  • How to add downloaded planes to the game in windows? 9.5 years ago

Either download them through the Steam browser, or copy the URL and press ctrl+L in the editor

  • BAe Hawk (modded) 9.5 years ago

@TilliDie we haven't got the android version working yet, but I'll let you know when we do

  • Hydrofoil fictional story 9.5 years ago

Cool boat. By the way, imgur is far faster and less ad-heavy than tinypic, it might be worth using in future

  • Will this work 9.5 years ago

Actually, I can foresee one problem: getting your boat to actually start in the water will be tricky.

  • Will this work 9.5 years ago

I've not tried it before, but I see no reason that it wouldn't. There may be issues with having your plane detached from your missiles, but I think it's worth a shot. Cool idea

  • Hey guys? 9.5 years ago

@Robertobean I only just saw this, but good on you for dealing with it that way dude

  • What should I make? 9.5 years ago

    HESA F-313

  • A legitimate suggestion (this is not another improve the game post) Lel 9.5 years ago

@Meawk oooh @theLatentImage I wouldn't take that kind of disrespect hahaha

  • BAe Taranis 9.5 years ago

@UnknownNate in the end, virtually energy single part had to be xml edited for it work properly. The main source of trouble came from rotating panels to make the bodywork. I'm glad you like it so much, though!

  • BAe/McDonnell Douglas JAST 9.5 years ago

@Stampede I'm not very good at uploading stuff consistently, and I'm already engaged in a couple of other big projects. Thank you for your offer, though, and good luck

  • I'd like an Idea. 9.5 years ago

    Rockwell HiMAT, maybe?

  • Air Brakes used as Flaps/Dive Brakes? 9.5 years ago

I've used them for dive brakes before, but not flaps. I think that, within the game, they just add a huge amount of drag rather than actually counting as extensions to the wing. It might be better if you create the trailing edge of your wing from a separate piece, mounted on a hidden rotator. Let me know if any experiments work out, though.

  • question 9.5 years ago

@mbmadnes32 .apk is just how android stores apps, it's the same on every android system, so yes

  • question 9.5 years ago

@dsr1aviation I can. Getting modded files in to the android version works fine, but you need an android version of the mod. Otherwise it should be all the same

  • Points 9.5 years ago

@JosephB2001 since Leo didn't quite seem to understand your question, the rule about needing 30 points to upvote stuff wasn't in place at the start, it was only brought in when the game started to get more popular.

  • What's the secret to wheels? 9.5 years ago

Do you mean landing gears or wheels made out of fuselages?

  • BAe/McDonnell Douglas JAST 9.5 years ago

  • Aston Martin DB5 James bond edition 9.5 years ago

Nice work! Regarding the gun controls affecting the VTOL nozzles that power it, if you assign the nozzles to a second action group, you can fix that. Turn the group on, set the nozzles where you want, then turn the group off. They'll stay in place even if you move the slider.

  • BAe/McDonnell Douglas JAST 9.5 years ago

@Wahoo12 in fairness the concept had an alarming amount of unproven concepts for its time, BAe had a lot of very forward-thinking ideas but not necessarily the expertise to make them work properly. One of the Harrier replacement concepts featured an all-virtual cockpit for a pilot lying prone, along with a lot of stealth concept that are only just arriving on modern fighters nowadays, way back in the 80s. The work didn't go to waste, though, a lot of the interesting stuff wound up on planes like the F-35 and the Taranis.

  • BAe/McDonnell Douglas JAST 9.5 years ago

@Stampede what does that involve? Thank you, though

  • Need help! 9.5 years ago

@EndermenSlayer90 to save a whole plane, just remove the cockpit and it'll save everything else. If there's no cockpit, the subassembly button saves everything attached to the component you've got selected

  • Live Stream from Today now on YouTube 9.5 years ago

    @Aerobako do what?

  • Need help! 9.5 years ago

@dsr1aviation not yet, but I'm gonna try getting the smoke one to work on Android, so I'll get back to you on that

  • I need prayers 9.5 years ago

Sorry to hear this Nick. I hope his parents have plenty of support around them, too

  • Need help! 9.5 years ago

To save a subassembly, first make sure that the parts you want to save are not connected to the cockpit. Next, select those parts, and press the button that opens the rotation controls. Click the button with the subassembly icon (a couple of parts next to each other) to save it

Boeing Bird of Prey? Since you're the Awesome Boeing Master and all

  • Modern Fighter Challenge 9.5 years ago

@RyneKuczy of course you can, and don't worry about crediting me because I am certainly not the first person to do it

  • Modern Fighter Challenge 9.5 years ago

@RyneKuczy you mean the sharp edges on the sides? That's done by getting a fuselage section with curved-hard-curved-hard corners, and then rotating it 45 degrees in the xml.

  • FE-992 Front 9.5 years ago

@Nickasaurus I've tried that before as well, but I certainly didn't get a disappearing plane! That is awfully weird

  • FE-992 Front 9.5 years ago

@Jackie that's an approach I hadn't thought of, actually. My current plan was to give control surfaces two inputs that would add together, and include the VTOL slider as an option. This would mean you could adjust trim with a combination of pitch and VTOL inputs, but would also allow for things like ruddervators (pitch + yaw) or tailerons (pitch +roll). That's all a pipe dream for now though haha

  • BAe Hawk (modded) 9.5 years ago

@TilliDie a mod indeed! It's available on PC here, I'm hopefully going to get an Android version working soon

    +1
  • FE-992 Front 9.5 years ago

@Jackie it's early days yet, I don't really know anything about creating parts for games, so I'm doing my best to learn. I feel like the smoke mod went pretty well, though, it's the one near the top of the forums just now. I want wings with trim control more than anything else, but that is likely to be quite difficult. We're just gonna keep learning and see what we can do!

  • Hey, why ain't this on X-Box? 9.5 years ago

Developing for consoles can be difficult and expensive - even just the development kit software can cost thousands. Also placing blocks with a tiny joystick on a controller sounds awful haha

  • FE-992 Front 9.5 years ago

@Jackie ahh, that's a shame. You seem to be doing alright anyway, though! Well if you do somehow get your hands on a new computer, or an android device, feel free to give me a shout and I can show you how it works.

I'll probably avoid flying wings, because I've done a couple already and they're a bit samey. I'm starting to work on creating new parts for the game, maybe I can make something big to showcase them if I manage anything good

  • BAe/McDonnell Douglas JAST 9.5 years ago

@TheLatentImage cheers. I just sorta felt like I wanted to actually finish a build for the first time in ages

@rey008 thank you for your vote!

  • FE-992 Front 9.5 years ago

@Jackie that's kind of you to say. I guess I just find tiny xml edits easier to work with than giant fuselages. Maybe I should try a really big build soon

  • FE-992 Front 9.5 years ago

@Jackie well good on you for persevering with such huge builds anyway, I never have the patience for that sort of thing haha

  • FE-992 Front 9.5 years ago

    @Jackie here it is

  • Modern Fighter Challenge 9.5 years ago

@RyneKuczy agh I didn't see the update saying that Guardian missiles are allowed! I should have gone for those, they would have made the difference I needed

  • BAe/McDonnell Douglas JAST 9.5 years ago

    @General360 @RocketLL @Rifqigamers1 @RyneKuczy @bobthetitan @Dinogone thank you all!

  • Modern Fighter Challenge 9.5 years ago

@RyneKuczy aww man is there a video? That sounds like something out of Top Gun haha

  • BAe/McDonnell Douglas JAST 9.5 years ago

@dsr1aviation actually no, I just built this over the last couple of hours haha. Besides learning Unity, I've got a couple of late-WWII German concepts that I'm chipping away at

  • Modern Fighter Challenge 9.5 years ago

@RyneKuczy here's mine, it's maneouvrable but probably a little underpowered. Still, I'll give it a shot!

  • Lost building controls? 9.5 years ago

The default controls have been changed, check your settings and you can see the new ones or change them back

  • [QUESTION] How to build detailed planes with low drag points? 9.5 years ago

@AR as far as I know, wings can be more or less ignored for drag purposes. I'm not sure if they have no effect or just a small one, but either way it's not important. The things that bring drag up the most (in the game) are inlets and fuselages that are directly in the wind. Your Eurofighter a) is quite large, and b) has quite a bulky fuselage. Put these two things together and you get a lot of drag.

For comparison, look at any of SpiritusRaptor's planes. Most of them have over 5000 points of drag.
