@HellFireKoder thanks dude, honestly that mod is just really useful in general

  • Biggest Plane Challenge 9.5 years ago

    What's the deadline?

  • BOOMERANG 9.5 years ago

Alright, you've clearly worked hard on this and it shows. I made a couple of edits here to deal with what I thought needed the most work, you can either take that for yourself, use it for ideas, or ignore it completely, your call! It's a cool and original design, you should be proud of it

  • BAe Hawk - Red Arrows colours 9.5 years ago

@PhantomTiger105 place the .spmod file in to C:\Users[you]\AppData\LocalLow\Jundroo\SimplePlanes\Mods, open SimplePlanes, go to the "mods" menu option, and enable the mod. You should now have a new part category available in the editor. We're working on improving it, but it's a nice little basic version for now

  • How do I post my planes 9.5 years ago

Use the "share" button at the top of the left-hand menu in the builder

  • Help Mobile Users Out! 9.5 years ago

I don't think that would be possible, they aren't made from regular blocks in v1.3. You'll get them soon, though!

  • NEW THINGS 9.5 years ago

@TheRicks2 autopilot is in v1.3, so hopefully mobile platforms will get it this month. It tries to keep the plane flying in a straight line at the altitude you engaged it at, other than avoiding collisions

  • Best A6M Zero? 9.5 years ago

I was testing Oicraftian's Zero earlier and it was wickedly agile because of how the wings are done, it should fare pretty well

  • Modding??? 9.5 years ago

The thing that is usually referred to as "modding" on here is editing your planes' xml files in a text editor. This isn't really modding, so to speak, just bypassing the restrictions of the editor. That's how people do things like more powerful engines, weirdly clipped parts, and really tiny fuselage sections.

You can also do actual modding, which is adding new content in to the game. Which one is it that you're looking for?

  • NEW THINGS 9.5 years ago

Intakes that can be customised and reshaped like fuselage sections would be awesome, as would an in-game xml editor

  • More exact fuselage blocks 9.5 years ago

@Rennfan Android users can access their files too, just the same as PC players. For me, they're in:

    Internal storage\Android\data\com.Jundroo.SimplePlanes\files\AircraftDesigns

It might be different for you, especially if you keep your game files on an SD card, but once you find them you can still use any text editor just the same way.

Note that free-spinning rotators don't have any power. It might be worth getting a large modded prop off of some of the other helicopters on the site

  • English Electric Lightning F.1 9.5 years ago

Huh, weird. Moving the rear landing gear forward so it's closer to the CoM should help with that

  • English Electric Lightning F.1 9.5 years ago

Nice work, it looks great. Changing the stabilisers to semi-symmetric helps it fly level too

  • More exact fuselage blocks 9.5 years ago

@Rennfan here it is, split across a couple of comments. dsr1's help is good to have too, s/he builds cool stuff.

To answer your questions, yes and yes. Good luck, and feel free to ask either of us for help!

  • I need help 9.5 years ago

@DatsunVehiclesCompany I'm afraid you won't be able to, then. Sorry about that. Feel free to post requests for parts on the forums, though. It shouldn't stop you from building cool stuff, General360 doesn't use any modding at all and he manages fine

  • how to make sub assembly 9.5 years ago

@LemonLad alright, detach the cockpit and you should be able to make it a subassembly

  • how to make sub assembly 9.5 years ago

@LemonLad is it detached from the cockpit in that separate design?

  • More exact fuselage blocks 9.5 years ago

That's done through xml editing, which is an option on every platform except iOS, I believe. I wrote a guide about it recently which I can link you to if you want to try it, but basically it means editing your plane's save file with a text editor, rather than using the game. If you don't want to do this, or can't, feel free to save components from other planes in your subassemblies, or ask on the forums for a modded part if you need one.

  • How to improve 9.5 years ago

Hi Oicraftian, sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this, I've had a busy weekend. I tried out four or five of your planes, generally speaking they fly really well and are all incredibly manouevrable. The way you do thicker wings with numerous wing sections is probably pretty important to this, dat wing loading is just so low. So yeah, there's definitely no issue with how your planes fly.

In terms of looks, you usually do a decent job but there's not a lot to distinguish a lot of your prop planes from each other. Don't be afraid to build on a slightly larger scale like you did with the BK-29, which looks awesome.

As for deleting old planes, I wouldn't worry about that. Take a look at my old planes, they're still all up. It's kinda nice to be able to look back and see how far you've come, and nobody is gonna show up to look through your page and say "Hah look Oicraftian's planes weren't as good last year!".

Above all just have fun, I'm sure you'll enjoy v1.3 when it comes to mobile soon.

  • how to make sub assembly 9.5 years ago

It needs to be detached from the plane to make it a subassembly

  • BAe Hawk - Red Arrows colours 9.5 years ago

@AirplaneExpert624 it probably is the same one, the Hawk is a very successful jet trainer in real life. The RAF and a whole load of other air forces use it, and the US Navy has a modified version too.

    @Coolengineer thanks!

  • Unstable plane 9.5 years ago

@Jasperjl oh, one more thing about the fixed version: it's still pretty unsteady beneath 300mph, so be gentle on takeoff

  • Unstable plane 9.5 years ago

Alright, fixed! Changes are listed in the description. Again, I'm really sorry that I forgot about this, thank you for reminding me

  • Unstable plane 9.5 years ago

Alright so there's two things causing the problems for you. The first is that the CoT is really far down, so the engines are causing you plane to pitch up constantly. This can be sorta countered by setting the main wings to symmetric and the stabilisers to semi-symmetric, which basically just gives you more lift at the back to counter the thrust forcing a pitch up.

The other issue is the roll stability, which is caused by your main wings having a really big anhedral (downward dihedral). I'm still working on fixing that without changing the appearance too much, because I know that's what the Banshee is actually like

  • Hawk 9.5 years ago

Hi there kickincool. Just a quick question: did you change anything on this?

  • The Mini has just gotten smaller! and works! 9.5 years ago

It has no landing gear, but Mod and I made this. Yours still actually looks like a complete plane, though

  • Unstable plane 9.5 years ago

@Jasperjl oh I totally forgot! Really sorry dude. I will get it fixed today

  • BAe-Hawk-Red-Arrows-Colours (Propellor Version) 9.5 years ago

Heh, this is kinda fun. I changed the prop to have an 80“ diameter and 5 2.5x thickness blades, it made taking off a fair bit easier without losing performance

  • @Skua 9.5 years ago

@osame well since this stuff is pretty important to building planes and will help you a lot, I'll write a quick guide for you. If you can build a version that flies a bit more easily with that, I'll gladly upvote it. The basics:

CoM, CoL, and CoT are the centres of mass, lift, and thrust. You can view them by pressing the space bar or selecting it from the left-hand menu in the builder. Red is mass, blue is lift, yellow is thrust. Most of the time, you don't need to worry about CoT. It's important if you have really off-centred engines, but that won't be often.

Your plane's stability depends on the relationship between the CoM and CoL. If the CoL is ahead of the CoM, your plane will be unstable. If the CoL is too far behind the CoM, it will be so stable that it can't turn. In this case the CoL is behind the CoM, but only by a really tiny amount. As such, the plane loses control really easily.

The ideal situation is where the CoL is far back enough to provide stability, but not by so much that you can't turn. For a plane like this, moving the CoM forwards by adding some fuel near the front or removing some near the back should do the trick. Test it out until it works well for you. Good luck!

  • Folding Wings Help 9.5 years ago

@LeoBrasi check out some examples and see how they did it. Andrew Garrison made one almost a year ago that should demonstrate it pretty nicely for you.

  • @Skua 9.5 years ago

Hehe it's like a little chibi plane. Thanks for building it! My biggest piece of advice for you would be to work on making your planes a little more stable - this one can be controlled, but only just. Do you know how the CoM and CoL work, and all that?

  • Plane issues 9.5 years ago

Can you upload it for us to see? If you post it unlisted and then link here, it won't be published to the "new" page or your profile when other people look. It's hard to really tell anything from the picture.

  • I need help 9.5 years ago

@DatsunVehiclesCompany it doesn't work on iOS, I'm afraid. I guess it could with a jailbreak, but that's not worth it just for this. Do you have SimplePlanes on any other systems?

  • Damage Mechanics 9.5 years ago

They are pretty destructive, but you actually can take damage without losing. I won the WWII challenge with an engine shot off earlier. I suspect the reasoning behind it is that aiming is actually pretty tricky for human players without the use of slow motion.

@AeroEngineering I have never actually made one, I'll try to on my next plane

  • BAe Hawk - Red Arrows colours 9.5 years ago

The epic quest to reply to everyone begins now! First off:

@XVIindustries @Jammyman21 yeah I considered that but apart from how horrendously difficult it would be, the rudder would clip through it, which would look a bit awful
