@TriggerMiku I’m not a computer person, but if I’m reading that right you have a powerful GPU and a shit ton of RAM, but a rather weak CPU.
What an odd balance…
@SuperSuperTheSylph I’d prefer if you made your own. It can be nearby and of the same theme if you want, just separate. Use the Union Jack as a divider, perhaps?
@SuperSuperTheSylph just draw. All that nonsense about colours and alliances isn’t worth the time.
If you have charges but no ideas or time for something actually dedicated consider making an artistic charge dump for yourself like Grain’s Carpets is for me; somewhere to put pixels without taking up much space or requiring much effort, while still looking nice.
@SuperSuperTheSylph Holy shit that is a gigantic pile of nonsense.
The only remotely “valuable” thing in there is how long it takes for a flag to pay itself off.
@SuperSuperTheSylph Right. Since it wasn’t worked on for so long I presumed it abandoned.
@Boeing727200F I only saw the first city out of chance. And I had assumed the runway was incomplete, it’d have been more accurate to say it was filled.
@Randomplayer Being in the middle of nowhere was the idea. It avoids unwanted attention and provides plenty of space, yet is still a findable place on the map (unlike somewhere in some taiga forest or whatever). You do not need to be part of the alliance to draw there, just respect the guidelines.
@SilverStar Yet is still incredibly complex.
Nevertheless, if SP gives an introduction to flight, which it does, it should go without saying that an intro into its own features for flight purposes is a must.
The game's own stock craft should not be black magic; they should be approachable starting points to build off of and draw from.
As it stands, Pigpen is so advanced that nothing can be learned from it beyond intimidating players.
Honestly, having looked at its variables, I reckon a sentence to a paragraph for each aspect of the lines of code would be plenty enough.
@SilverStar "Basic math".
Look at the code inside Pigpen and tell me how that is at all "basic"? How is someone, without a hint of direction, to make sense of it?
I don't mean what it does at all, I mean why each part is important. Why some things (e.g. tiny fractions as factors, etc.) need to be used in such a manner and can't work without it. Because trust me, I've tried. No luck.
Just because you've worked it out does not mean you get to define what is easy.
@SilverStar If you want to build anything of any complexity, yeah, you need it. The other day I had to abandon an otherwise promising project because I had no way of keeping control if AoA went slightly too high, which it'd not infrequently do at certain speeds.
If you understand the documentations or guides like snowflake0s one, it's enough to analyse how the systems are made.
Ridiculous. I'm talking about why a variable is x0.003 and not /0.003, or why it uses one function or another. There's a lot of engineering in this, yet no way to actually get yourself started in understanding it unless you've taken a bloody university course on the subject.
At that point, I think the fact that SimplePlanes is a game has been forgotten; it should be accessible, therefore should give some attempt at explaining its more advanced possibilities.
And if you don't understand, maybe it's not for you. That's how it works.
If the only way anything ever got built was by someone who instantly understood all the important concepts, you'd still be living in a cave hunting your dinner with a spear.
@TriggerMiku All this graphical AI junk doesn't actually do anything. It doesn't give the user more information, it just pretties it up for... no actual reason.
Personally, as long as graphics aren't hideous to the eye I think they're good enough. Fancy graphics are a waste of power and bad for computer parts anyhow. Lag, heat, can't run multiple programs at once; all downsides.
FPS, resolution, render distance where it applies. That's the kind of things that matters - actual information.
Real Whistler Hours
+1@BaconEggs nuclear powered, like sentient rocks.
+1@32 Could’ve sworn those were lighter. Guess not.
Turns out that Chad can push things he's standing on.
+1You know what this means.
Chad-powered airplane
@rexzion You know what to do.
+1Use your toe.
I wonder how long it'll be until the Mods eat this person alive...
+1This is the first time I've ever seen someone break Rule 1.
+1Incredible.
I am in amazement.
At the rule-breaking.
Just realized, it's funny how the graphics on the home page still say "coming to you in 2025".
+1I mean, sure, I guess. If you count the playtest.
We’re all so normal and well adjusted
+1@TriggerMiku I’m not a computer person, but if I’m reading that right you have a powerful GPU and a shit ton of RAM, but a rather weak CPU.

@SuperSuperTheSylph aight
+1One gets zapped to kingdom come
+1@Hiiamhere took a month to decide lol
+1@Baby at least 7

+1@PlaneFlightX You intended to open blender but accidentally clicked on SP instead and decided to stick with it.

+1The only remotely “valuable” thing in there is how long it takes for a flag to pay itself off.
Well that’s troublesome. Don’t have any other desktops available?
+1What of it?
+1@Boeing727200F What coast?
+1@SuperSuperTheSylph I have no idea.
@SuperSuperTheSylph better get on it soon, then!
+1It’ll take a while.
@SuperSuperTheSylph I see.
+1Feel like it could use a background... The contrast with the map is very poor. Maybe outline in blue?
Punctuate.
+1@Yish42 What leads you to suspect that, Mr. Holmes?
+1;)
bi bi
+1@LunarEclipseSP I see the face has been nicknamed “Grimace”.
+1Not the most flattering nickname, but I’ve seen worse. Heh.
@LunarEclipseSP Ahhh so that’s why the paper clip is dressed up
+1@SuperSuperTheSylph Right. Since it wasn’t worked on for so long I presumed it abandoned.

+1@Yish42 Oh! That's easy!
I want to be
OUT OF THIS FUCKING AIRPLANE-
+1Good to know I've been promoted to secretary.
+1Apparently.
@SuperSuperTheSylph Was that the weird white silo thing?
+1@Mrcooldude
+1@LunarEclispseSP @KorKairorWhatever @TheMouse
+1@Yish42 As far as I know, no.
+1That's why tag lists are done in threes.
Only the first three of those will work.
+1@LunarEclipseSP
+1@Boeing727200F
You're the biggest contributors soooo yeah. Tagged.
@KorKaiorWhatever Joy.

@LunarEclipseSP Ah.
+1I think RB is active too? Assuming that's who that "RiskyBag" fellow is who's making RB insignia.
I feel like it needs to be a little bit further along to qualify for a teaser...

@LunarEclipseSP I'm an idiot and tagged myself.
+1See comment below.
@TheMouse don’t we all…
+1It will be rather troublesome to have to entirely relearn how wings work in SP2. VERY different physics model.
@Rb2h I'm sorry but praising the X-32 as anything other than a circus freak is a crime punishable by being fed to piranhas.
