@RedstoneArmory yeah man the only way for us to do that would be to add all of those planes in to one build, spaced out like that. You would most likely do that by making whole planes in to subassemblies
@RBEEDUDE1 thanks for the upvote! Erm, it's thought to choose... the Su-47, Draken, and X-36 are probably my top picks though. I mostly like the crazy prototypes for testing new ideas, they're always the most interesting to me. What makes you ask?
@PuhBuhGuh more so than you might expect. The Spirit of Australia hit 300 mph under the power of a Westinghouse J34 with 3,400 lbf - nearly identical to the 3,370 lbf that our J15s get. The real advantage we have over real life if the permanently glass-smooth water with no waves
@MEGANOOB yeah I'd like to do those things, but unfortunately they aren't possible as far as I know. If I had made it to a far larger scale, sure, it could probably be done, but right now circular intakes of any sort are pretty troublesome. Maybe in the next update we'll be lucky
Oh you mean the way that it takes ages to slow down the last 30-or-so mph? I was thinking about high speeds. What you said makes much more sense to me now haha
@grizzlitn don't worry about your English, it's definitely good enough to understand, and certainly better than when I try to speak other languages. Will you be going to see the Force Awakens when it comes out?
Welcome to SimplePlanes! Tunisia seems like an interesting place, although I don't know a whole lot about besides that a lot of the Star Wars sets are there haha.
What sort of thing would you like to build? Originals/replicas, time period, civilian/military etc. I'll try to find something interesting based on that
Normally flying wings are kept stable with a fly-by-wire system, because with no vertical surfaces, they're totally unstable in the yaw axis. We don't have this option in SP, so a true flying wing will just spin off course. There's two solutions that I know of:
hide a vertical stabiliser inside a fuselage section somewhere
use a progressively steeper dihedral towards the outer edges of the wings, so that they curve upwards. I've had a fair bit of success with this method, but it's no use for replicating real-life designs
I use a wifi file transfer app to just get the XML file on to my laptop, I find it much easier than trying to do it on my phone. Try things and see what works for you
With regards to this actual plane: I tested it out, and I didn't get the levelling out at 28,000 ft - in fact, even when I ran it with 2% throttle, it climbed happily up to 400,00ft before levelling (and then dropping down again, because apparently at that height the air is effectively nonexistent). However, I noticed that you mentioned fuel as being a limiting factor, but it seems to be infinite for me. It starts at 0% and then just works anyway. Has something just gone awry in my download?
Also, props for making something so fast that it occasionally doesn't even get one frame of visibility in fly-by cam
Edit: never mind about the fuel, just found out that it does actually run out
There was a big update to add a whole load of new content a few months back. These things include: a whole new island (the old one is still there, though, and you can fly between them); several new engines and cockpits; customisable propeller engines; the new fuselage parts. I've probably missed some, but I'll go through that stuff quickly.
New island: exactly what it sounds like, there is new landscape to explore. It includes some fun features like bridges, hangars, and a bunch of narrow valleys to navigate. You should have locations available like Murphy Airport and Bandit Airport. To get from the old island to the new one, take off from the south runway and turn a little bit right, so you fly over the carrier, you should get to the island that way.
New engines: I'll cover prop engines in another section, so all I'll mention here is the BFE120. It's now the biggest and most powerful engine, essentially just a beefed up version of the old large jet engine, which is now the J90. All of the other jet engines are the same as before, they just have new names.
New prop engines: prop engines got a massive update. There's now three types, of different sizes, but you can now adjust the size, number of blades, power and so on. High-performance prop aircraft are way more viable now.
New cockpits: you can now pick from a variety of styles of cockpits. They're all functionally the same, it's just an appearance thing. Cockpits now have an options menu which lets you set that cockpit to be the primary one. Any non-primary cockpits are just decorative.
Fuselage parts: these are intended to supersede the old blocks as the main way of building your plane's structure. I highly recommend you get familiar with them, they're exceedingly versatile. They can hold fuel and provide buoyancy if you like, so they can also replace floating blocks and fuel tanks.
All in all we got a massive update with a whole load of awesome new stuff. Have fun exploring it, and feel free to ask about anything else
@XVIindustries I wouldn't worry mate, this is the population density of the UK - it's really only the southern half of England that's busy. Not only that, but the UK's fertility rate is actually a little beneath replacement, so we'd have a shrinking population without immigration. No matter what the tabloids and TV like to say, it really isn't that bad
A lot of planes get uploaded to this website, so it can be hard to stand out. I had a look at your planes and they seem totally fine, but the problem is that everyone else here has also built their own planes pretty similar to them. If you want to get attention, you need to do something that most designs don't, basically. Some people, like SpiritusRaptor, build really detailed and accurate replicas. Others, like Delphinus, have a very distinctive and unusual style of original planes. Don't be disheartened, though, it doesn't mean you're a bad builder or anything like that! It's just difficult to get attention, and that applies to everyone.
I totally understand if you don't want to take this one on, because I have no idea how to make the fuselage, but the BAe P.125 prototype is pretty cool. I tried building one a while back but just got nowhere
It seems that they were chosen by the devs here. They were chosen by the devs, so I suppose the devs were looking for frequent and helpful users who they felt could be trusted to enforce the rules fairly.
I think I have an answer to this. Wings exert their forces on the root chord of the wing (the part where it joins the body), roughly one quarter back from the front. On your plane that's pretty much dead on the centre of mass, so the force has no leverage to work with.
This thing is pretty fun, nice work. The missiles in particular are excellent. I found it pretty difficult to make use of the VTOL controls without it nosing down hard, though

Which system are you on?

@MEGANOOB what do you think needs done? I did basically everything I could think of within the constraints of the game and it being a replica
@grizzlitn don't worry about your English, it's definitely good enough to understand, and certainly better than when I try to speak other languages. Will you be going to see the Force Awakens when it comes out?
In the case of VTOL, you can move the outlets as finely as you want, surely that's better than adding ballast? Or am I missing something?
Welcome to SimplePlanes! Tunisia seems like an interesting place, although I don't know a whole lot about besides that a lot of the Star Wars sets are there haha.
@Kimo sweet, I'll check this out when I get a chance!
Doesn't water already basically bring you to an immediate stop unless you skip off of it? I'd like to see everything else, though
What sort of thing would you like to build? Originals/replicas, time period, civilian/military etc. I'll try to find something interesting based on that
Wasn't the original passenger component removed to keep the game's rating down, though? That might prevent something like this, unfortunately
Honestly I'd most like to see an option to just type your preferred size in without needing to open the XML

@Stingray ahh well in that case you totally nailed it, it does that perfectly
I use a wifi file transfer app to just get the XML file on to my laptop, I find it much easier than trying to do it on my phone. Try things and see what works for you
This is what happens when I max the thrust and then leave it alone

@Stingray it's a drag boat challenge, found here
It's also here
@goboygo1 that sounds hilarious. I'm afraid I don't have any advice, though, I've never used anything with negative weight
@FIRESHOTER @AnarchistAerospaceIndustries @AlphaOneIndustries thanks!
@Kimo haha, it's easy to build something quickly when somebody else has already done the fuselage and engine
@Kimo hahaha, thanks! @ronyseptian17 thanks for your vote too!

@Delphinus @Kimo here's my second entry
@Kimo Really? I'm flattered! It was up to 900mph earlier, but I'm still trying to solve a few stability issues
@RocketLL @Dynimerous @Delphinus @CarterIndustries thanks for the votes!
@Kimo thanks! I'm working on a more powerful version, since this one apparently can't keep up with Delphinus' challenge
@SFR do you mean parts like the fuselage sections and all that?

This looks awesome, I kinda want to try and turn it in to a plane. Good luck in the contest!
I'm up in the northern end of the UK. How come?
@goboygo1 sweet, tag me in the plane when it's up so I can see!
@Brields95 they are with XML modding
@goboygo1 I can do the custom weights if you really need, but would the ones on this plane work?
@DeezDucks @JaySto @swat132 @lucasmah @aircroft thank you all!
@bobthetitan123 thanks, that was a right pain to figure out haha
@ElGatoVolador @Earthbenderrwefa thank you both!
How's this?

@ElGatoVolador and @Kimo thank you both!
@RBEEDUDE1 cheers mate
