Yes this is a lame teaser for a new weapon I'm doing besides an airborne battleship.
My recommendation would be to add some sort of fin or series of fins on the bottom of the hull. It provides more stability than just a solid vertical stabilizer as a rudder (see my two most recent ship projects, not counting the Montana eggship, for more details).
