  • F-105D Thunderchief 8.1 years ago

@GermanWarMachine Sorry, this model is based on its 1960s configuration during the Vietnam war. The bomb bay was locked, and instead held a fuel tank. The original nuclear role of the plane was very brief, only a few years toward the end of the 1950s, and was mostly F-105 B models in natural aluminum finish.

  • SAH-A6 "Crocodile" Attack Gunship 8.2 years ago

Rotor diameter needs to increase at least 50% Landing gear is also much too small and narrow. That said, this is a very interesting and original design. The hull is very stylish, the tail assembly looks very cool and I love the front canopy.

  • Axiom Shuttle class X-1 8.2 years ago

@DahezDefalt Landing gear is often the hardest part to get right and the easiest thing to ignore. If your skill for the rest of this thing is any indicator, you'll get the hang of it. Awesome job.

  • Axiom Shuttle class X-1 8.2 years ago

THIS THING LOOKS GREAT! (except for the landing gear)

@valaszki Like? Hahahahahaha No. I do not "like" it. I love it. I don't even want to love it because it blows the one I made completely out of the water, but I cannot help myself because you made the tail end of this aircraft a bona fide work of art. Pat yourself on the back, pour yourself a tall drink of your choosing and celebrate because this is some fine work, my friend. The rest of the plane (particularly the commie-green cockpit) is also quite amazing but my FAVORITE thing is the attention you paid to the variable geometry intake ramps. I'm no expert, but I think those intakes were the real contribution of this jet to science. You don't see anything flying before it with intakes like that, and practically every fighter afterwards has some sort of derivative. One of the few times where the West saw something the Soviets developed and said "Hey, we should probably do that too."

Or maybe the water got too close to the missiles, lol.

Oh yeah! The O's beat the Yankees 5-3 down at old Memorial Stadium. 4 runs in the 7th, it was a thing of beauty. I tell ya, the Orioles may not win them all, but Baltimore always has stood by her team.

  • How do you change the color of the fire in the jet engine? 8.3 years ago

@XxSoulAsasinxX You got it, man. I think you can Google " HTML Color Picker " and it will give you a tool where you pick the color/shade you want and it will spit out the code that the game uses. Great for doing authentic camo, etc.

  • Top speed 8.3 years ago

For most WW2 aircraft equipped with turbochargers, their top speed was around 20,000 feet. For those without turbos expect it's maximum performance at lower altitudes like 10,000 feet. Jets often achieve top speed at very high altitudes, above 30,000 feet but it depends on the engine, some are designed for lower altitudes.

One way to guess is to learn how the plane was used and flown.

  • How do you change the color of the fire in the jet engine? 8.3 years ago

You have to edit the xml file, which IOS won't let you do. So just borrow an engine you like from someone else.

  • MAKE A DIVE BOMBING PRACTICE IN THE WEAPONS TRANING 8.3 years ago

I posted a link to a real US Navy training video from WW2 in the description of one of my planes, if you're interested. It covers everything from approach to escape, and my plane works almost exactly like the real thing.

  • QUESTIONS ABOUT DAMAGE 8.3 years ago

@ValtsuAircraftIndustries Thanks! And once the fire goes out it's just dead, right? No restarting it, no messing with prop pitch or anything?

  • QUESTIONS ABOUT DAMAGE 8.3 years ago

@doge Oh, multiple engines can be throttled individually or as a group, no need to swap anything around. Throttle settings stay put now, instead of returning to zero when you deselect it's AG, so you just pick the motor(s) you want, set the gas, and then deselect them. I could do the same thing with prop pitch and the VTOL slider. The only problem is getting the player to read the instructions, assuming that using sliders and AG buttons isn't a pain in the neck for mobile users.

  • QUESTIONS ABOUT DAMAGE 8.3 years ago

@MrDoolittle Nah, I'm not a modder. I mess around with the xml tags a bit, but nothing that changes the game.

  • QUESTIONS ABOUT DAMAGE 8.3 years ago

@MrDoolittle Is it really tricky doing that stuff? A four engine bomber is pretty boring to pilot, mostly just taxiing, taking off and getting to altitude. Many bombers will simply fall apart if you throw them around too much. Most of the real work is engine management, navigation and gunnery, so the more realistic I make the controls, the more stuff people have to do. But I certainly don't want to make something for mobile users that doesn't work.

  • QUESTIONS ABOUT DAMAGE 8.3 years ago

@doge True, I imagine the prop itself is easily damaged even if the motor itself is covered.

  • QUESTIONS ABOUT DAMAGE 8.3 years ago

@MrDoolittle How do mobile users handle AGs and VTOL inputs?

  • Any tips on making a realistic bomber wing? [includes all era] 8.3 years ago

Wings vary a great deal from plane to plane, even during the same decade by the same manufacturer. I'd recommend googling blueprints of specific bombers you like and seeing for yourself.

  • QUESTIONS ABOUT DAMAGE 8.3 years ago

@WaffleCakes That's because your tires don't provide enough traction to overcome the torque of the asymmetrical thrust. If you slowly ease the the throttle up you might be able to get enough speed for your tail to help, but you'd probably run out of pavement before you had enough speed to take off.

  • I totally only just got over 500 hours on steam on SP... 8.3 years ago

I leave SP on while I'm researching aircraft and procrastinating, so while I'm sure it says many hundreds of hours, only a small fraction is actual flight time.

It's a great game for its price, most games that are 4 times as expensive shrivel up and die after only 30 or 40 hours. I saw a guy on steam give this game a negative review after 600 hours and I thought, "Yeah, right buddy. 600 hours for a 15 dollar game and you don't think it's a good deal. What a clown."

You're going to have to either use dozens and dozens of jumbo turbofans or you're going to have to find someone willing to xml mod the weight and jet thrust for you.
