@F4f879 You don't really need autopilot to build a level-flying plane -- the autopilot is just to have a standard way to level out each entry, to eliminate human error.
To simulate test conditions, you can take off from Wright, turn around and fly some distance, then turn around again to give yourself plenty of distance to the destroyer. Then you can manually level out your plane, and then release the controls as you pass the destroyer.
@ThatWeirdGuy Thanks, I spent quite some time perfecting my flight module. Most of my planes, especially the recent ones, fly more or less the same because of it.
Re: your Typhoon, I like the fairing behind the canopy on the new one, but I preferred the more downward-pointing nose of the old one. Downward-pointing noses look more badass, to use a technical term.
That's good news that the Concorde may be coming back, I'd certainly like to fly in one someday.
@Treadmill103 With me it was a case of "hmm, now I can make a torus, what can I use this for?" That Cutangus design has a way of sticking in your mind.
@Almond04 Nope. If I were an iOS user I'd petition the developers to enable XML modding in the base game, but they're focusing on SR2 these days so chances of that happening are slim.
@ThomasRoderick As a matter of fact, no. I wasn't even thinking of the Gloster Meteor (I had no idea what that looked like) when I was building this or naming it. It's just one hell of a coincidence.
@JoeCFX No, there's no way to update an upload. You'll just have to create another one. You can delete this one or not, that's entirely up to you. Don't worry about cluttering up my view, If someone has multiple entries I'll ask them to pick one as their final entry.
@hopotumon FYI, I have released a parts kit, which is all you need to build a plane that can win this challenge. Look at the challenge post description, at the top, for the link.
@ThatWeirdGuy The best thing you could do, and not just for this game but for life in general, is to get a Real Computer. Phones and tablets are consumption devices, they seriously hamper your creativity. It's like taking a squeaky unicycle on the highway compared to a high-performance car. Get a computer, and unlock your brain.
Short answer: number of parts, and rotators/pistons don't work well in this game at the moment.
Long answer:
My planes (and other things) take off and land just fine without landing gear.
Rotators (and pistons and detachers and pylons) don't work very well. They're wobbly, and don't operate smoothly -- they jerk at the start and end of the motion, and at the end of the rotation, they wobble for a while. I have a very strong aversion to wasting my time on things that don't work well.
When the parts budget is so limited, It's hard for me to justify adding a bunch of parts for something that will only be used for a few seconds and, on top of that, doesn't work well.
They day Jundroo fixes rotators and pistons to be strong and operate smoothly, and rotators to not cause uneven drag problems, is the day you'll see me building the some of the best damned landing gear on this website.
@ThatWeirdGuy And you, sir, are the first person on this website to even mention the word philosophy to me, and maybe the second to say that you like it. Welcome aboard, and you have a new follower as well.
Nah, I hate ambulances. Also, if you look closely, the SD Industries hallmarks are all there: smooth shape, smooth handling, stable flight characteristics, ridiculously oversized engines, powerful and accurate weapons, no landing gear, and the colourful paint scheme. The only uncharacteristic thing is the cuteness. I'm sure that was an accident... :)
Thanks, @JBird. As a rather famous man named Lincoln once said, you can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.
@RMark1 No bother at all. Sounds like you know what you're about. Is there a new i5 as well? If yes, surely that must be better than the new i3. I'm not as up to date with the hardware scene as I used to be.
@F4f879 Ha, no. I have a Latin-English dictionary that I scan for cool-sounding words, and then there's always Google Translate.
@F4f879 Caesar? Sounds like you're getting a good education. Keep at it.
@F4f879 Oh, that way. Yeah, but I chose the name because it's the name of a constellation.
@F4f879 Try reducing the size of the control surfaces so maneuvers are smoother.
Once the challenge ends, I'll post a tutorial showing how to build something that flies level. It only takes a few minutes :)
@F4f879 I'm guessing that's a sci-fi movie/comic reference?

@WIZARD2017 I suppose it does...
Thanks, @WalrusManufacturingCo2
Thanks, @WIZARD2017
@KillerDread Here you go. Under 300 parts.
@ThatWeirdGuy Yeah, I had a few books about space when I was a kid. Those images are burned in my mind...
@Strikefighter04 You should try more of my builds, these guns have been around for a while. Since this build, in fact.
@EternalDarkness It's ok, I'm just having a little fun. :)
@EternalDarkness But it's not a real airplane... :)
@Strikefighter04 What about them?
@Treadmill103 With me it was a case of "hmm, now I can make a torus, what can I use this for?" That Cutangus design has a way of sticking in your mind.
@ThatWeirdGuy That makes sense, the spinning torus is one of the most common space station designs.
@SeanTurbineModifier Good to know. Why not just reformat your laptop and reinstall everything?
@SeanTurbineModifier You mean it's not? I have no way of knowing.
@Jetpackturtle Yeah, it's pretty amazing.
@Jetpackturtle Yeah. Not intentionally, though. The shape and the name are a complete coincidence.
@KSPFSXandSP You really like the Concorde, hmm? OK, I'll see what I can do.
@Almond04 Nope. If I were an iOS user I'd petition the developers to enable XML modding in the base game, but they're focusing on SR2 these days so chances of that happening are slim.
@KSPFSXandSP I mean it looks civilian, harmless.
Thanks, @Almond04
To whom it may concern
I wish a certain two-faced individual would just leave me alone.
Thanks. If you like it, why not upvote it? @ACMECo1940
@KillerDread What's a mobile friendly size?
Thanks, @Davisplanez
@Davisplanez Just so you know, if you like a build, you can hit the upvote button to the right so it ranks higher and more people can see it.
@JoeCFX Sure, take your time, the deadline is over two weeks away.
@Quagga It means that whenever I do something repeatedly, I make improvements to the process so it doesn't take me as long, and/or works better.
@ThomasRoderick As a matter of fact, no. I wasn't even thinking of the Gloster Meteor (I had no idea what that looked like) when I was building this or naming it. It's just one hell of a coincidence.

@ThatWeirdGuy Yeah, I remember those days of not having money. Don't worry, you seem like a smart guy, so that should change soon.

Handles beautifully.

@RMark1 The only change I'd recommend is to replace the i3 with an i5 if you can. Otherwise, for $900 that's a good build.
@RMark1 That's very impressive.
@RMark1 Sure, if you like.
@RMark1 iPhone X, I suppose? I still prefer my 4K desktop :)
