaconAircraft how do you get fusion “essentially free”, last time I looked at it is was $495 a year.

    @BaconAircraft Oh my god yesss
    One of my teachers used it once and just couldn't get around it, I tried it myself and literally had zero clue how to use it lol

    @ACEPILOT109 Learn it. CAD is beyond useful.

    @Kangy If you really wanna torture yourself since you can use fusion, may I suggest CATIA V5

    @BaconAircraft Fusion is so good
    I can't even use a 3D printer but I still use it lol

    The circle wing might be a problem with maintaining structural integrity on the wing

    I've tried it out, very interesting program, I just haven't had the time to learn it all

    While sp is fine. I would encourage you to learn some CAD software. Notably, Fusion360 - it’s essentially free and comes with more than enough features. One of which is definitely not achievable in SP is analyzing stress and strain, as such deformations. This can be especially helpful for wings and structural components if you’re going for cantilevered components without struts or completely overengineering. You can use that information to better optimize your design in terms of strength and weight.
