Clever. It would be great for some sort of escape vehicle too.
With the proper mix of engines, vectors and timing you could actually make an "engine" that varies it's output throughout a flight. Not sure why, someone would want to, but it's a neat concept.
Thank's. I think if I spent time on it, reshaping the wing(s), fiddling with the flats and elevators, and probably downsizing the engine I could get it to fly better. But I wanted to get the first 4 parter out there.
Shush! That one of the secrets! It isn't the best flier, but I wanted to get a 4 parter up before someone beat me to it. I'm sure that with some adjusting it could be a better plane.
Your welcome. I learned a couple things doing it. I didn't know you could enter the size of a part manually, and that you didn't have to use 0.25 increments. So it was worth it.
Yeah it flies-for about 60 seconds. Then it runs out of fuel. The inverted controls seem to come with small jets,or aircraft where the horizontal stabs are in front. I can even make this brick a little smaller.
Thanks. What I'm trying to model is an FS-1 Flying Sub (Google will help find a picture). The tricky bit is going to be the manta "wings" on each side. I'm thinking at least a pair on each side, and getting that kind of smooth slope out of fuselage blocks is going to be tricky.
Thanks, Glad to be here. I guess the way to do is is the bar of soap approach? That Is I get the basic dimensions right and then trim away and smooth it until is'a about right and then star fine tunning it with little bits? Okay. Looks like modelling the FS-1 is going to be a bit of a challenge for me.
Okay, the problem was something with the nosecose. It was over 1900 parts! I posted a version with a new nosecone that is hopefully the same size and shape. You can find it at: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/yA3S6w/Help-Plssssss-fixed
I handles well, and while the dual wing is curious, I love the prop. How did you get that strut to run right through the prop? A little bouyancy and this would make an awesome seaplane. The central prop avoids most of the seaplane engine problems.
It was just you landing was wrong for the center of mass. A quick test is when resting the plane should have it weight resting on most if not all the landing gear. Right now your plane doesn't use the rear gear to rest on, but needs the weight there to take off in the water. So be careful if you decide to remove it.
It handles nice. My one suggestion for improvment would be to move the brakes. With the brakes right in front of the cockpit. If flying from F1 tapping the brakes blocks the pilot's view, which, under certain circumstances, could lead to the pilot flying right into the mast of a destroyer.
I'm not on console either, I'm on a Windows PC. But I use a GameSir controller for my joystick.
Oh, and I just discovered last night that parts that aren't attached to a plane can affect it. It turns out my 600+mph speedboat/flyer was benefiting from the VTOL engine on a subassembly I had removed from the craft. So beware any spare parts.
Oh, certainly. But I did it just to see if it could be done and if the plane would still fly. It can and it does. It's not very practical, although it suppose it could be turned into a flying wing.
@TheLegend69
Just for giggles I dug out the little cockpit, moved it to the end and mirrored this out to 9 planes! Added some missiles and went hunting the Beast. It still flies! But it turns like a passenger plane.
That this thing flies as well as it does is amazing. That the guns can sink a destroyer is unbelievable! I bet it wasn't as easy to make as it looks, either.
@AikoFoxNeko
Ah, I was going to say recalibrate. I spend a good part of a night trying to "fix" a glider that developed that very same problem only to discover that the settings for stick on my controller "drifted" off center.
I don't think it's a controller problem. I think that the game some how "corrects" the joystick when a plane gets destroyed while banking.

+1Really nice! How did you get that speed boost at takeoff? It was like really taking off in a jet.
Nice! BTW, what does VTOL do?
@Flameslinger
A skateboard. Ya gotta bring ya own.
Does it have to reach the end of Yeager on its own, or can someone steer it to keep it going straight?
Is there a trick to getting this started? It's just sitting on the track and slowly rolls backwards.
Smooth. Glides well, too. Can probably visit everyone one the map in one trip and still have fuel in the tank.

I'm in. Entry submitted.

Oops. Well it flies okay. Even takes off without landing gear. A touch of tail wobble.
It crashed my i7. Wow. And I got 32GB of RAM.

This thing is fantastically stable. I went to the fridge, got a coke, came back, dropped the controller and it was still flying straight and level.
The thing has a great body for a seaplane. I extend the fuselage a little and tapered the end a little and got the take off speed down to around 160.

Okay here it is: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/5Og6wk/Confusing-aircraft-fixed
I changed your landing gear and can get the plane to take off. It's a little sluggish but flies okay. Would you want me to post it with the new gear?
Oh, and it seems to be a good seaplane if that was what you were going for. Better than the one I was making!
I wonder if it could be made to fly with some fold out wings?
Steady, stable, turns smoothly, fun to fly, and even I can land it blindfolded.
This is cool. It has the best rudder I've seen so far.

This is a nice little plane.

It takes off and flies straight and true for me. Are you flying by keyboard or joystick?
