I use Orthographic view to make sure I can get a full screenshot of a flag. So that it almost looks like a wikipedia image of a flag. Just look at most of my uploads.
There are its uses. There are also not its uses. And some use it for what it isn't meant for like what Bogdan said; to get more attention. But we also have to remember there are still people playing on phones with the processors of a potato and they may not be able to take good screenshots because of lag or their device doesn't have the screenshot feature. Just remember PC isn't everything
Because its the only feature that i think good or fitting for mobile users, Since we cant use other designer mods after 1.9 Update, Since designer suite cant make custom thumbnail just like in PC in any other mobile device.
Probably because for a lot of users it’s just something new to play around with. I will admit that for some builds it looks really good. The CR-90 that was posted recently looked fantastic with this view on but it does ruin the shape of most aircraft. It will probably die down soon once people are bored of it

It helps show distance between things, if you do an explode view it’s easier to see it

Sometimes low-FOV shots look nice, but straight up orthographic is awful. But as others have said, it probably draws attention

Look at the third screenshot of the Delorian Time Machine, it looks good

It draws attention to builds on mobile that can't take custom screenshots or add a colored background. It looks somewhat bad, but it gains attention.
