We may be able to refit four of your Vengeance-class aircraft cruisers to carry highly-experimental railguns. It would involve removing the flight deck, hanger and 8 VLS tubes but would allow you to strike targets precisely, with no warning and from a thousand miles away. The refit would cost $1.6 billion per vessel.

@Jim1the1Squid I know, but here the main threat you are likely to face are guided-missile destroyers. Here aircraft are easily shot down by SAMs, but battleships are more resilient to anti-ship missile strikes and can engage the destroyers before their secondary gun armament comes into range.
Also we will send the SWS Euryalus and a pair of battleships to join the celebrations.
We will send 3 frigates and 2 battleships to defend your country.

For an interceptor the emphasis is on speed, acceleration and climb rate. Range and manoeuvrablity is usually seen as less important.
