@LunarEclipseSP @Tingly06822 This is the suspension used on Porsche 911 GT3 improved version. Although it is simple to use, it is obviously not very part efficient.

Takicraft Corporation always stuns me with the abundant details he has put into the car. The design language of Takicraft screams utilitarianism and simplicity which fits with the theme of Simpleplanes. This kit car is no different. However, this car would not be Takicraft Corporation's product if there are no suspension design mishaps. The rear shock was connected solid to the wheel hub which made the rear suspension completely immovable. After fixing the issue with relative ease, the rear suspension geometry make the rear wheel gain positive camber under stress which harms the rear end grip during cornering. The front suspension features a pushrod design. Although cool looking, the lack of damping in the hinge rotators caused severe porpoising problem at high speeds. In order to fix the issue, the front suspension was modified to a more conventional design. The performance of the car was also problematic when testing on Nordschleife. The rear end tends to get unstable at higher speeds due to the rear suspension geometry design problem mentioned earlier. The drag reduction was not done properly which limited the top speed of the vehicle. The lack of steering assistance also contributes to poor driving experience. As the first build I have seen that demonstrates the idea of a kit car, this is an amazing build that I will definitely recommend. However, some additional polish may be necessary to elevate this car to the god tier which it belongs.

This is awesome. Since I am a huge fan of Wip3out, I think I should make my own attempt on making an AG racer. My only issue with this build is the handling. I am so used to the handling of Wip3out and BallisticNG that I am quite uncomfortable with the handling of this machine. However, I think this is a personal issue rather than the problem with the build.

I seriously don't know. I just hate it when things do not make sense. Whenever I download any replica, I will have an expectation of how it should behave. If that build fail to meet those expectations, my brain just fries. That of course, means that if you build any plane that mimics Ace Combat physics, it better behaves like a plane in Ace Combat. For any good car build, one of the expectation is I want the car's head point exactly where I want it to. A realistic and well tuned suspension design is the key to achieve this goal when the terrain is not exactly flat. You may think that a gyro is the solution to my request but that thing messes with my brain even more.

Also, if you know me personally, you will know that I am a very stubborn guy. So I would not mind if you hate me because of that.

@FluffyWaffle45 Well, I guess the fast and slow distinction comes from different build philosophies, the speed of your car uses Gold Prix as reference while mine used Nordschleife. You used all the physics trick this game has to offer while my car is much more grounded to reality. However, I do hope this car can help you understand proportions and scales better. This improved understanding can help your car look more realistic and beautiful. Also, I think the suspension work on this car is something you can study. I have tried something new and it worked wonders.

I upvoted for encouragement since it is much better than my first build. However, the suspension does not work at all due to a missing hinge. The shock should be connected to the wheel hub via a small rotator or a hinge instead. The reason why your suspension still flexes is that the hinges do have a little flex. I hope the suspension would be better on your next car post.

@FluffyWaffle45 The reason why I care about the size is that I would like to test your car on Nordschleife. But since your car is too big, that is impossible. One potential solution to the problem is to draw the side profile out before building. Once your car gets shorter, it would also get narrower.

  • Allundra F5 10 months ago

I would be happier if your cars have realistic size and good side view proportions. The flow of the lines can get some additional work.

I think you need to make your cars with correct proportions to make them more appealing. Your current builds are too wide. I have yet to figure out how to implement Ridge Racer simple drift physics.

To be honest, although it is a brilliant build, I was slightly disappointed that you did not use any funky trees to create special AI to make it more deadly. I may have missed your touch on AI but I cannot see the apparent changes. Perhaps use variable system if you did make any notable changes.

To test the combat proficiency of this plane (and its pilot), I pitted it against my F-15C AI enemy and AI enemy modified from F-16C made by @Tohu piloted by AI. And they seems to have similar combat effectiveness despite not having ace pilot in them (OP missiles I assume).

@hpgbproductions I have made some modifications to the machine so that the handling become similar to that of old Wip3out. Can I post the machine I have modified? Also, can you explain how you have achieved limited auto terrain following pitch control? It is the work of the helicopter rotor (ground effect)?

@ReinMcDeer Then I suggest you try my method of using F/A-18E/F tail stablizers as canard. In that way, you can make the plane even more maneuverable since they are very large.

  • Allundra Icona 7 months ago

@FluffyWaffle45 The size has been much more accurate (Although still a bit too large) but you still have to work on proportions. The car appear to be too long, narrow and tall like a sub-sandwich. The wheel wells also need to be improved. Wheel wells are the first thing you draw when you draft a car since it would determine most of things of your car. Your car would not run if the wheels are not fitted properly.

To be honest, I would be happier if you stop spam posting for a while and really devote effort into making a car that is much better than what you have already built. I would treat the down time as "Cooking Time" in that regard.
Also, here is the link to the tutorial for creating custom rim. I think it is a good skill to have for a car builder. You can also disassemble the wheel of my Aquila CR1 challenge car to see how custom wheel is built. It is surprisingly simple once you get the hang of it.
