    The Obeah lives on!

  • Jet Fuel Consumption 7.7 years ago

@MechWARRIOR57 And how might a neophyte like myself go about this incredible task?

  • Jet Fuel Consumption 7.7 years ago

Wait, there's an unlimited fuel tank option somewhere? And yeah, I'm talking about the high end jets. My Arjan series jet goes through it all in like 5 minutes since the patch.

@SimplePlaneCreations Thanks. I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship.

  • Hart Arms - SPC "A-12A1 Hellbringer" Attacker 7.8 years ago

@AceOfSpade Well, at least you're excited for it, right?

  • A-12 Hellbringer 7.8 years ago

Set a vertical control surface at the end of a wing, then push q or e to rotate it. After that, you can attach a second one at the end of the same wing, and rotate it to the opposite position. Finally, disable the invert on the lower wing to ensure the surface moves the same way as the top. And yeah, its kind of hard to edit it without straight up remaking it. @SimplePlaneCreations

Oh my! I am happy to see what you have done to expand on the Obeah.
A little sad to see my tail design get changed, as I rather liked the flat profile. On the other hand, your version has better handling in every regard, so you win.

@LazyPanduh Another issue I'm having is that SP planes seem to go through fuel disproportionately quickly

  • Hart Arms "Arjan" Ace Fighter 7.9 years ago

@LazyPanduh Perhaps I could work out a way to make the tail surfaces into elevons.

  • Hart Arms "Arjan" Ace Fighter 7.9 years ago

@LazyPanduh My next great hurdle is trying to think of ways to improve the next generation of this plane.

  • About the airfoils.. 7.9 years ago

@Mox The tutorial doesn't really explain flat, though.

  • Hart Arms "Arjan" Ace Fighter 7.9 years ago

@LazyPanduh Once you get going fast, you can't really force it into a tight turn, you have to gently ease it into a tight turn, but if you do that, you can do a full elevator turn at 800mph without losing control.

  • Hart Arms "Thirteen" Interceptor 7.9 years ago

    @dogspit How so?

  • Hart Arms "Huntress" Stealth Interceptor 8.3 years ago

@DownUnderWing Oh god, flying wings. THE HORROR.

  • Hart Arms "Huntress" Stealth Interceptor 8.3 years ago

@DownUnderWing You just say that because you didn't have to work out the lift-balance issues like I did.

  • Thrust Vectoring design 8.3 years ago

@TheStapler I'll give that a go and keep the thread updated with any further progress in that regard.

  • Thrust Vectoring design 8.3 years ago

I have been discovering that engines attached to moving mounts can't utilize air intakes located on the main body of the aircraft. This is an unfortunate problem that rather limits design options.

  • Hart Arms "Shadarack II" Attacker 8.3 years ago

Sorry for the rapid reupload. There were unforseen issues with the gun placement.

I did my best to reduce drag as much as possible, but however the game calculates drag is kind of a mystery to me. I would appreciate any and all suggestions regarding drag and top speed.

Here you go, I'd be interested in your feedback.

  • Classic jet fighter Mk2 8.4 years ago

An excellent little fighter. I especially like the fuselage structures between the wings and the tail. They make for some nice lines, as they say.
However, I find it to be a bit "bouncy" during maneuvers. Have you tried moving the main wing forward and increasing the size of the tail wings?

I have made a slightly altered version that I can post if you're interested.

If you die from Leukemia, it unfortunately makes you an unsuitable candidate for employment by the Hart Armaments corporation. So, you know, please don't die of leukemia.

  • What do you... 8.4 years ago

I think about what sort of plane I want to build, then, because I'm a nerd loser, I pull different design concepts from my encyclopedic knowledge of historical and contemporary warplanes.

@Rugpeersdude Oh. Hello. I am a literate individual currently pursuing college education. That's why I missed the bold italicized large lettered link in the OP.

  • Help with balancing CoM, CoL, and CoT 8.4 years ago

Center of lift should usually be a ways behind your center of mass. There's a few reasons for this, but it mostly boils down to making the plane more stable.

However top mounted engines change the dynamic a bit. Perhaps moving the CoL forwards will help counteract the off-center CoT

A few more tags for plane types, maybe? (Interceptor, CAS, Attacker, etc)

This thread brings up another issue. I want to be able to upvote people's posts inside a thread.

  • (Feedback) Forced separation of entities linking in the middle of the plane 8.4 years ago

Just to wrap things up, I built a simple "proof of concept" and have posted it for the perusal of anyone curious.

    @TheLatentImage I'll give that a go, thanks.

  • (Feedback) Forced separation of entities linking in the middle of the plane 8.4 years ago

@CDUflappy I have, and the only solution is to reduce the width of the panels so that they don't completely enclose the bomb bay, which rather ruins the effect, I feel.
