I timed how long this took to load on my phone. It took 2 minutes and 1 second. After loading it worked fine though.
Is there a way to change turning to roll? Would make it possible to rotate camera with mouse controls (and make it more playable on mobile)
Flyout is more replica orientated, SimplePlanes is more experimentally orientated. Rotators and stuff are much simpler in flyout (at least Ive heard), not allowing for the crazy stuff you can do in SP
@Graingy remove SD card (in order to rule it out as the culprit) and format system, then see if it runs ok afterwards. Please note that the 3ds will change it's encryption key when you reformat it, so data from the card will no longer work. Assuming you have an R4 card, you could just do a CTRTransfer if all else fails.

Make sure you charge up the 3ds FULLY before doing any of this. You'll know it's full when the orange light is off while plugged in. Keep it plugged in during as well.

@Graingy my 11 year old 3ds from launch still works perfectly fine with zero issues, even after dropping it on pavement a few times. My 5 year old "new" 3ds model still runs fine, but needs a new C stick nub due to excessive wear (I tore the thing to shreds after years of playing Minecraft 3ds)
@Graingy also the 3ds can run the DSI operating system, the 3DS master race reigns supreme. What the DSI can do, the 3DS can do better. (Excluding screen resolution on the XL models)
@o2o this weekend I'll upload a video of me playing it on my 3DS. As for how? I'm keeping that black magic to myself. Though for the first steps, mod your 3DS
