@F104Deathtrap
Thanks man! I appreciate the spotlight and compliment! The fixed landing gear pants was a tradition for Nordan at the time, and you guessed it, this indeed was a late 30's plane. The gun arrangement was based off the Lockheed P-38 Lightning, and the fighter's general layout, with the engines far forward of the cockpit, was inspired by the Grumman XF5F Skyrocket.
@JackTheBestBoss
I'll put it on my collab list of planes to do, or improve, but for now I'd like to work on one of my own designs. Like I said before I'm not much in the collab mood. But this plane has room for improvement, so I'll do it sometime down the road.
@JackTheBestBoss
Looks good. But it seems Planefun helped you on this build. Doesn't that count as a collab? Honestly this airliner is fantastic. Probably one of the best planes I've seen you build.
@JackTheBestBoss
Thanks, but I'm not in the collab mood. I've collabed before, but I like improving other's designs. I can easily build a plane on my own. The only collab I've done so far, the Manta Ray, was not my design. It was built by Texasfam04 and I redid the wings, tail, and the cockpit, as well as added an advanced defense system on his design. So if you want to collab with me, you have to come up with the basic design and I'll work on it from their, or improve it, greatly.
@MrDoolittle
It is on the slow side a bit. Probably because of the fixed gear, bomb racks (you can remove them for A2A combat btw...) and because of the fuselage panels on the wings, those always create a bit of drag. And thanks for the compliment! For my first fighter cockpit this came out really good. The cockpit realistically is designed with comfort in mind. The control stick is designed for the pilot to simply rest their hand on the control stick; same with the throttles, so it's much easier to control the aircraft in high-G turns. The reclined seat also helps with that. It's pretty much the same idea that went into the F-16's cockpit. The seat is also reclined so the pilot can sit in a smaller, more streamlined cockpit, to keep the twin-engined plane as small and streamlined as possible. I guess you could say this was inspired by the reclined seats in gliders but the canopy ended up more like a framed-bubble canopy than a streamlined canopy.
@JackTheBestBoss
Glad you loved it, and yes indeed a retractable gear variant will be available in the future. The original concept of this (you can see in the Lark Timeline in the description) had retractable landing gear but I decided to go with the Nordan tradition of having fixed gear with streamlined gear leggings/pants/spats. But yes I will make on with retractable gear soon.
@EpicPigster1
They were originally smaller but I enlarged them since the original elevator wasn't very effective at pulling tight turns, and it was sluggish at slow speeds. The new elevator was enlarged to increase it's effectiveness and when that didn't fully solve the issue, I slapped it on a rotator and made it a stabilater, using both elevators, the whole stabilizer moving, and I made the flaps contribute to pitching the aircraft as well. It does look pretty big but it's to help with turns .
@DeezDucks
I can't get the casings to eject directly downward like a P-51 so I could only have them shoot out horizontally instead of vertically. I mean it looks realistic in a positive G turn but straight and level it does look a bit strange.
@Treadmill103
Oh I know them as Wheel pants. Didn't know they were also called spats. The original concept had retractable gear but I wanted to keep it simple so I went with wheel pants, or spats instead. Their lighter than retractable but they do cause a bit more drag.
@BroAeronautics
Pretty good. The basic aircraft of the P8 is done, I just need to add minor details and systems. It's between the size of a P-61 and a F7F. I put the P8 on hold to work on the NA-3 Lark I just uploaded today and I have one other Nordan design I'm going to work on, and then I'll resume the night fighter builds (Building two night fighters, the PAC P8 and a Nordan design).
@Tully2001
Removed it. The glitch-effect and the Top Secret sign obviously were from the gif editor but the blue flashes you see was from a device I created. Because of the secrecy I was trying to find one of those red classic "Top Secret" labels but all the editor had was a smiley holding a top secret sign.... ¯_(ツ)_/¯

This would be a fun plane to fly in real life! Fast and very stable! I also love the cockpit and control layout!
Hmmm..... I say it's time to bring my nation to life in this game too......And totally won't challenge you to a war game.....

I thought so. The cockpit, with all the instruments, radios, switches, etc. looks just like the FSX default Skyhawk.

Language buddy. I know you didn't say directly the "F'' Word but when you say "wtf" your still implying it. No swearing.
NIce! Do you play FSX?
Lol I was just playing with your other rocket and then I saw this! Great work on both rockets!
