    • ii - I forgor password 💀

Please ask if you found that confusing, I know how complex this truely is and I'll be happy to help if you didn't understand

@dosethiswork it's kinda useless because of how part inefficient it is now, but due to the style and detail of this, imo it's still better than all the default ones in the game lol

You could put small low input jet engines where the wheels are and make them only activate if that wheel is touching the ground. That's basically how the wheels already work anyway lol
If you set the max input really low and add power multiplier to counteract it, you can make the engines both way quieter and speed up faster.

  • How to build good looking ww2 fighters 9 months ago

The philosophy of WWII aircraft is to basically have the biggest propeller and most powerful engine available attached to an airframe which is basically a 3 way battle between durability, manoeuvrability and speed.
    .
If your struggling with the design, I would recommend looking at cross sectional pictures of WWII planes to see what's inside them and how they're arranged, looking at the shape of them, taking note of their proportions and especially the size and shape of their engines, location of tye cockpit and the size and shape of their wings and tail, and base your design off that. If you're struggling to make something fictional, it might actually be easier to make a replica first and use some blueprints

I'm not fully adept with how ground textures in Unity work, but would you be able to give the ground a gravely texture? The subtle variation of the ground colour and the hangers in the background would make this a really good mod for backgrounds in screenshots and thumbnails for ground vehicles.

Counter rotating props that intersect like this are a bit complicated because to make sure the props never hit each other, there needs to be some sort of drive shaft that connects them, which adds a lot of needless complexity and weight. However, what you can do is offset one prop further forward slightly so that they don't intersect, which is good because it doesn't add any complexity and has the same effect. This is how this twin Tri-Pacer works.

    1. If you press the down arrow next to the download counter on your build after you've uploaded it, you can use that to do all the text formatting stuff. -

  • How do u build your planes? 10 months ago

In a nutshell, I'd finish of making all the major exterior details before thinking about the cockpit. The earlier you make the cockpit, the more likely you're gonna have nightmares with parts attaching to everything.

  • How do u build your planes? 10 months ago

    This is my personal order:
    Bottom of fuselage
    Rear fuselage
    Top of fuselage
    Wings
    Tail
    Engine
Make it fly with basic flight model
    Landing gear
    Cockpit/Interior
    Minor details
    Livery
    Perfect/finish flight model

  • Seek and Destroy 10 months ago

Why didn't you just paint the elevators red and use a basic text part to write seek and destroy? The way you've done it here, it's actually seeking and destroying everyone who downloads this plane's computer.

A tip for making connections for mirroring easier, when you mirror stuff, seperate everything attached to a rotator out, so that when it's mirrored, none of the parts are close to anything else on the other side of the build, or even its self.
This is kinda hard to explain without a picture lol

Use overload, and open the scaling tool. Make sure "calculate mass" is ticked, and scale tour build down to a smaller size. Then open the scaling tool again and make sure that "calculate mass" is unticked, and scale it back up by the inverse of the amount you scaled it down by.
    Bam. Bulk reduced mass.
    .
    Notes:

    1. This only works for the whole build. If you only want a part of your build's mass reduced, save that part as a sub assembly, create a new aircraft, then bring in the sub assembly and scale the mass, then save it as a new sub assembly.
    2. The mass scales cubically, so if you scale the build by 1/2 in each dimension, the mass will become 1/8th of what it used to be.
