@bjac0 It sure is! I've been wanting to get a VR set for over a year now, but the combined cost of the headset and a GPU capable of a decent framerate is way beyond my means. Major thanks to all the bitcoin miners out there driving up the price of graphics cards, may they all die in a fire.
You should invest the 5 dollars on the stock market. I don't recommend tech stocks as they are having a very rough month indeed, but snoop around a bit and you're bound to find something on the rise. Spread the money out a bit and in 2 or 3 months I'm sure you'll have the other 5 dollars you'll need to cover taxes and fees, leaving you with a 7 dollar target. Cheers!
A lot goes into presentation. Most of the really serious builds get uploaded Thursday or Friday so they can sit on the page for the weekend. People download mods to make the backfround look fancy. They post teasers. Some people even go further than that, the list goes on.
But consider this from another angle. All this presentation can ne helpful, but it'll only take you so far. The stuff that gets a ton of downloads is usually the stuff where someone spent a lot of time on the actual build. When I upload something and it doesn't get as much attention as I'd hoped, I don't think "darn, must've been the wrong time zone." I think "how could I have made this build better."
@Mostly Oh! Well, yes. I guess you are right, it is important to do things ones own way. I try to support people who struggle with English, for instance. But you really do owe it to yourself to do your work justice
I didn't say everything needs an in depth description. What I am saying is that if you want people to take the time to notice, download and upvote then you need to take the time to present it. Obviously, that does not apply to everything.
@Minecraftpoweer I do that. I write "Please stand by for details" on the pozt and then copy-paste the real description onto the web page. But that's only necessary if you're posting a relatively long description.
Man, I have been wrecking my brain over this thing! I wanna make an old 1940's flying boat, but there is no way any of them are A) STOL or B) Cheap to maintain! Meh.
@DerekSP Once you have a fleet of a certain type of aircraft, you tend to stick with it. Mechanics become familiar with it, a supply chain develops for parts, even the bean counters learn what to expect in terms of overhead margins etc.
@DerekSP Could be politics, range considerations, or some other reason. Larger companies usually employ a variety of sizes, maybe the other sizes are already covered. Or maybe Airbus just plain old outbid the competition.
@DerekSP The same way a General Electric Locomotive is more fuel efficient than a Toyota Prius: overall consumption is higher, but efficiency is still better thanks to enormous capacity.
@DerekSP I don't think it works like that. If a midsize plane could ferry passengers more cheaply than a jumbo, they'd just buy more midsize planes. Other considerations like range, maintenance, etc. play a part of course, but I'd assume that a jet carrying 600 people on only 4 engines is more efficient than one carrying 250 people on two.
Are these aircraft all of comparable capacity? 747 is huge, and filling all those seats can be a headache. I don't follow commuter aircraft closely, so I have no idea.
@Phoza Short nosed biplanes are tough because the COM needs to be well ahead of the COL. That alone would be no problem except the front landing gear is right below the COL, meaning your plane will faceplant on the ground if you move too much mass too far forward.
Just looking at the pics, it seems to me your tail is too small, which means SP moves your COL forward, which makes the plane unstable, which is made worse because (again) your tail is too small.
@DerekSP I just wish I could sort searches based on upvotes, downloads etc. Have you ever tried to search for a specific plane that was based off something popular like an ME109 or a P51? Good gravy, talk about a lot of scrolling.
@ProcessedPlAnEs Sometimes it's hard to tell, but I do a ton of research whenever I build a plane. Wikipedia articles usually have enough info to get most of the basic stuff, but I like to dig a bit deeper and the Superfortress has a lot of history.
The more I dug into her, I realized something and I sorta changed my mind about a few things. The B-29 is probably the most beautiful 4 engine plane of the 1940's, and that's saying something. But I hate her.
I absolutely hate that airplane because she was designed from the ground up to murder as many innocent women and children as possible and do just about nothing else. You can't hit anything smaller than a city from 30,000 feet in the air, the bombs blow all over the map. So they just dumped them on the cities, burned them to the ground. Sure, the fires also burned strategic targets like rail yards, factories, supply depots. But mostly, they just killed millions of civilians.
I'm not going to say anyone was right or wrong, it was a war. All I'm saying is that this weapon can't ever be used for defense. It can't hit a tank, it couldn't even hit a ship, it can only destroy civilian lives. Sure, they used the Superfort for other stuff like reconnaisance and I thought about making a recon version, but that's not why people care about this plane.
She was an amazing machine in terms of flying, but I just get so depressed whenever I think about building one. I know she's your favorite, and I want you to know that I'm sorry.
@Liamwellman123 Congratulations, my good man. You have officially become an APRIL FOOL! Now delete your comment on my Tank so you don't ruin the surprise for everyone.

@CRJ900Pilot Ouch. I forgot about that. Sorry.
This sounds like the very definition of what mods are for.
Get the parts, build it yourself, be a hero.
Oh I bet that's tons of fun in the winter months.

+1Nice! That is one sleek plane my man.
@grunnano1 I understand, this is good work tho

+3Another day, another awesome plane by @getorge All is right in Simple Planes.
@WolfGaming I was much too lazy for reading XD You're off to a great start here, Im eager to see where it goes
I'm too lazy to make a joke about not having any wheels, so I'm just gonna upvote and move on. See ya
Sorry, no can do. Gotta keep it kid friendly!
@Mostly Oh! Well, yes. I guess you are right, it is important to do things ones own way. I try to support people who struggle with English, for instance. But you really do owe it to yourself to do your work justice

@blackvultureaeroespace Not a problem at all.

This replica is awesome, this description is awful. Don't sell yourself short.

The tail is too short, you'll have stability issues. As for fixing the engines, download the Finetuner or Overload mod.
@greasytortle I wish it was like that when I made my A-26, it would have simplified many things.
@greasytortle Thank you! I actually don't know much about the recent AG changes.
@ACMECo1940 Rick is nice, but I just prefer Slayer.
@greasytortle Finding that page totally changed this game for me. Good luck!
@BACconcordepilot Not this?
STUG LIFE
+1CHEERS! Doncha just love when a big problem turns out to be a little one?

+2@DerekSP XD

More of a SLAYER kinda guy, personally.
If the mods wanna feature something, it gets featured. Don't worry, they're quite tasteful.

Paper Airplane
This tank SUCKS!
+1Excuse me, sir? I'm going to need you to keep making awesome stuff like this for the rest of your life, or at least mine. M'kay?
+5I like how demented this is.
HEY! Delete your comment on the A-24, you'll spoil the surprise!
Happy April Fools Day
@dogb23boy @TheWhistlingDeath @F4f879
@CRJ900Pilot I completely falls apart, I deleted every single connection.
@CRJ900Pilot Spawn in the air for best results!
This thing looks great, except for the landing gear which is pretty much the opposite of great. Everything else though, great!
