@Krikkit42 I'm aware that the stock weapons are not particularly realistic. I'm keeping them to keep builders focusing on the design of the aircraft more than the weapons in particular and to avoid people from building lasers guns and impossible-homing missiles. If you wish to build your aircraft with custom weapons, you are free to do so. However when I test it, I'm going to replace them with stock weapons to give the designs a fair comparison within the game's limitations.
@Chaimber0825 Glad you liked this design! I tried my best to replicate realistic weapons on the different colors schemes provided, but then again.. this is SIMPLEplanes after all...
Also after my research for making these builds, it makes me feel that something like this is more akin the Modern Chinese aeronotical designs rather than Soviet, as it is literally a kitbashed soviet era aircraft. If you see the J-8II and you'll see what I mean...
@Ded To be fair, if their opinion means anything: by their standards, the F-15 was considered a failure... Even though it has an astonishing 104 kills to 0 losses... Just sayin...
@Ded The closest that ever got to their requirements was the F-16 at the beginning of the testing phase, as it was a literal flying acrobat, and was very lightly packed. It was later added with the necessary components to reach the requirements of the USAF. The Fighter Mafia considered it to be the closest to a successful design, despite the compromise of the additions.
From a U.S. perspective, I think the F-20 Tigershark would have been a close competitor though as it would have reduced engine maintenance costs in comparison to the F-5 Tiger... But that's a personal hunch.
@Ded The design can be as fantastic or as trash as you wish it to be, as long as it fits the requirements of the Fighter Mafia.
Side note, I agree 200%. Their ideas wanted the future to reflect past experiences, which is not how technological advancement works. Plenty of interesting documentaries out there calling them out as "Military analysts".
Despite that, I feel their requirements would make interesting designs from the simpleplanes community :)
@TheSonOfThunder There is no limit to engines, however keep in mind that one of the fighter mafia principles is that the plane must be cheap to mass produce.
@Nerfaddict
With weapons - only stock weapons allowed (no custom weapons)
With Fuel - only stock fuel or Fuselage load allowed (no infinite or weight-less fuel)
The rest can be XML'ed to reach the desired design and performance within the realism and limitations set in the description above.
@Bryan5 For structural safety purposes, the F-14 had a computing system called "Central Air Data Computer" (CADC). It basically moved the wings back automatically depending on the aircraft's speed, in order to avoid the wings from getting structurally damaged at high speeds. To visually see an idea of how it worked, Check out my F-14. For more information Check out this video

+1@teddyone02 It's a hybrid of a F-32 main body / F-16 cockipit and engine and Eurofighter typhoon wings
@Australianbulider676 What do you mean?
@9specter528 Pretty much...
+1Some details of this plane need to be fixed, but because it is curated, I'm unable to.
@SPairforce glad you liked it! Was originally inspired by this kitmashed model
@DanvillPH sadly it is not in my current plans.
+1Never thought I'd ever see a military grade flying pez dispensor xD
+1@FirstFish83828 F-32 main fuselage, F-16 nose and engine and Eurofighter wings
@FirstFish83828 ok, my submission is in! Thanks!
Gorgeous build of the Folland gnat! Keep up the good work! Much cleaner than my version
Really deserved a Charlie Sheen mode though xD
@Baconaircraft or @Vincent , pls make this plane a successor to the Hybrid Aircraft challenge , Forgot to do it >.<
Meh, forgot to make my submission as a successor...
Who's the mod to call for this?
This should be integrated as an in-game part! Excellent work!!
+1To everyone intending to compete, I strongly recommend checking out Flikr user Dizzyfugu's creations, particularly the Whif / What-if albums.
Am I allowed to mix more than 2 planes in my creation?
@Suubk27 oh sorry my mistake! May I give this plane a camouflage paint job?
+1Very interesting design!! Handles pretty good too! Smooth flyer!
I really enjoy seeing your design turned to life in this game!
I personally would have gone with larger elevons at the back, but that's me...
+1Fantastic job! Especially the built pilot! Keep it up!!
+1@sidewinder21 Camp Lemonnier
Nice job! This plane is surprisingly tricky to build, even though it is very simple in design!
+1very good work!
Amazing job!! We need more of these remakes!!
@ollielebananiaCFSP Ok, sadly I'm out
@ollielebananiaCFSP aaah ok, thanks for the clarity.
Can I make my own design, or must it be a replica?
Rule 2 and 8 conflict eachother...might join this... got one plane soon finished...
Fantastic job! Very pleasant to fly!
Very nice try! Keep it up!!
+3This plane has since been upgraded.
there is no mig design similar to this, but reminds me of my own mig design
@WolfHunter9111 thanks :)
+2What map did you use for the preview image?
+3@Rjenteissussy originally intended to be a mig-29ub with delta wing... basically this
From my expwrience on delta wings, make 2 extra wings on the front area, to make the centre of life closer to the centre of Mass.
see my draken, and you will see what i mean

+1Glad to see an F-14 with the CADC control installed. I attempted this a while back, needs a re-re-re-re-master.. not quite happy with the final look
+2Reminds me of my own B-52 ! Good job! keep up the good work!
Very nice design!! With a bit more attention to detail, this plane would look amazing!
This is not a return - I have stopped building. I still play it every now and then. This was just a suggestion...
@Kangy
+2@IceCraftGaming
Really diggin the design!! May I do a personal remake of this plane? (in the future)
+2*sharp inhale
+2* slow clap
Fantastic job! This would be amazing start off point for a 747AAC (airborne aircraft carrier)!!
@asteroidbook345 I read in some places that this design had indeed inspired the Sukhoi t-10.
But I can't clarify the claim...
@OrionIndustries Sort of... This was a one-off build. It's incomplete coz I got bored trying to build it
